Thanks, Tadas. That's great information about what to expect and how different this role can be depending on the company. I haven't been in that role, but I could see myself getting into it in the future.
Good content! Thank yo for taking the time to make this video. How can I connect with you? I'm trying to transition into DevRel and I'd be glad for your insights and personal advice.
I think the easiest way is to start doing the job before having the job. For me, I started teaching about Flutter and did talks and advocated for flutter (because I genuinely enjoyed and believed in its future). And that led naturally into a Developer Advocate role. I think if there's a company you are genuinely excited about and interested in, doing the job of a dev advocate for that company will most likely lead to that company noticing you, and give higher likelihood to get hired by them.
This is how you KNOW the market for developers has gone downhill. Anytime an industry emerges to help you "land that perfect 6-figure dev job", you know it's over.
Be the connection point between engineering and the customers. We work closely with the engineers to make sure the product aligns with what customers want. And also educate the customers on new products with documentation, content, and potentially through the product. The difference between devrel and marketing is that it’s from a technical standpoint. We’re not really there to sell the product directly, but we’re there to educate

If creating content and helping community is what you enjoy (which it seems like you do) i think its a great fit

Hi, as a developer Relation, how good you need to be in coding?
I`m curious too , I see a monitor reflecting on your glasses .. what is for ? 😁
Couldn't underdstand. How does devrel differ from marketing, content-writing? Any first principles definition or why/what of devrel?
