i love this implementation samsung is putting forward, I bought one as a uni student for my flat, and it is amazing. first of all the size is perfect, doesnt take up much room on my desk, and the fact I can either just do the work from the browser provided on the monitor and do stuff on the cloud, i can also plug in my laptop to do work and gaming on a bigger screen. the fact that this also implements the function of a tv, i can just netflix and chill on a weekend while laying down on my bed, without the need of plugging in my laptop and getting up to change an episode. such an amazing implementation, i love it. however, next time if samsung introduces a higher refresh rate smart monitor, ill definitely consider upgrading then, but for now, this is one of the best samsung products i had, and a good 3 in 1 implementation :) also the fact that this thing only costs £230 retail price (i got it for £160 on a student discount) is amazing for what it can do at such a low price.
Hey Kamil. Love to hear the positive feedback for the Samsung M5! You pretty much nailed it. This monitor is great for downsizing and using a single screen for multiple uses. Ideal for a Uni student living in a small space. Although it might not have the greatest gaming spec since it's only 60Hz and has a 5ms response time (this is lowered using Game Mode and connecting a compatible console), the built-in applications make this monitor so useful and hassle-free only having to deal with a single decive. Glad you are enjoying it mate 😊
Please, PLEASE, turn off the background music, it quickly becomes annoying background noise. It is beyond me why RUclips content creators think it necessary playing music over their voice. You are producing excellent videos having very good and needed information, yet ruining viewers experience playing music over your voice. Many folks have hearing difficulties thus the music over your voice, for them, impedes what you are saying.
Hi! I'd like to know whether or not this smart monitor comes with the accessibility features for the bind built-in it? if you can help me, please check it in the settings.
Seems like a perfect fit for a 2nd or 3rd monitor in a home office setup or as a entertainment solution for a bedroom. Only complaint is that it isn't 4K.
I agree, this would be great in those scenarios! Something I do on a daily bases is game while watching streamers on Twitch. Knowing that this monitor wouldn't be using by PC's ethernet bandwidth and also not add any additional strain on the GPU to display the stream is awesome! 4K with the features this monitor has would definitely be epic!
I believe the Samsung M5 uses the 'Smart Hub' to download and install apps, and I don't believe you can use Google Play to install other apps which are not available, but this wasn't something that I looked further into sorry. As for the VPN, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use a VPN while connected to a PC or other device. But if you want to run a VPN just through the monitor alone, I am unaware of what app or program you could install which will allow you to do this :(
Hi, can you explain how I could connect a coax cable service to this monitor? Would I need an external tv tuner to network cable service with this? Thank you!!
Hello! It's hard to compare the VA panel in the Samsung M5 to other IPS panels as they serve different purposes. IPS panels generally have a higher refresh rate, and faster response time but a lower contrast ratio. Even though you can play games on the M5, it's more suited for entertainment and work. Therefore a VA panel is the better option for this type of monitor. Hope this helps!
You didn't cover this (and of all the reviewers out there, no one covered this), but wonder if you know. I plan to use it for work as a second monitor, and i dont like wires, so am thinking of using it as a second monitor for my laptop, connecting via wireless option. Does it work well working on spreadsheets, attending TEAMS calls, reading and responding to emails, reading and updating word documents and powerpoint slides as a second monitor? I know the wired option definitely works and everyone spoke about wired option when they mention it as a second monitor, but i think that's ignoring the advantage it has over other cheaper options.
Hey Andrew. You are 100% right, this was a feature that we forgot to mention! I did connect the Samsung M5 wirelessly as a 2nd display, however, I noticed that there was a little bit of latency in the display. It wasn't a deal breaker as less cables is a big win, but I could notice that the mouse curser did drag behind a little bit during use. This wouldn't be a problem if it is only displaying your email, Teams etc. But if you are trying to copy paste numbers in an Excel sheet, I think it might begun a little a little bit annoying if you keep clicking on the wrong section due to any latency. Do keep in mind though, that the Samsung M5 model featured in this video is as be replaced with the Samsung M50A which is the newer model. So I can't really say if the wireless latency is still a problem or not.
