Nice soil finisher I think you’ll come to enjoy great video Jacob can’t wait for the 2+2 to pull it I’d also work it in angle it evens the soil out better
It's a low cryogenic pressurized liquid... liquid only when under pressure at atmospheric temperature and pressure. It boils into gas when the pressure is reduced or relieved (like passing through a valve or regulator, which is why the distributor and hoses frosted up in a previous video. Anhydrous ammonia was actually the first common refrigerant, but was phased out for consumer use due to its toxic and potentially flammable nature, in favor of SAFER refrigerant like R-12. Later! OL J R :)
I like it. Wish you could try my JD 1100 field cultivator. Has the tines on back. 24' ( I have pulled it with as little as 100hp) foldup, 3pt. ( I despise that pull stuff for the very reason you ran into). Excellent for leveling out the field. Incorporating chemicals. Leaves the field ready to.plant. If your planting flat. Excellent tool!!!
Nice looking rig... something similar down south in our area called a "do-all", basically similar but a spiral chopper reel up front, sweeps in the middle, drag harrows on back. Newer stuff seems to be going more to treader wheels or rollers or crumbler baskets on back. Oh in another video you said anhydrous ammonia wouldn't burn. Untrue... the X-15 rocket plane used anhydrous ammonia as rocket fuel. Later! OL J R :)
You need to buy a roller Harrow like a Keewane or Brillion. That will smash all the clogs seal the dirt up and save the moisture that you have lost in all the disking. You can buy used ones for 2-3000 Thousand dollars and they will do a hell of a job finishing that ground !
That would then become the most expensive tillage tool we have. And after the last couple years, the goal of tillage has been to dry the soil. Around here, it's never too dry and usually too wet.
If I have ruts in a field I use the field cultivator. The only time it isn’t my tool of choice is with lots of grass or with a heavy crust. I think you will like it - I wish I could find one like it in the size I want. Guys don’t seem to let go of them once they have them!
Bad thing about big hard clods on top is when your planter starts bouncing over the d@mn things and your seed spacing and placement goes all to h3ll... Why I started pulling rollers behind the hipper on my last pass before planting-- roll the clods down flat so the planter is riding on a smooth "highway" rather than a bumpy holey dirt road so to speak... Later! OL J R :)
The way I look at how cultivators level so well is that they are like running your hand over heaped sand The sweeps take from.the hogh spots and use that dirt to fill in the low spots. Disks do that somewhat but they dont drag the dirt like a cultivator. Clear as mud?🤓 Some of our fields would make a cultivator cry with rocks. We would definitely need a mechanical stone picker if we went with a cultivator.
that looks like mine got at a farm auction $300 perfect for small grains but plugged in heavy cornstalk residue. you need a 2394case on there ride in style man
According to tractordata.com very similar tractors. IH 3588 drawbar hp tested 126.15 PTO hp tested 150.41 IH 1466. drawbar hp tested 123.20 PTO hp tested 145.77
when the press wheels bounce over those clods he gets variable depth seeding. That way he'll have the depth of the seed all over the place so in case of a heavy rain or no rain some of the seeds will always come up.
Boehm Farm I had the same problem. I needed an 18 foot set of rolling baskets but no one seems to make that size. I ended up buying a 24 foot set and the outside basket/frame off to make it 18 foot. Now it’s perfect size and I have 2 spare baskets in case I need them. Just something to think about
No it's worse... shorter the tongue the tighter the implement turns to the tractor... you just stuff a tire into a disk blade or something which is worse. Later! OL J R :)
Jacob you always have the best camera placement, I love watching all your content! Your haircut looks great too! Stay safe and stay well ♥️

FYI, NH3 is a liquid under pressure, not a gas. It only becomes a gas when comes in contact with air. Nice video! Ron

Looks good man. Sweet chunk of iron.
We have a field finisher just like that, but we have the rolling baskets added after the harrow.
I think the rolling basket would work better then the floating harrow ? Or maybe use both ?

WOW, quite the dust bowl you created … that sure churns up the soil.. hopefully you have been getting some rain since then 🌨
You are really starting to get some nice equipment
Looks like it works well!
Very nice video! Hope you have caught some rains! Northwest ohio...we are in a draught!
Hey, it's Southwest Ohio. It always rains, and then manages to be too much.
@@boehmfarm4276 we just caught our first rain in 2 months a couple days ago. Look slike we need to farm around I-70 then haha
That 1466 is one bad A tractor .many hours lovedit
good job ,Greetings from Poland
I was always told to remove ruts with a disk you do figure 8s all the way down the feild
In the best of worlds, it would be enough
to drive over it once and a seed drill
behind would top it all.

Some of our fields would make a cultivator cry with rocks. We would definitely need a mechanical stone picker if we went with a cultivator.
But if you disk, you'll hear the rocks.
You ever used a cultimulcher?
That tool is capable of leveling out chiseled ground with no problem. No need to run a disk ahead of it.
Hi Jacob will you put snoopy on cultivated when repaired
Hows the 2+2 coming along
That's the story of us farmers, the rain always seem to go around us. 😂
That wasn't a problem for me last fall. Sure wasn't!!!! 😛
Usually isn't a problem here. We usually need less rain.
nice soundin tractor
What’s ear corn gone be a ton this year ???
Consider replacing the harrow with a rolling basket and you'll really like it.
I wonder if there is room to work a rolling basket and keep the harrow??
@@boehmfarm4276 I'm not sure you'd want to. The rolling basket will break up the clods and level the worked ground, what else would you want?
I think if you only run the shovels 2 or 3" deep you will find it does the same job leveling and only brings half the rocks up.
Love it keep the vids coming please

Hello neighbor.I will keep watching.
Thank you
Nice set of equipment
So just curious, why do you apply NH3 instead of broadcasting dry fertilizer? Cost maybe?
NH3 is the most concentrated and cheapest form of nitrogen fertilizer.
Urea is overrated anyhow
Yeah anhydrous is the cheapest form of nitrogen... but it's also the most dangerous. Later! OL J R :)
That thing would look good on the 2+2
But it would break the 2+2 lol
@@chadjustice8560 How so? The 2+2 not be able to match the 1466s drawbar pull?
According to tractordata.com very similar tractors.

IH 1466. drawbar hp tested 123.20

It's right there with a 1086. They aren't high horsepower tractors, just lots of big, nimble wheels.
@@boehmfarm4276 Agreed. And thank you for the research Roger
you should do an equipment tour video
You always have quite a large ammount of clods. Seems like a packer would help
Yes, packer or crumbler would be good, but they all seem to be twice as wide as I need.

Are you planning to try no till?

Hello from IL
Is that thing hard to pull compared to a disk of the same width?
If you bury is deep enough. It's a solid pull when it's the first past after chisel plowing six weeks before.
Chubby’s!!!
Is your finisher about 20feet wide
No, 14.
Hows the chickens doing. Have a good one.
They are not liking the heat.
@@boehmfarm4276 , same here. My bees dont like it. 100s here in california.. have a good one buddy and take care.
I stopped at chubbys today and got a milkshake..
Nice.
Seems like a shorter hitch would be much better at preventing wheel stricks

👍👏👏👏
Do you need to go that deep?
How deep will the crop root?
I guess the IH 2+2 is still broke down
It's on one piece now, just detail work left.
I thought you were done planting
Its close too a dual all is it a 25 foot maybe 18 foot
👍👌🇨🇦❤
looks like youre about to lose a back window out of the 14
Been looking like that for a while.
