the angel dust album among other points had some of the most original arrangements and melodies that it easliy qualifies as one of the greatest albums of all time
Absolutely.
A milestone. It got sidelined somewhat but I guarantee anyone who came of age then will go nuts if you play that 'Midnight Cowboy' outro.
One of the best albums of the 90s, hands down. Each track has its own unique vibe to it, yet they all mesh together to form a cohesive album.
Yes, and these horrendous music videos they released for the album don't reveal that at all.
Totally Agree! Everyone of these so called musical artists around today should be forced to listen to Angel Dust over and over until they understand song writing. Definitely in my top 10 albums of all time. If I'm ever stranded on a desert Island I'd better have this album to listen to.
Mike Patton is one of the greatest singers ever, unbelieveable range in his voice & up there with the very best.
Vinnie Dixon I read his range is larger than axl rose!
@@jeffmclearen1421 You read correctly as Mike Patton has the highest vocal range of 6 ocatves which is half an octave more than Axl Rose
Fuck yeah mate.
You are wrong. Mike Patton is the greatest singer ever. Only one behind him is Greg Puciato
@@Azwethinkweizso I think not
"Angel Dust" is truly a Masterpiece.
For sure I had this album on loop for like a year non stop 😁
This { A Small Victory } is a masterpiece! ❤
Yes absolutely. It was then, and it is now. And probably will be in another 20 years
The 90's definitely were the best era for music videos.
That's what happens when you used to get 5m $ budgets
Alex La-Chiusa music in general was at its best back then
Awww I miss the old MTV!!!
@@kali7906 I also miss The Box. Remember that network?
Randy H. No I never had that channel.. was that on cable?
Angel Dust is a masterpiece. One of the greatest "Alt Metal" records, and so much more than that. This is one of the best songs on it, maybe even the best.
I have just right now discovered Faith No More and Mike Patton with this video. My jaw was dropped the entire song the sheer talent is shocking my system I cannot WAIT to delve into their entire discography!!!
@@jwest28 check out many of his bands, mr bungle, tomahawk, fantomas.. so many other projects too

All the songs are amazing but my favorites are Caffeine, Smaller and Smaller and Be Agressive !
@@jwest28 you are about to endeavor on an amazing adventure that you will not regret
"If I speak at one constant volume.......you still won't hear,you STILL won't hear ".
One of the best lyrics to any song in any style of music.
My favorite part of the song.
I believe this is a thing his Dad would say to him, as he pushed him in football. IIRC this song is about his Dad (coach) who was super hard on him and drove the love of the sport out of him.
At one constant Rhythm, right into your ear
@@hesher4life interesting, that makes sense,... considering the theme of the song, and video where did you read that?
I know this is silly but i felt so smart for noticing it
I’m 40 years old and I grew up listening to this . The sight of Mike Patton still makes me feel all flustered
same
I’ll second that
me too sister !
Finally someone who maybe can answer on simple question that's on my mind. Not for this great song it is about song Real thing. Someone have time?
Same here 😍
Faith No More is the most underrated band of all time.
not underrated. They influenced many famous bands, who are paying respect to FNM
Mike Patton is a legend . What a voice and talent.
This song has aged incredibly well.
their bizarre lo-fi older videos still work
It shouldn't bother me, but it does
Still one of the 10 best albums of all time.
Agreed
not sure of album but single ................. you could b right
C'mon The underrated RV, along with the melodic Midnight cowboy at the end?
It was their best album and dare I say Pattons best album until Peeping Tom.
But he makes me feel ghey so I may be biased lol.
carterscustomrods way ahead of their time!
For sure one of the greatest albums ever
Maybe it was because I was young, but this early 90's era was like a blitzkrieg of good music. So many good bands.
Agreed... I remember when this video premiered on MTV during the fall of “92; it was an event, the station even hyped it a bit, but with grunge, alternative rock and gangsta rap in full swing, we were in the land of the giants then, and it must’ve been tough to see the forest for all the tall trees. Still, this song was one of my favorites from the year.
you're not wrong. Just look up the album releases of 1992 alone.
@@jademonolith Exactly. It was really hard to get burned out on music in general. So much variety.
No, it was a blitzkreig of great music.
1991...
Seems inconceivable that this album was released nearly 30 years ago. Still one of my all-time favorites, but it makes me feel old as fuck. Im also really happy that Mike is still kicking, unlike so many great vocalists from this musical era.
Orgasmic to say the least. There is nothing like this anymore
The old ones are the best! What an amazing sound. Brilliant.
I geekgasmed over his TMNT theme. Nostalgia overload!
Mike is amazing still
The guy never stops working. His band Tomahawk just put out a really great record about two months ago.
Eat your heart out Kieids, Patton's range here is brilliant!
Stringer Bell Kieidis will never be a third of the singer Patton is. That guy is pure gold.
Fun Fact; Anthony Kiedis has A.I.D.S
Eat your heart out everyone, Mike Patton has a 6 1/2 octave range
Now let's talk about the bank account...
But kledis is loved by millions and has a few millions too. Patton is way too underrated.
Genius band. One of the true gems of the 1990s.
If I speak at one constant volume, at one constant pitch, at one constant rhythm, right into your ear, you still won't hear....
Sounds like talking to a Trump supporter :D
Ironic really.
Any one else pass by this comment while the lyrics are sung
@@dannyc7839 lol, moron...