Hey Neumy. I am not as familiar with the Samsung M50B, but after a look at both monitor specifications, it seems the M50B is the new model with a few changes. Majority of the main specifications like resolution (FHD) and refresh rate (60Hz) are the same, but the M50B has a Response Time of 4ms(GTG) compared to 8ms (it also still has the Game Mode feature which I presume would lower this even further when paired with compatible devices like a PlayStation 5). It has a wider Max Color Support of 1 Billion compared to 16.7 Million and also has a few new features like Game Bar 2.0 (which displays information like Input Lag, FPS, HDR, VRR, Sound Output and other gaming features). However, 1 downside is that the M50B no longer supports Bixey which means you can no longer use the voice assistant through the remote control. Unfortunately, this was one of my favourite features of the Samsung M5. Everything else at a glance looks to be the same between these monitors. Hope this helps 😊
Oh that sounds like a dream match for your truck! As long as you have a WiFi connection, this will work out well. Make sure you turn on 'Game Mode' in the settings for a faster response time while gaming on the PlayStation :)
Hey mate. Yes, the Samsung M5 would be a good monitor to pair with a standard PlayStation 4 as the original console was only capable of producing a maximum of 60 fps at 1080p, which is the same resolution and refresh rate as the Samsung M5. Do keep in mind that if you have a PlayStation 4 Pro, you would not be able to play games at 1440p or 4k resolution on this monitor. Hope this helps mate 😊
@MwaveAu How is the screen quality? How fast does it refresh and it is nice to use for work and gaming? Does it have batteries or is it constantly connected by a plug? Is FULL HD 1080p enough to play games..? please respond!!!
There are two HDMI ports, but one of them says HDMI (ARC). The HMDI ARC is used for outputs, but can i use it as a second input as i have 2 PCs that will need to share a monitor?
Hey Xavier. Yes, it does. The Samsung M5 has the same support for AirPlay 2 as the Samsung M7. Keep in mind, that the current model available is the Samsung M50A, which is different to the monitor in this video but has the same AirPlay 2 functionality. (AirPlay 2* is backwards compatible with AirPlay 1* devices)
How to access remote PC? Has it got rdp installed? I would like to use this monitor to display cameras as the nvr is upstairs (and the remote pc is next to nvr).
Hello! This isn't something I have tried but I don't see a probably with getting 2 of these monitors for a dual monitor setup. Btw do you mean using these as a dual monitor setup with both being connected to a PC or just as stand-alone screens running say, Netflix on one screen and Office 365 on the other?
@@MwaveAU yes was thinking of trying it out as being connected to "PC" (through a surface book 2 & docking station). Wouldn't normally consider two of these it but they were having some good deals yesterday so figured I'd inquire - now I'm leaning towards getting one of these smart monitors and a regular flat monitor as my dual monitor set-up
I think that is a good choice! The Samsung M5 is great as a standalone monitor, but realistically, once it is connected to a PC it does lose some of it's special features in a way as the PC can now connect it to the internet, run Netflix, Office 365 etc. It still has it's place in a desktop set up however as it's ability to connect to the internet and run apps means you can game on your PC, and watch movies on your M5 without actually using any downloads from your PC or put any extra strain on your GPU. In a dual monitor setup connected to a PC, I would recommend one of the monitors to be a standard monitor with a higher refresh rate and response time like you are currently leaning towards :)
Question: Can i connect this monitor with my laptop via wireless network ? That is either mirror/ duplicate or extend the screen, without the need to attach for example a Microsoft Wireless Adapter, if that is possible, Thanks
Does it have settings to enable IP control and wake on lan? These settings are under “expert settings” under the network settings os most Samsung Smart TVs
Kia ora Rob - Have two questions thank you - I purchased my M5 yesterday at a Noel Leeming store here in New Zealand - Prior to my purchase I asked "online chat" at NL two questions 1 - does the monitor have a built in web camera for zooming etc ? - they replied yes. But it seems there is no camera !! 2 - Can I split the screen in three parts to view say - Excel, PDF and a zoom all at once ? - they replied yes. But I cant seem to find the feature to do this. * Appreciate your advise, thank you.
Hey Millan Ruka. Firstly, I do have to mention that the Samsung M5 which I used in this video is an older model which is no longer available. However, the newer Samsung M50A is almost exactly the same with only some small changes to the features and specs. Also, keep in mind that monitors from different regions can sometimes differ from a region to region. 1 - Unfortunately, there is no built-in webcam on this monitor. I am not sure why the "Online Chat" would have said that there was (Unless this is different from the NZ mode). 2 - To my understanding, if you are using the built-in 'Office 365' app, then you wouldn't be able to have multiple apps open at the same time and only a Fullscreen mode would be usable (Unless this is different from the NZ mode). If you are using the Samsung M5 as a display and paired with a laptop or PC, then would definitely be able to have multiple applications opened in different zones on the monitor. Sorry to only have bad news for you mate 🙁
Hey - thinking about picking this up today. How is the brightness? Would be using in my room where there would be sunlight during the day. 200 nits is concerning me. Thanks!
