No he can't and neither can anyone else. Not enough play makers and I hate lvd and Winfield are taking alot of heat for a defense that can't be fixed. I feel like the plan was to use tucker more in the second half but we had to get away from the run once we were to far behind. Also I think it also bucky was having a really good game. But whatever tucker will get his chance im sure. Its awesome that we have 2 really good new fresh rbs. I am fan of starting the game with White/bucky, white is great in pass blocking and bucky makes them chase. Then in the second half when the defense is getting tired pound them hard with a fresh Tucker. We need a lead to do that though.
Ronde Barber refers to Bowles as a defensive genius. I think the key injuries are to blame. It's hard to build a house when your tools are kitchen utensils. Many people ignored Baker's circumstances for 6 years, and he's now showing everyone how good he truly is with normal circumstances. Bad circumstances shouldn't be just conveniently labeled, "excuses" and ignored.
What's holding us back right now is a few key positions on the roster. We lost lots of good players from our superbowl year. Marpet, White, Jensen. JPP, Shaq, Suh. And we owed Brady and Jensen.
I think it’s a few things. LVD’s fall off can’t be underestimated, it’s probably the main catalyst for their regression. Thats to be expected though especially considering his age. Winfield for his standards has been garbage this year. No splash plays except the not fumble and a td. Multiple times he’s left corners on an island when he shouldn’t have. Those guys are the faces of the defense and u can make the case that they’re both having the worst seasons of their careers. Compounding that is KJ Britt who just isn’t an NFL player. Doesn’t have the athletic ability. And finally it’s bad drafting/development. Who from the 2021 2022 and 2023 draft classes have taken major leaps defensively. Outside of McCollum and Maybe Hall no one has. Diaby and Kancey haven’t developed, JTS is a jag, we all see KJ Britt. Players age and young guys pick up the slack, it’s not happening here. The soft zone and busts happen all too often so Bowles is still majorly responsible but I feel like the Front office and stars need to get some heat for this as well.
And even on that AWJ play . He got beat 😂😂 this defense hasn't made any plays. If the offense doesn't put them up by 14-21 and play with a lead. This defense can't win games
The only that can fix it is Jason Licht. He needs to stop screwing up our premium draft picks: JTS, Logan Hall, Braswell, Kyle Trask , Barton that should never be our first rounder when we have other more critical holes in the roster. Jason Licht needs to learn that free agency needs to be used to sign players in needed positions. He also needs to learn that no serious contender relies only on the draft to build the roster. He also needs to learn that mediocre players making the roster does not mean he is drafting well. JTS would not be a starter in any of the top 16 teams in the NFL, the same applies to Logan Hall, KJ Britt, Funderburk, Hayes, Greg Gaines, Bredenson, Mauch. So making the roster should never be a way to measure draft success because last time I checked we did not have many Allpro or pro bowl players in the last 3 years.
defensive scheme and communications does not create poor tackling. that is on the players performance. funderberk getting beat was not on bowles well except for bowles playing a rookie udfa. still a lot is on the coaching bowles coaching. However, I think a fair portion of blame is just on poor player performance.
Todd bowles defense is hard to learn because he makes simple things complicated. That doesn't make him a genius. In fact I'd say the opposite. He's a genius in his own mind. He is so slow to pull players who suck or put in players who are better than the starters. He's too soft, stubborn, can't manage the clock and can't make adjustments to save his life (and his job). I get it, nobody wants to fire the coach and start over. At this point it's time to lock up Liam Cohen so he doesn't get a head coaching job somewhere else. The offense has looked better than ever before and we finally have a run game. At this point I would accept any dc that isn't Todd bowles. You can look around the league and 26-28 defensive coaches are doing it better than him and they don't have Vea, kancey, diaby, Lavonte David , Whitehead, Winfield jr. Etc. I think it's time to move on from bowles and let Cohen run this team.
Jameis, Winston got us a bunch of yards and a bunch of touchdowns and also turned it over the worst in the league. We didn't win that way with him. We're not going to win it with Baker playing that way

It did seem like we were not burnt in slot over the middle all night. seemed like a few runs and few deep chunk plays. mostly... they did do better in the second half. however, they failed hard in the forth quarter 1st and 22... your season on the line, you have to make that stop. but you let cousin scramble for 15 or something WTF!
Collectively we don't have the right personnel or attitude to be a good defense. They gotta clean house and draft some real rough riders or bring in better coordination. I'm tired of watching this zone scheme fail.
They gonna struggle against the Chargers, Raiders and Cowboys, stop saying it gets easier, no team are a easy game for this defense, won't be surprised if the Panthers scare the hell outta them
Baker could have saved the game if he did not throw the 2 picks, but the defense forced him into the position to have to save the game. Baker throws most, not all but most of his picks when he is like 2 scores down and trying to play hero ball. This doesn't excuse him, he needs to be more aware of his tendencies and be more careful. But it would help if the defense did their job and did not put him in those positions.
Both picks were on third downs and served as punts. The receiver had caught one of them and let the defender take it out of his hands. It was actually a perfect pass under the circumstances. But your point is right about the defense forcing him into bad situations. This is the second game against Atlanta where the defense appeared helpless, no adjustments made from first game. Many of us were crying for the acquisition of an edge rusher in the offseason, but even without one for some reason Bowles wouldn't blitz. The one time I recall a blitz they almost got to Cousins and he had to throw it away. Why didn't they keep doing it? Those safeties weren't doing much good in coverage, you might as well blitz. They are making every QB look like Hall of Fame quality. Very frustrating.

If the defense was just the 20th best defense, the Bucs are 6-2 right now with a sweep over ATL. Inexcusable. Also algorithm help.
