    That’s gotta be the dummest thing ever. They’re going to spend millions to lower the seating capacity below 100,000 people to put in a giant screen??? Are we trying to be like Auburn with their giant screen? If the students won’t show up and fill their seats, let the general public buy those tickets instead.

      It's about what the top players want and see at other programs. It's about modern amenities/seating configurations. It's about revenue generation by removing four smaller screens and inserting high rev generating lounges. If you want the program to be competitive in the future, this is what you want.

    • @Proudmule1
      @Proudmule1 6 лет назад +1

      The revenue will be increased by the new renovations. Even with the removal of some cheap seats the addition of high rev lounges more than makeup for it. Plus, makes the fan experience something people will want to come to see even at the less attractive games that are not sold out....even with 'last minutes'.

      No, decreasing capacity is necessary, unfortunately. Fan attendance is falling at stadiums all across the nation. NFL, MLB, NASCAR, and NCAAF attendance is in decline everywhere-- yes, even in the SEC (gulp!).
      Football as a sport altogether hit it's peak around the 2010s and it is now in the inevitable state of recession. I don't like it either, but we need to decrease capacity at Bryant Denny. It's just the current reality we find ourselves in as the market for college football expanded too aggressively in the past 15+ years, and it is now shrinking as it stabilizes itself for a more secure equilibrium going forward.

    I love that they're finally addressing the East & West stand concourses but I don't like that weird, clear colored mesh material facade they're planning to put around it (unless it's actually glass instead. If it's glass I'm okay with it). Regardless, an all brick facade is the way to go there instead. Brick just fits the college environment so much better than any other material.
    That gigantic scoreboard in the middle of the upper deck is just atrocious. You can tell AD Greg Byrne got a little too carried away with NFL stadiums when choosing architecture firms because both of those elements-- the sleek, futuristic clear facade around the outside & the gigantic scoreboard carved into the middle of endzone seating areas are NFL stadium earmarks.
    But that's the extent of my criticism. I LOVE everything else I saw in this video. The new recruiting lounge, stadium locker room, Walk of Champions entrance, the new medical training facility, and of course, Coleman Colesium are absolutely immaculate.

    • @sam21462
      @sam21462 6 лет назад +3

      You nailed it but you missed it too. Yes, the entire thing has an NFL vibe and there is a huge reason for that. All that stuff is just another layer to entice the recruits we want. Once this is done not only can we offer top shelf recruits their best bet at making their NFL dreams come true we can show them how that might feel as they tour the facility. Consistent winning in college football is more about recruiting than anything else and everything you see here is for one of two groups, very wealthy donors and wide eyed recruits. As for me I am all for it as it adds up to winning and I am all about winning.

    Seems like theyre going for a more NFL look which means theyre definitely gonna loose capacity. The question is; how much??

    • @graciel2313
      @graciel2313 6 лет назад +1

      ImNotMad But UR They are adding almost 4,000 premium seats and taking away maybe 6 or 7 thousand upper decks seats. The entire upper deck only seated 8,500 total when it was built (not including sky boxes which will not be touched). Some of the upper deck is left, the stadium still should be around 98,000 to 99,000.
      I don't necessarily like the way the upper deck will look though I do like most of the rest. They talk about enlarging all of the concourses and that was desperately needed.

    • @graciel2313
      @graciel2313 6 лет назад

      ImNotMad But UR I think the problems were that the ground level concourse areas were just outdated and didn't look good but the main problem was the upper deck concourse areas around the entire stadium. It was not built wide enough to accommodate concession lines and people trying to get to their seats at the same time. There is ALWAYS a bottleneck and a standstill behind each concession area. At each corner of the stadium's upper deck areas this was especially true.
      If the game was close to the end and everybody leaves at the same time it takes a long time to get out of the stadium if you are in the upper decks because the spirals won't accommodate the amount of people trying to get out. That is just what I have witnessed and complained about to the ticket office several times.

      DOUBT THEY WILL LOOSE ANY CAPACITY. ALREADY HOLDS WELL OVER 100,000 PEOPLE.
      TICKETS ARE ALREADY TOO HIGH. WHY WOULD THEY ALIENATE FANS EVEN MORE,
      DOESN'T MAKE SENSE TO ME AND PROBABLY NOT TRUE.
      PLUS, ALABAMA FANS DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT THAT FANCY ASS SHIT ANYWAY. THEY WILL BE STANDING IN THEIR SEATS SHAKING THOSE SHAKERS AND USING THE HANDLE TO STIR THEIR WHISKEY DRINKS LIKE I USED TO DO !

    To be honest, I am not happy at all that they will dip back below 100,000. Not many stadiums have it and I was so proud the day when we finally did. But to be fair, that whole section up there was just lazy student seating who all left after the pregame anyway. Gotta admit the jumbotron will look cool though, and the interior is fabulous.

  • @Geep615
    @Geep615 6 лет назад +1

    This almost as dumb as the seats they took out at Neyland ( VOL fan here). Alabama has a huge loyal fan base and the stadium should be for them to make as noise as possible not for some stupid giant TV.

    Coleman looks great!
    BD is ridiculous. Taking focus away from the game and making it a entertainment venue, where people just show up and watch a performance. Atmosphere will dwindle and, eventually, the product on the field will, as well.

      Most of those nose bleed seats are empty outside the large games. Up the production value I'd say, give fans more reasons to attend the game rather than watching it from home.

    • @fredmeyer369
      @fredmeyer369 6 лет назад

      @ImNotMad ButUR - We have been very blessed but with the inventions of the UHD TV and probably not long off that Cable or other means will be presenting crystal clear video of the game such as being there. When it comes to raining, most fans will stay home and watch the game from their own comfort. Just makes more sense and if the game becomes out of hand, you just flip the channel. Basically just incentivise fans to show up for the games because of the amazing experience. Seats no longer matters, the experience does.

    Put a retractable top with the big screen TV in the center instead of loosing the seats. Similar to the Cowboys stadium except maybe use a strong flexible material that could roll up and down the top and change the name to the BEAR BRYANT-NICK SABAN STADIUM and call the field either DENNEY FIELD or GEORGE DENNEY FIELD ROLL TIDE !