Hey William. The max brightness on the Samsung M5 is 250 nits, which is still a little on the lower end but I didn't experience any issues which I was using it. However, I didn't test it out in a sunlit room. Do you currently have a monitor being used in that same room? And if so, what is the max brightness of that monitor?
I'm late to the party. I was wondering since it's an all in one monitor/tv. Is it possible to connect a Chromecast to it? If you for example don't wanna use the built in apps? 😊
Hello! This was not something that I actually tried as with all the features of this monitor, you can do almost anything that a Chromecast allows you to do anyways. But I don't see why a Chromecast wouldn't work in the Samsung M5 as it is still a normal functioning monitor at the end of the day :)
Hey Ajay. Unfortunately, the Samsung M5 does NOT have Google Cast built in. Although you can connect a Google Chrome Cast device to the M5, I do not believe that you can use your Google Home Mini to control the TV on its own.
Hey Simone. If you are going to be pairing this monitor with a Nintendo Switch, then yes, it would be a good choice. I believe the switch is capable of 60Hz at FHD (1080p), so you would be utilizing the monitor and the Switch to their maximum refresh rate and resolution. Unfortunately, I am unable to answer your question about connecting multiple devices to this monitor at the same time as this was not something that I tried. During my testing, I only connected my phone to it to try out the Samsung DeX feature. The keyboard and mouse I used were connected through the USB ports at the back. The Samsung M5 should have BT4.2 which from my understanding, can support multiple devices. But sometimes different devices can play up and not like being paired with other devices on the same unit. So I really can't guarantee that it will work perfectly with your specific headphones, mouse and keyboard.
Hey Argyro. This monitor will definitely do the trick for editing with FHD and HDR10. It just comes down to a personal preference if this size monitor works for you and your work space.
Nice video Robert, I love all of the functions but bottom line, how good is the overall picture quality? Is it clear with good detail and color? How is it when looking at excel spreadsheets? Thanks 😊
Hey Charlie. I honestly did not mind the picture quality. For a 27" VA panel at 27", I didn't have any complaints. I wouldn't say it's the greatest picture quality ever, but it's not bad. What would you be using the monitor for?
I think the features built into this monitor would be perfect for your needs. With Office 365, you can even do your Excel work. Again, the picture quality was good, I had no complains while using the Samsung M5 :)
Im interested to buy this smart monitor after watching your video. a simple question, how does it connect with apple ipad air for AirPlay, are this need a HDMI adapter?
Hey mate. All you need to do is connect both devices to the same WiFi network, then find the Samsung M5 Smart Monitor in the AirPlay App and connect :) Keep in mind that the updated version of this monitor is the Samsung M50A, but the connection process should be the same.
Does the cable connection works between the M5 monitor and a Samsung Galaxy S10 (for example) for using Dex ?. I read that it's not working with an USB-A input (like all available in the M5, no USB-C). Thanks for your feedback.
Hey Chris. Unfortunately this was not something that I tried with the Samsung M5. I connected and used Dex with a Samsung S9+ using Bluetooth and not a cable connection.
Hello! The Samsung M5 can be used to edit videos, but I would recommend a monitor with a higher screen resolution like a 1440p or even 4K display. Of course, it does depend on what type of videos are you editing but a lot of videos are starting to branch into 4K edits and it would help if you could also see what everything will look like while you are working on it :)
Hello! Yes you can. Generally, any monitor with Flicker-Free technology is good for programming. However, a monitor with a higher resolution would give you more space to have more tabs open at the same time, without compromising on size.
I'm planning to buy this monitor. I'll be using it mainly for office works. And ofcourse for binge watch or playing music. I've a concern regarding if there is any pixelation issue (as it is 27' with 1080p resolution) during reading, typing/programming for long time? I'm going to use it as my second monitor for MacBook. Please help me out. Thanks
Hello Xristos. I think it's a great little monitor with a bunch of nice features like the built in apps and being able to connect to WiFi on it's own. Probably the only question is if you want it as a stand alone monitor/tv in your room or if you want to play games on it and connect it to a console or PC? If you want less cables and just the monitor to watch movies on, yeah I recommend it. If you want to play some competitive games like Valorant for instance, I would probably look for a monitor with higher refresh rate and lower response time to give you more of a competitive edge. Let me know if you have any other questions and ill get back to you when I can :)
Saw this monitor today and was baffled about how sharp ir looks at 27in being just 1920x1080. One downside is that the website does t say anything about color peofiles nor each reach in adobe rgb and other profiles. I do not understand why they dont market those points
Hey Gaurav, unfortunately this was not something that I tested out during my time with the Samsung M5. But I have looked into this question for you and under the 'Connection Guide' and 'Audio Device', there is an option for Bluetooth connected audio devices such as speakers, sounds bars, headphones and home theatres. So I would believe that the M5 does have Bluetooth audio out if it can connect to these devices. I hope this helps!