Man this is straight pop metal. I cant think of any other band who has ever fused the two genres so uniquely. Absolutely brilliant. This album is forever one of the greatest achievements of metal music, and just all music for that matter
the hooks
The album is a crazy rollercoaster of different genres. Masterpiece.
💯 a small victory
It ain't anything metal, c'mon let's get real here.
Alt Metal.
Mike patton is so beautiful ❤
Almost 27 yrs later, Angel Dust is still - beginning to end - the greatest record I’ve ever heard. Buy it on your little computers or phones or streaming thingamajigs or whatever you kids do today... *walks away holding my lower back*
Amazing talent
Superb comment 👌👌👍🤟
I think mr.bungle has made better albums than faith no more. I wish it was more popular
@@edp9863 i'm not very familiar with mr. bungle (loved their chili peppers gutting). what's a good introduction?
@@wordup897 all of their music is really good and has a lot of hidden meanings and effort put into them, but where you start shod really depends on what your favorite kind of music is. If you like more calm music then California (1999), if you come from a rock and metal background then Disco valante (1995) but my favorite is the debut album Mr.bungle(1991) which has a ska/rock mix
It was the darkest of times. I had just received news that my left arm which was injured during a trip to the Antarctic, required a little known medical procedure. For some reason this song was playing during the surgery and has stayed with me ever since. It still makes my little finger on my right hand tingle. 😮
Most underrated song EVER and way before it's time.

I thought I heard:
"Another one slain" instead of "the null of losing" -I think either have the same message, but I feel like the slain reference gives more OOMPh. Let me state that I'm only typing all this to express my downfalls in hearing words, but also I might stubbornly keep those heard words for my own self.
"IT! SHAPES! A PART OF ME!" instead of "It shouldn't bother me" -I always interpreted it as a reference to PTSD associated with fighting in a war...but either line DOES offer the same interpretation?
Regardless, so thankful for your lyric post!!! Thank you!
@@sleep_is_awesome2838 Yeah. Whatever you like...but it is "null of losing"..all good though. I couldn't hear "F for fake" in Stripsearch..for yrs how stupids that. Mike is a really great guy that's finally opened up after yrs of hiding behind a shyness disguised by silent confidence. I miss him.

