The best English band of the 80s (with The Cure right behind them). I would consider The Police and The Clash but they recorded half of their best stuff in the 70s.
Saw The Smiths live in 85 when i was 21, Since then they have been my favourite band. Seen Morrisey also after the band split, Again he was awesome, Its one band id lve to see reform but sadly it'll never happen, Every sont The Smiths done are classics and dserved to be reacted to, Just bear in mind They are a very "British Band"
@@kevcall I have seeThe Symths many times and never disappointed, They are the closest to the real thing as you can get. A brilliant tribute band that always sells out where ever they play.
@@kevcallYeah, agree, saw them a couple of years ago, they were great. I saw the Smiths three times in my younger years and The Smyth's are the closest I've heard 👍
Great reaction, thanks... just so you know, "a jumped-up pantry boy who never knew his place" is a line from the film "Sleuth" - Morrissey's early lyrics had lots of steals from his favourite films, books and songs... other Smiths songs you might want to check out include There Is A Light That Never Goes Out, How Soon Is Now and Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before, but they're all good... Morrissey solo is very underrated - try Every Day Is Like Sunday, Last Of The Famous International Playboys, Hairdresser On Fire or November Spawned A Monster to start with...
And that's not all - the "pantry boy"/"return the ring" bit is also referencing the once-popular/now-forgotten historical crime novel Loving by Henry Green.
I was born in November, and my ex used to sing that line "November spawned a monster" on my birthday. He was joking I think.I actually still miss him, seven years on
This is a good one: Rubber Ring/Asleep. They were b-sides on "boys with the thorn in his side". You are not going to find a pair of songs from The Smiths that really exemplifies them at their creative peak. ruclips.net/video/KgFmIdsTErE/видео.html
I don't know if you have already but listen to: There is a light that never goes out, how soon is now, the queen is dead, panic, heaven knows I'm miserable now and please, please, please, let me get what I want.
That opening guitar riff. 1000s maybe 10,000 YT videos showing you how to play it... Not one, well not one I've ever seen has got t perfectly correct...

This was the first Smiths song I ever heard (way back in 1983) and it led to a love of the band that has pretty much lasted until today.
Omg what happened today? 😁
Same here. Saw the video on The Tube.
Ooh, mine was The Boy With the Thorn in his Side....I heard it in a pub and was smitten ever since
You can react to ANY of the songs by them they're all top tier
Great lyrics and musicians. They never disappoint.
There Is a Light That Never Goes Out. Also, The Boy With a Thorn in His Side. Two Smiths greats
The Dad heard the lyric " I haven't got a stitch to wear" ... 😉
What Difference Does It Make is the Ultimate Smith's Song 👌
‘Our frank’,is another good listen. In fact they are all deeply interesting.
The best English band of the 80s (with The Cure right behind them). I would consider The Police and The Clash but they recorded half of their best stuff in the 70s.
Don't forget Talk Talk.
I'm more of a Fall guy, but I did buy this when it first came out.
@@johnsummers9660 A very under rated band. They were brilliant.
Four great bands you mentioned
@@samajax Great band too. Smith was a one off.
This was the song that got me into the Smiths. Needless to say, they're now up there with Radiohead as my 2 favorite bands

"A jumped-up pantry boy who never knew his place"
Love Mozzer.
Thank you for the enjoyable reaction fellas
The music was written by the guitarist Johnny Marr and Morrisey wrote the melodies and lyrics over the already completed songs

Oh my Lord Rubber Ring is outstanding! And it doesn't get requested much but great suggestion

Just discovered your channel. Great songs covered. Love the father and son thing. Won't suggest anything but I am dying to :)))))
Do it!!!😊
@@jackndan6603 Okaay. Anything by the Stone Roses, Gorillaz, Crowded House and the studio version of Jungleland by Bruce Springsteen :))
@@SteveA308 OK,your in the Q.
British bands are a lot about the story, the lyrics and social experience and wanting change...
I sang along with the whole song!
I love The Smiths
New Romance by Beach House would be great, a very special song :)
Hit for the smiths in the 80s but not their best/deepest stuff, pure poetry though
Please listen to this: The Last Shadow Puppets - Standing Next to Me

Nice video 🙂
I love the Smiths, so engaging. Please could you do Live Forever by Oasis, if you don't know it.
This was so fresh in 83,not rockist or disco