hey :) good video. does the office suite include the Microsoft teams app too ?? if so does it allow to take meetings and share the screen with participants during the meeting? I mean does it have full fledge support for the office suite ??
Hey Sanjay, unfortunately no, it does not include Microsoft Teams. I also contact Samsung support and you can't install Microsoft Team externally on the Samsung M5. Also keep in mind, that connecting a webcam into the Samsung M5 won't work, if that was what you were hoping to use this monitor for. Sorry for the bad news :(
Thanks for the review. I have the M5. However, when wireless screen sharing from windows to monitor, the mouse on the monitor is always an arrow. Even on links where it should change to a hand icon or on text areas where it should change to a single, vertical line. Seems like the monitor is overwriting the the signal from the pc and using it's own cursor. This is really annoying and the click point is not precise. When typing it's impossible to click on two letters. However, on my LG smart monitor this does not happen. I have tried two different laptops, one is win10 and the other win11 and three different mice. Nothing changed. Did you or anybody noticed this and is there a solution? I have called the customer support and they told me I should use the monitor with wired connection!! Thanks.
Hey Bora, I didn't notice this happen to me when I was wirelessly screen sharing from a PC/laptop. However, it was a long time ago and there is a chance that this did happen and I just did notice or use this feature enough for it to bother me. Unfortunately, I don't have a solution or any advice to give you about this sorry :(
Hey Clinton. Yes and no. The Samsung M5 does have some storage for you to be able to download and install applications, but the size of this storage isn't stated so I would assume that it's not a great amount. When it comes to work-based storage, it's all done through cloud storage and not on the actual monitor. As for if it is an HDD or SSD, I really can't say as it isn't specified, sorry. Hope this answers your question mate. Let me know if there is anything else I can help with 😊
Hey mate. The screws which I mentioned in the unboxing and used in the assembly process are the screws for the monitor stand. Unfortunately, I just checked the user manual and they didn't specify what type of screws they are. I believe they were similar to the wall mounting screws which at M4 screws, but that is just a guess. Sorry, I can't be more help mate :(
Glad you enjoyed the video! There are 3 major differences between the Samsung M5 and the M7 being the screen size, resolution, and I/O. The M7 is only available in 32" and the M5 is available in 27" and 32". The M5 has a FHD (1080p) display whereas the M7 has UHD (2160p) display. Finally, the M7 has a USB Hub with a USB Type-C port and 2 additional USB Type-A ports. Besides that, they are almost exactly the same :)
When using the easy connection app to connect wirelessly , is there anyway to completely hide the "your pc screen is being shared with a TV" icon that appears on the bottom right of the pc screen; It gets in the way and prevents you from clicking anything beneath it. I can't even move it out of the way.
Hey Tony, are you using an app to connect wirelessly? When I connected the Samsung M5 to another PC wirelessly, I just went into the display settings, and used "Connect to a wireless display". From memory, I didn't get any icons similar to the one you are getting on either screen. However, it's been awhile since I have used the Samsung M5 so hopefully this icon isn't something new which they have added. Let me know if you are using an app and what device you are connecting and I will see if I can help further :)
@@MwaveAU Thank you for the feedback. Unfortunately my PC doesn't support miracast. I'm using samsung's "easy connection to screen" app which results in a worse picture quality/lag as well.
I actually didn't try this but I do not believe that you can. I am pretty confident that the only games you would be able to play (without connecting a PC, laptop or console) would be the games available in the App Store.
Hey mate,. Unfortunately, I did not try to connect a wired printer to the Samsung M5 via the USB connection in the back of the monitor. So I would not be able to say with certainty if you would, or would not be able to. Sorry, I can't be more help 😢
I use this monitor as an external display for my MBP 13" M2 - but the text seems to be blurry and the only HiDPI option is at 1024x576 at 75hz (while everything is much clearer, it's such a small res). Is this an hdmi cable or firmware issue? Or is there a limit for the external display resolution?
