GNR are a lot of fun. We need a band like them now.
Im late but yes I agree we need real music back again
This is rocks version of a DISS track. If you remember Out Ta Get Me It’s similar to that. Axl and Guns N Roses were a controversial band and consider the most dangerous band in the world at that time so the media at times could be harsh mainly towards Axl Rose. So Axl Rose always had his battles with the media. Being they were the biggest band in the world in the late 80s and early 90’s they were heavily covered by the media 24/7. They epitomized what rock n roll meant. It’s was F the man, be rebels, wild and free. That could also get you in trouble at times so the battle with Axl and GNR ca the press is prevalent in multiple songs by Guns, mainly Axl. Out Ta Get Me, this and a couple others. I LOVE this song Bc it epitomized Rock N Roll back then. Rock music has sold out a long time ago. It’s not the same. It’s not rebellious or wild anymore. But yeah, love this song. It’s just a DISS track towards the media. Kerrang, Spin etc were Magazine that covered music back in the 80’s and 90’s.
Yep the media and press was all over GNR and a lot of it negative unforunately. There was even agendas back then - Kerrang are still going strong to this day albeit with a more online presence, along with rolling stone. But yeah not a great song bu t a very important one
@@paulies1983 I love the song personally.
Yeah and my michelle
Saw the Gunners in 93 Milton Keynes England. When they landed by helicopter (I was 15 at the time) The whole crowd surged to the left to see them. I didn't touch the floor for about 20 yards. Never been so scared in my life. My man what a gig. Best day of my life!!!!!!
This wasn't a joke this is for real this video was a real video it was a real song and as you know this band was all about expression and expressing themselves through their music. This was no joke. The band was dead ass serious this wasn't a bad axl this was about the band. Which is why you see or hear him say Guns and roses in this corner weighing in at 850 lb.
To me it is not simply funny song!
It has a really important message where he sings directly to some people who were always saying shit about them in the media!
this was my first ever song i ever heard from g n r back in 96 I think I was 15 loved them ever since 😊
One of the best songs from this album together with Civil War, Yesterdays, Shotgun Blues and Estranged. Overall the whole Illusion II album is so great. The song is about their distaste towards media.
yeah... I'll vote Use Your Illusiaon II over Use Your Illusion I
Don't Cry Alt Lyric also Great
And they've never played it live. 30 years man alive. I was 15 when I got these two albums. What a time to be a teenager. In 91 44 days of each other you had. Yui 1&2 metallica Ten ( pearl jam) RHCP Blood sugar sex magik. The parties we went to were awesome. 🤘🏼🤘🏼
The best track on both albums, imo, and which took me years to love, is Coma.
Listen to how tight the drums and bass are. Then notice all the slight variations in the guitar work. Lastly, you notice the awesome vocals and lyrics. Combined with the excellent production this is one of the best songs ever, punk!
They did that with use your illusion one and two due to the fact that they wanted kids that were impressionable at the time to be able to afford them it's a whole lot easier to afford one album and then go back and get the other then try to get one album at better than enormous price
Dedicated to the haters.
Bob Guccioni Sr at the time was the editor of hustler magazine.
best gnr song no cap
Every GnR song is unique and Great
This was the big F U to the negative press. Calling out haters in the media with the most punk rock vibes. This was them inviting the media to get in the ring...as in boxing, because GNR didn't care about what the media said about them and they were going to shut the press the hell up real quick.
This was not a joke song ...this was Axl venting, calling out and throwing shade at very specific individuals in the media who notoriously wrote several articles that were trying to take GNR down for different reasons. Axl used to vent a lot on stage , about anything that was pissing him off daily....many times about these dudes mentioned in this song.
Back then, we read several rock music magazines to learn about the bands through photos, articles and interviews. The guys mentioned in this song were sorta deemed some of music's top rock critics at the time writing for some if the bigger magazines, interviewing and writing about some if music's biggest bands. Andy Secher wrote for Hit Parader, Nick Wall write for Circus and Kerrang magazines and Bob Guccione Jr who wrote for Spin Magazine....they each wrote several articles that were designed to make GNR look bad and even started writing fake stories to create a controversy about them just to have an article to sell.
Axl recording his hate for these guys and putting it on the album was basically permanently slapping them back in the face to let the world know the truth, to embarrass those article writers and shame them at the same time.
uhhh..the fact that they wrote a song about them means they DID care about what the press said.
This song is a rock and roll diss
bands nowadays are useless they never tell the truth of do anything dangerous and nobody will remeber any of them in a year or so, but gnr will be remembered forever
Aguante GNR saludos desde Argentina.
This was OG DISS
GNR memiliki warna musik beragam
Axl is a crazy son of a bitch!, in the good way! 😜🤟
This song is dedicated to all the guns n' fuckin' roses fans
Who stuck with us through all the fucking shit
And to all those opposed...hmm...well...
You'd have to be around at the time when this song was released. Circus, kerrang, spin. We're all huge magazine at that period at time. GnR we're the poster boys of bad behavior and even with media outlets today they only tell one side of the story. Just by them being on the cover they sold those magazines. Axl and co knew it. The magazines knew it. Axl being Axl finally had enough and put them on notice. So is it a funny song? Not really. We're most of us at that time hoping Axl followed through? Probably. But does this song hold take on different meaning now. Yea because they're older, the fan base is older, and rock magazines don't really exist anymore. Its the type of song you have to put into context of when it was written.
By the way that was Slash at the end.
In the middle too.
No that was Duff
And it was axl in the middle
@@171bobby incorrect, it was duff in the middle and slash at the end
When was Duff in the middle? The end is definitely Duff. Remember the song was his idea so fitting he’d get the last word.
Nobody’s doing gnr reactions Nickadoug. I know life is probably happening but.... kind of left us in suspense with finishing illusions 2???
This was Them defending themselves and ultimately other bands from the fact that the media always writes bullshit about the bands that the kids and adults alike wanna read about and know more about but aren't getting the real stories because of the lies from the media and press.
5:05 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
now that was a reaction i wanted too see on this song. and if you think this is fucked up w8 til you hear one in a million uncensored version ofc otherwise it does not count as a true reaction
They wrote it because of magazine printing lies about them and people lies about them..
A lot of people write this song off as kind of a joke, but this song captures an aspect of GNR that you would only really know of if you’ve seen a lot of their shows. Axl used to go on rants and call out people all the time at their shows, heck he has even called out his own band members live before
This song was their way of calling out the the media and how they always made the band sound realy bad in the press and even after interviews the media would change what the band said to make em seem rude and nasty and violent .
No, the drug trip is Mr. BROWNSTONE
Could you do a reaction to the band Opeth? good starters would be To Rid the Disease and Harlequin Forest
When I first heard this song it was great and typical of their bad boy rep.....but as time passed by this song did not age well. When I go back to listen to songs from this album I normally just skip over this song cause most of the other songs are just so much better. This is NOT a bad song, it's just doesn't hold up as strong as most of the other amazing songs from ILLUSION #2. Keep smiling🤘🎸☺
easily top 3 worst song for them. Great band but illusion sure had some duds
Only 'bad' song on the uyi albums. At least my world is hilarious.
My World
Shotgun Blues
I alway skip this song don't worry the next 8 songs are very good
Shotgun blue and breakdown ate good