Huh, say what?
@@hugostiglitz5186 , the lyrics
@@ynot021078 The lyrics, what? I'm still not hearing you.
Saw an interview with krist from nirvana and Kim from sound garden and it was so nice to hear them not only give FNM a thank you for bringing on tour but also about what role they played in the entire transition to “grunge” etc. they are very well respected and almost worshipped by other musicians which says so much. They are almost to good to be completely mainstream although I know you can argue they were. I’m sorry but I can’t find anything that sounds like them. Incredible sonic explosion.
There will bee a new hella good song one of these days
FNM is such a unique band they do what artists would call career suicide. They could've easily just ride the wave of sound from The Real Thing and be Mega Superstars but they have too much integrity and create and play what is true to themselves and not giving a fuck. This is why Faith No More is one of the greatest bands of all time and criminally underated.
Yeah nah yeah yeah nah! Definetely not mainstream, just a few tracks! Awesome band- gem of an album indeed!
Když jsem byla mladá, byla jsem do něj zamilovaná. Je neuvěřitelně krásný 😊
Mike is so much more than a "Great Vocalist" ... He's a true Frontman !!.
His crazy imagination and creativity are a thing to behold...
He does look like a god in this video.
He is!
Rock God
Because he is a god.
Possibly their greatest song in my opinion.
Of course, there are at least 15 other songs I could say the same thing about, depending on the day...
It's definitely one of them. I just started listening to Faith no More a few months ago after an almost two decade hiatus. It's unreal how much better they were then most of music that's cranked out now.
"Of course, there are at least 15 other songs I could say the same thing about, depending on the day...."
That's 100% how it should be!!!
@@nick5591 Well they're one of the greatest and most unique bands in history, so...

Please name them all, I’m trying to get into faith no more
I appreciate the fact that Mike Patton consistently evolves to be the type of man I am attracted to all these years
I'm gonna tell Mulder
I thought like you until nowadays. Not a fan of his current hairdo, it seems to me like an attempt to be unattractive, LOL. But damn, he’s gorgeous.
One of the best albums of that wonderful minute in the 90s where almost everything was worth hearing.
Omg Mike Patton is so good looking ladies!
mike patton is a genius.
Why? What makes Mike Patton a “genius?”
@@michealhuff2299 cause he is a 1000 voices man
all the so-called competition, dudn't have a chance: because he had the faith-no-more band behind him,
who else could say that? not many, if any! the actual band, of course wasn't great, til mike walk'd in,
i don't know what he did, but whatever it was, it was enough to at least record a handful of great, memorable tracks, whatever they were called, ha ha
more than the actual songs, was this idea or pitch: these guys were mavericks, much cooler-than-all-those-other-little-jerks, it was in the way they walked, and it was in the way they would deliberately not really come up with much, composition-wise, in the classical sense of songwriting- but it didn't matter, that was the point! there's plenty of great, clever songs and green-day-quality-melodical-perfection, this group of skeptics and doubting-thomases was gonna do it *their way*, not anybody else's..... it work'd...
and it still works... boom!
Excelente musico
Mike Patton is God.
The epitome of the 90s. It doesn't get any better than this!
only one million? fuck this world!!!
I remember when I bought this album. When I came home my mom wanted to see what I picked up while shopping. When she saw the album cover she said “is that classical music?” Lmao!
hahahahaha.....haaaaah😂😂😂...."Yes it is". I suppose you said that....I would it. 😂

As a straight man, I can see what you're saying... : )
He looks like a cross between the singer from The Fun Loving Criminals and Johnny Depp ❤
Mike Patton patrimonio dell’umanità 🤘🏻🙌🏻
They were ahead of their time; especially, this album. The Real Thing was really good as well, but does have a late 80s/early 90s vibe to it. Angel Dust was amazing!!!

Marcus Nispel. He also directed C+C Music Factory's "Everybody Dance Now" music video (they share the style) and a few indie flicks.
mrValdez Thank you !
When I bought angel dust I was also reading the "dark tower" books by Steven King. I would play this album over and over while reading those books and I know I came close to discovering a new world.
I see you remember the face of your father! But, alas, the world has moved on.