Hello! Unfortunately I don't have the full list of apps available but it runs of Tizen. I tried to as much info as I could for you though: "Tizen has a large collection of apps and services, including media streaming apps like Apple TV, BBC Sports, CBS, Discovery GO, ESPN, Facebook Watch, Gaana, Google Play Movies & TV, HBO Go, Hotstar, Hulu, Netflix, Prime Video, Sling TV, Sony LIV, Spotify, Vudu, RUclips, RUclips TV, ZEE5, and Samsung’s own TV+ service. It is also compatible with various connectivity features like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Miracast, DLNA, and Apple AirPlay 2. It also features support for various AI-powered digital voice assistants: Alexa, Bixby, and Google Assistant."
Glad you enjoyed the video! Generally, a higher resolution monitor with Flicker-Free technology is always good for coding. The Samsung M5 does have Flicker-Free and the text was easy enough for me to read while I was using it, but it is only FHD. A monitor with 1440p or 4k will provide you will more screen room to have multiple tabs open at the same time, if you are working with a single monitor :)
Hi, Great review. I now have on off these.... Love it.. Question.. Other that Bluetooth is there any other way I can listen to audio from RUclips. Thanks.
Hey mate. As far as I am aware, there is no Steam Link app to play Steam games on this monitor. You would be able to play Steam games with a connected device, like a laptop or PC, but not through a stand alone App.
Hey Alex! Glad you enjoyed the video mate :) As much as I do like the Samsung M5, I wouldn't classify it as a gaming monitor. Even though it does have a Gaming Mode which works with the PlayStation 5 to lower the response time, you wouldn't be taking advantage of the specifications that the PS5 can output. The Samsung M5 can only display 60Hz and the resolution is only FHD, whereas the PS5 can output up to 120Hz at 4K resolution. Pairing this monitor up with the PS5 would also result in double handing a lot of its features as you would be able to download most of the applications like Netflix and browsing the internet on the PS5. If you are looking for a monitor solo for use with the PS5, then I would have to recommend something with at least 120Hz and a 1ms response time. As much as I would love to recommend a 4K monitor to top it off, I understand that the price might become a bit too much. So either go for FHD or a monitor that can downscale 4K to 1440p like the Gigabyte G32QC. Let me know if you have any other questions mate :)
Hey Aaron. It's been a little while since I got to play with the Samsung M5 but from memory, I don't believe there was a mute button on the remote control. You can always turn the volume down, or just have a look at the audio section in the OSD and see if you can mute it in there. If you are having issues connecting the correct sound source, you should be able to choose the sound output device in either the monitor or the connected device's settings. Let me know if I can further help you out with your problem :)
Hey, Love the video! My main function for the smart monitor would be to 1. Use as an extended screen for my MacBook - being able to have two screens is crucial and to be able to share my screens over google chat or the Around app with colleagues 2. Use it as TV to unwind after. Do you think my needs would be met? Thanks,P
Hello! Glad you enjoyed the video mate 😊 From your requirements, it sounds like the Samsung M5 would be able to suit your needs! You would be able to extend your MacBook screen to the M5 via wireless display, or through an HDMI cable (you might need an adaptor or hub if your MacBook does not have an HDMI port). I am not 100% sure if you would be able to extend the screen using 'AirPlay', as to my knowledge, this will only duplicate your screen and not act as a 2nd monitor. However, I will double-check this for you! You would also be able to use this monitor to watch TV through downloadable apps and even watch shows on streaming services like Netflix. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions mate! 😊
One draw back ... no Display Port. Makes it difficult to connect a laptop through a Dell docking station which has one HDMI port (already used) and 2 spare Display Ports. Can you recommend a 27" smart monitor with a Display Port option?
It's unfortunate that there isn't a DisplayPort on the Samsung M5 as most devices have a HDMI output which they have intended you to use, making your situation hard. I haven't seen another smart monitor and just had a look online only finding the Samsung M7 which also only has HDMI inputs. I am not sure if there is another one currently available, at least that I could find. Sorry :(
Oh, okay. Unfortunately, I don't have any information on either of those models, as I am guessing they are specific to the South African region or a different region than Australia. However, I would assume that they are referring to the old and new versions of the 32" Samsung M5. For instance, the Samsung M5 was discontinued and replaced by the Samsung M50A, which is the newer model. They are very similar in specs, with a few small changes. Sorry, I can't be more help than this mate 😢
Sick perfect mother good enough for me I’m gonna order this right now on Amazon because when I’m done doing my photography I like to do a little bit of work and then after a little bit of play on my PlayStation five ❤️🔥 I have a 2022 MacBook Air 16 GB and the 512 GB hard drive SSD ❤️🔥 so I am ready to buy this monitor it’s perfect 🤩
Hello! The smart features mentioned in this video are all included for free with the Samsung M5 Monitor. You do however require an active subscription for some of the applications like Netflix.
