@pereKstor Pete was a huge inspiration to Dilla, I really doubt he was trying to one-up Pete or something dumb like that. This beat isn't flashy and complicated - it's just smooth... and just right.
Erskin Hawkins II DJ premier is the best producer hands down, over 30+ of not just producing music but 30+ years of bangers! Nothing but top notch production, check the beats he put out this year (2018) on his PRHYME II album and also a whole bunch of songs from his guest production on other artist's albums. The Undisputed king of production without a doubt and not only is he the best producer but he is also an amazing DJ, as he does his own cuts 99.9% of the time. How many producers do you know that are a living legend with both production and scratching/cuts??? I cant think of any that are elite in both.
stroll along stroll along wit me to the tre, to my home where I was born and raised, anything can happen in federal way, be real to what u do and what u say, cuz ain't no tellin when u hit that grave, but when I die I know I'm saved, I'm not forsure but I'ma still be knockin on heaven's gate, but anyway, we gonna see better days
One of my biggest inspirations as a beat producer. He didn't just bring his music to life, he gave it a soul.
Those Dilla snares are awesome, thank you very much Jay Dee ! :)

Dilla did what The Beatles did and ended up influencing his heros, best achievement a musician can hope to accomplish...
Peace