I drove my roommates crazy in 93 playing this cd over and over, and over. and over. Their best work.
Haha....👍🏻
Angel Dust only gets better with time. This cd was given to me in high-school by a skateboarding buddy, while I was listening to Mr.Bungle...he was like "I think this is the same singer" and its when this record was new. Yea im old lol
One of the best albums of all time
no matter what shit is happening be it good or bad this song always makes me happy. Thanks man
i remember seeing this video and INSTANTLY becoming a FNM hardcore fan. Angel Dust is such an underrated album. Saw them live in Honolulu old Aloha Tower. Man that was a lifetime ago. I know all the lyrics to this song! almost 30 yrs later. Not sure why this song of all the music i listen to (classic rock, retro, reggae, dancehall, house, rap, hawaiian, pop, metal, speed metal, jazz, smoth jazz) speaks to me like no other…
It doesn't matter if I sit down and play this song, or if I walk into a room that this song is being played mid-tune: I will ALWAYS know the EXACT word to lip-synch to, DRAMATICALLY. This song is simply etched into my DNA since 1993.

43 years old..... these guys take me back to when i was a teenager. Love them much more today than i even did then. In retrospect its easy to now see how they pioneered and influenced many bands that would follow them in the alternative and grunge era. Bands from Chilli Peppers, Tool, AIC, Rage, to Limp Bizkit or Linkin Park!!! .... i hear them all in these guys. FAITH NO MORE are on my GOAT list!!! Love em!!!
Fortunate to have seen their first and second tours. My roommate and I left the headliner, Billy Idol, to go meet the band after they opened. Sweetie pies, all of them. Love their music!
don't put no-talent acts like limp bizkiet and linkin park in the same circle as those bands. they sucked ass.

Maria Pratiwi My brother knew Mike. His ex girlfriends cousin used to date him back in the 90's. Really cool and talented guy.
Mike Patton can do anything with his voice. He uses it percussively on this song (“it shouldn’t bother me…”) and it fits so perfectly you don’t even realize it. There are many great singers but there’s only one man whose voice can do anything.
this is why i love FNM well written and playeed tunes and interesting vids.

Its funny I didn't really care for this much when it first came out when i was a teenager in the 90's... After listening to the Album From Out Of Nowhere nothing could compare for me... But now as an adult 20/30 years on you really have an appreciation for the music & its background!!! All their Music is awesome & speaks to me in different ways now than it did before!!! I was 13 when this came out. First FNM track I ever heard. It came on the chart show in the UK as soon as I heard Mike Pattons vocals, I rushed to the VCR with a tape. Never had I heard a band like this before.
Angel Dust should have been HUGE. One of the greatest albums of the entire 1990's.
Criminal that they were so under appreciated
Angel dust came out when I was going through puberty. I use to put it in the CD player on repeat when I went to bed and made my life so much better at that time. Angle dust is so crisp and clean. Love that album
Every Faith No More song is the best ever until their next track plays.

Just here 23 years later to comment on how swoon-worthy Mike Patton is in this video.
Old souls, there is something about them you recognize instantly. A presence, something eery. No matter the physical age, you can see there is something very ancient looking at this world, behind and through their eyes.
I was in HS and MTV promoted this video a few week ahead of time. I called off work at the grocery store after school to watch it! This is my favorite album of all time. Angel dust...
Everything about this is perfect.
If you truly give them a chance and listen to every FNM song, even their covers.... musical arrangements and with Mike’s vocal rage and range: utter brilliance!!! 👌🏽 I still love and appreciate them very much. They are to me, the epitome of musical geniuses.

God, he's so sexy. I've been so lucky to have seen them in my 20's a few times and then again when I was pregnant with my son. Plus I got Patton's autograph at a concert for his side project Fantomas. The wife of the drummer(I didn't know) seen me take out a picture of Patton out my wallet and told me she could get it autographed for me. I thought she was going to bring him out, but she came back with is autograph. I still have it on my dresser to this day! I will always be a fan of this band!
+SneaksterMK-other than Patton working in Faith No More, Fantomas (the concert where I got his autograph) was one of his other projects he's done. The other band members are from other bands. Mr. Bungle is another earlier projects Patton has performed in as well. Very good, check it out.