Hello! I unfortunately have an Android phone so while I was using this monitor, mirroring my screen with an iPhone was not something that I tried. However I didn't contact someone from Samsung support for you about this and they told me that their Samsung Monitors CAN connect with Apple product and should be able to mirror screen with an iPhone. If it can't connect or detect the device, it will be a compatibility issue, i.e an older model iPhone. Most newer models won't have an issue. The Samsung M5 also has AirPlay available for Apple users so you won't have any issues playing videos etc from your iPhone to the monitor. Hope this helps!
@@MwaveAU oh, that’s great because I’m planning to buy this coming october 2021 one last thing, is the color of the screen is okay? is it yellowish or shallow? thank you for answering my question 🤗
Oh you're gonna love it! It's definitely an awesome fit in any set-up. I personally really liked the picture and colour quality for an FHD, VA panel monitor. With HDR10, along with a few different picture display settings, it looked nice while watching Netflix and using it while working. To give you a little more info on the colours, it's 24 bits (16777216 Colours), if you wanted to maybe compare the specs with another monitor you have used and enjoyed.
Definitely would be nice! Although it isn't exactly QHD, consider having a look at the Samsung M7 which is a 32" UHD screen with the same smart monitor features and apps. It is a little more expensive than the Samsung M5 but something to consider regardless :)
Hello! Unfortunately, no. There isn't any support to download Adobe Suite applications and use them on the Samsung M5. You would be able to use After Effects through a different device and display on the Samsung M5, but not with just the stand-alone monitor. Sorry 😔
Hello again. I really enjoyed using the Samsung M5 while preparing for this video. But if it's "worth buying" will depend on your purpose for the monitor. What are you planning to use it for?
I'm just want to say that. in my home my mother want a tv so I thought if I go for this than both work will done for my mom as a tv and for me as a monitor. so would it be ok .🙏❤️💥
From the sounds of it, then I do believe that this would be a good choice. However, I do still want to make sure you are making the correct purchase. Check out the link below for the downloadable apps currently available and make sure that the shows which your mother would like to watch will be accessible. Available Apps: www.samsung.com/au/monitors/apps-on-smart-monitor/ For your work, as long as you can access it through Office 365, AirPlay 2* or Samsung DeX, then it should be suitable for your work needs. (Can also work as a normal monitor via an HDMI cable and PC/laptop) Also, just keep in mind that this monitor does need internet connectivity via WiFi to work. Hope this helps you make up your mind 😃
Hello Danish. I just had a look into the Samsung A51 and as of October last year, there should be an update that allows Wireless DeX Support. So you should be able to connect the A51 to the Samsung M5 in all the same ways which were shown in this video. Let me know if you have any other problems and I will try to help you out the best I can :)
Hi! Both monitors would be good for coding. The Samsung M5 is more of an All-in-One monitor with the ability to connect to WiFi and has built-in Apps like Netflix and Office 365. The Samsung CRG5 is a gaming monitor with a higher refresh rate and lower response time. So it depends on what you plan on using the monitor for outside of coding. If you are planning on connecting your monitor to a PC and used mainly as just a monitor screen, I would go with the Samsung CRG5 :)
Difficult to hear presentation due to background music being a touch too loud. Thanks for the review it was good with captions on.
Sorry about that. Glad you still enjoyed the video with the captions on :)

You're a great presenter Robert, mad monitor!
Thank you for the kind words Ramio! It really is an awesome monitor and I definitely enjoyed playing with it!

Hi! I'd like to know whether or not this smart monitor comes with the accessibility features for the bind built-in it? if you can help me, please check it in the settings.
So many great functions!!
@@MwaveAU There actually is a 4K version. It's the M7 35" and is $400.

Can you download apps from Google play? Can you use it with a VPN? Thanks
Thank you!!
how does this VA panel compare to other IPS panels
Hello. Would you kindly share your opinion between the 27" M50A vs. M50B? Thanks.
