First time viewer. I’m an astrophysicist gone innovator. At a VERY ripe age! Love your style. I’m going to launch something. Follow your steps. And as I get my first sales, ask you to help me further it. Yes, we’re looking at weeks and months but the time is now. Thank you for striking the match
@@jonobacon Thank you for sharing this: @stevenmusielski from X was asking me what 3-4 examples of the best online communities are that have been around 5 years or less. What are they and who are the people leading them? How hard of a question is this?
Great video my friend it has helped me break my freeze and I have formulated an outline for how I can move forward with my community building website thank you!!
Thank you for this. I am currently working on a project for marketing school and they want me to create an OC. I learned more in this video than in the OCM course I'm in currently in.
thanks jono ❤ I'm planning to partner up with a creator with an audients and build a paid community around them. But dont know what niche to choose 🤔 Any ideas? Thank you 🐨
Thanks Jono enjoyed that. Have you seen many communities that use video sharing as their primary means of engaging or has text/chat, with only some visual usually the approach.
Thanks so much, Andrew! Great question! Most communities tend to use text as a primary gathering grounds...such as forum or chat, but I am seeing more and more communities running virtual meetups ion Zoom on a regular basis to bring people together. I have done this a bunch and it works well. :-)
Tiktok is full of people who just blurt out their thoughts while in a car or at home but i havent yet this way of communicating transfer amongst a community. time will tell
Hey Jono Bacon, I've been wanting to make a website similar to the SCP Foundation's website or Welcome Home's website but I want it to be about Cartoon OCs that are inside a fictional realm, do you recommend any website I can go to in order to create this community for Artists and Writers.
I don't think it changes that much. For example, when I started www.communityleadershipcore.com/core - I started with a small set of members to dial everything in.
@@jonobacon when you invite them in though the community is empty so its a bit of a chicken and egg with a paid community no? Or do you give it to them at a high discount because its a soft launch? 🤔

Thanks! Platform depends on your community. Slack and Discord great for chat communities. See ruclips.net/video/QHHyP5VHwhE/видео.html for how to decide. Discourse great for a forum. See ruclips.net/video/z3qp_uB46FA/видео.html for a primer.
GREAT video! currently have a youtube page with just under a 1k subs thats pretty active for the amount of subs. Trying to herd those members to an community page with more options and features. Could use any advice or direction, im all ears! lol Im a deer in a headlight lol Thank you for this video
Thanks so much, Marty, for the kind words! I think a lot of this depends on the kind of community you want to build and how much time you want to devote to it, but a simple solution could be a Discord server with bots where your RUclips content is automatically published there. If your channel is focused on a product and you want to have product discussion, a forum is probably a better fit.
@@jonobacon Aweome. This is definitely something im looking to move into full time. Its a channel geared towards sound (using mpc. reviews, compariosons, etc) Sound Society is the page. Any places or rocks to look under, id be apprecaited to hear steps tactically speeaking. Keep up the good work!

Great content, well presented. Is a Hard Launch #7? When might monetization be considered and evaluated?
Thanks, yeah I should make a video on the right time to sell. :-)
How does the soft launch change with a paid membership community?

This is very useful. But what platform do you recommend? That seems to be the most confusing (and critical) decision.
Thanks! Platform depends on your community.
Slack and Discord great for chat communities. See ruclips.net/video/QHHyP5VHwhE/видео.html for how to decide.
Discourse great for a forum. See ruclips.net/video/z3qp_uB46FA/видео.html for a primer.
I suggest people powered to a lot of community enthusiast here. 😌
Wow, thanks so much, Biswajeeta! That is wonderful!
I saw i was born to be a unicorn😊

This was extremely helpful, Jono. Do you have a breakdown of the various forum options? Discourse looks powerful, but kinda intimidating to set up 😬