@@MwaveAU Thank you so much for the help! 😊

I’m an OTR truck driver and I can’t wait to use this monitor. Figured it would be great for both my ps4 and movies while I’m parked up at night
Oh that sounds like a dream match for your truck! As long as you have a WiFi connection, this will work out well. Make sure you turn on 'Game Mode' in the settings for a faster response time while gaming on the PlayStation :)
Can you connect an Xbox series s to it?
Is it good for gaming through PS4 console?
Will it play video file from the usb inputs, x265 Mp4 etc??
@MwaveAu How is the screen quality? How fast does it refresh and it is nice to use for work and gaming? Does it have batteries or is it constantly connected by a plug? Is FULL HD 1080p enough to play games..? please respond!!!

Hi guys, anybody knows if this monitor supports the airplay features like the M7?
Hey Xavier. Yes, it does. The Samsung M5 has the same support for AirPlay 2 as the Samsung M7. Keep in mind, that the current model available is the Samsung M50A, which is different to the monitor in this video but has the same AirPlay 2 functionality.
(AirPlay 2* is backwards compatible with AirPlay 1* devices)

would getting 2 of these work for a dual monitor set-up? or is problematic to use 2 smart monitors as dual monitors
Yes but it's laggy
Does it have settings to enable IP control and wake on lan? These settings are under “expert settings” under the network settings os most Samsung Smart TVs
Hello! I contact Samsung support about your question and they said that this was not possible on the Samsung M5. Sorry!
Kia ora Rob - Have two questions thank you - I purchased my M5 yesterday at a Noel Leeming store here in New Zealand - Prior to my purchase I asked "online chat" at NL two questions
1 - does the monitor have a built in web camera for zooming etc ?
I have this m5 and the hdr 10 not working on My xbox series s?
Does the monitor have Google cast built in? Where I can use my Google mini to controll the TV
Hey Ajay. Unfortunately, the Samsung M5 does NOT have Google Cast built in. Although you can connect a Google Chrome Cast device to the M5, I do not believe that you can use your Google Home Mini to control the TV on its own.

Would this be good enough to play Nintendo switch on via HDMI? Can it also have multiple Bluetooth connected at once (headphones, mouse and keyboard)
Would you recommend this screen for editing? Premiere for example
@@MwaveAU Netflix, RUclips, surf the internet, email, excel spreadsheets, no gaming.
I think the features built into this monitor would be perfect for your needs. With Office 365, you can even do your Excel work. Again, the picture quality was good, I had no complains while using the Samsung M5 :)
Background music is really distracting
Im interested to buy this smart monitor after watching your video. a simple question, how does it connect with apple ipad air for AirPlay, are this need a HDMI adapter?
Hey mate. All you need to do is connect both devices to the same WiFi network, then find the Samsung M5 Smart Monitor in the AirPlay App and connect :)
Keep in mind that the updated version of this monitor is the Samsung M50A, but the connection process should be the same.
Does the cable connection works between the M5 monitor and a Samsung Galaxy S10 (for example) for using Dex ?. I read that it's not working with an USB-A input (like all available in the M5, no USB-C). Thanks for your feedback.

Can i use samsung dex without connecting monitor to my samsung phone or tablet?
Hello! Unfortunately, you must have a Samsung DeX compatible device connected to the Samsung M5 to use Samsung DeX.
Can I use this monitor for programming ? Are there any other suggestions in this price range?
Thanks
Hey, I have the same question, have you bought it and if so, how is your so far?
Hello, is this monitor worth it for the money?
Especially during black friday, im looking for a monitor/tv to play games or just relax
Does this work for steam games ?

Has it got bluetooth out audio
Hey Gaurav, unfortunately this was not something that I tested out during my time with the Samsung M5. But I have looked into this question for you and under the 'Connection Guide' and 'Audio Device', there is an option for Bluetooth connected audio devices such as speakers, sounds bars, headphones and home theatres. So I would believe that the M5 does have Bluetooth audio out if it can connect to these devices. I hope this helps!

Hey Clinton. Yes and no. Great review, thanks! One question: what's the difference between M5 and M7? Best regards
In the ld osx preferences when clicking the display sizes with alt or option pressed. You would get more sizes. Perhaps try that
Does M5 has Airplay or only M7 has it ?

It also features support for various AI-powered digital voice assistants: Alexa, Bixby, and Google Assistant."
Great Review!!!
Is this monitor is gud for coding.
Any text blurring issue ?
Glad you enjoyed the video! Generally, a higher resolution monitor with Flicker-Free technology is always good for coding. The Samsung M5 does have Flicker-Free and the text was easy enough for me to read while I was using it, but it is only FHD. A monitor with 1440p or 4k will provide you will more screen room to have multiple tabs open at the same time, if you are working with a single monitor :)

Hi Robert,
I recently go the PS5, curious to know if this a good gaming monitor?
Loved the presentation btw. Keep up the good work.
Kind Regards,
Alex
Hey Alex! Glad you enjoyed the video mate :)
As much as I do like the Samsung M5, I wouldn't classify it as a gaming monitor.

Thanks,P
Hello! Glad you enjoyed the video mate 😊
From your requirements, it sounds like the Samsung M5 would be able to suit your needs!
Hey mate. Where abouts are you located? I am not finding any search results using both of the model numbers you have mentioned.
@@MwaveAU South africa
@@MwaveAU No problem. thank you for your help. Much appreciated
No problem mate 😊
Sick perfect mother good enough for me I’m gonna order this right now on Amazon because when I’m done doing my photography I like to do a little bit of work and then after a little bit of play on my PlayStation five ❤️🔥 I have a 2022 MacBook Air 16 GB and the 512 GB hard drive SSD ❤️🔥 so I am ready to buy this monitor it’s perfect 🤩
Sounds like you have got it all planned out! Let me know how the monitor goes once you get it 😀
I have this the screen is stuck sideways I have no idea how to fix this anyone know?
Do you have to pay for any of the smart features?
Hello! The smart features mentioned in this video are all included for free with the Samsung M5 Monitor. You do however require an active subscription for some of the applications like Netflix.
@@MwaveAU I just got the M5 today I really like it
Oh awesome! Hope you enjoy it! :)
Compatible ps3 fat?
Can you overclock it what’s the max?
Hello! This wasn't something that I tried on the Samsung M5 sorry.
hello! can I use iPhone to mirror phone screen?
@@MwaveAU oh, that’s great because I’m planning to buy this coming october 2021
one last thing, is the color of the screen is okay? is it yellowish or shallow? thank you for answering my question 🤗
Does it have backlight bleeding?
This wasn't something which I experienced while I was using the Samsung M5 :)
Can I connect my Xbox one to it using hdmi?
Hello! Yes you can connect an Xbox One with a HDMI. The Samsung M5 has a Game Mode feature for consoles to reduce the input lag while gaming too :)
@@MwaveAU okay cool
Would love this as a QHD option!
Definitely would be nice! Although it isn't exactly QHD, consider having a look at the Samsung M7 which is a 32" UHD screen with the same smart monitor features and apps. It is a little more expensive than the Samsung M5 but something to consider regardless :)
@@MwaveAU I thought about it! Ended up going with the 32" UHD Costco had on sale! Made a video on my channel 🙏
Very nice choice! Hope you enjoy it :)
@@MwaveAU thanks for producing this content also, keep it up!
Thanks for the kind words! :)
Is the screen bright?
Hey Alex, the screen brightness on the Samsung MS is 250 nits :)
Can you download after effects on it
Hello! Unfortunately, no. There isn't any support to download Adobe Suite applications and use them on the Samsung M5. You would be able to use After Effects through a different device and display on the Samsung M5, but not with just the stand-alone monitor. Sorry 😔
Can I connect headphones?
Hello! Unfortunately, there is no 3.5mm Audio out jack on the Samsung M5 but you would be able to connect wireless headphones via BlueTooth :)
@@MwaveAU thank you very much for your kind replay :) great review
Not a problem, always happy to help and thank you for the kind words :)
Can I connect my printer with a USB?
yes (I can)
Hey really cool review thanks for this ?
Not a problem mate!
@@MwaveAU after your review I'm sure it is worth buying?
Available Apps: www.samsung.com/au/monitors/apps-on-smart-monitor/
For your work, as long as you can access it through Office 365, AirPlay 2* or Samsung DeX, then it should be suitable for your work needs. (Can also work as a normal monitor via an HDMI cable and PC/laptop)
Also, just keep in mind that this monitor does need internet connectivity via WiFi to work. Hope this helps you make up your mind 😃
How i want connect with my samsung a51
Hello Danish. I just had a look into the Samsung A51 and as of October last year, there should be an update that allows Wireless DeX Support. So you should be able to connect the A51 to the Samsung M5 in all the same ways which were shown in this video. Let me know if you have any other problems and I will try to help you out the best I can :)
Can this model connect to 5GHz wifi?
Hey Rafael, yes this monitor can connect to 5Ghz WiFi :)
Which is better for coding, this or crg5?
