Get a really good listen as to how effects were used in a primarily analogue domain. It’s fun hearing these older tracks and understanding how far we’ve come in terms of what we have access to these days!
We have lists of different plug-ins that we can use to get the sounds that they get - but none of that matters if you don’t approach it methodically and with attention to detail. Their mastery of lower pitch and raspy sounds can be linked to the various elements found HERE! :)

James Hetfield has such a pleasant voice, still that warmth and tragedy even when he's shouting. I think that's one of the reasons why I love that band

Your doubled vocals really show how doubling can make a vocal line sound more interesting. Some people say it adds weight but I think it’s more those moments where the vocals are doing slightly different tones that make it have some magic. The more vocal breakdowns I watch from you and others makes me realize that nearly all my favorite vocalists doubled their vocals.

Howdy, Chris! Really glad I discovered you, as '86 Hetfield and Corey Taylor both make me 'squee!' like a wee lass, and I dig your approach! Hey, at ca. 32:40, you mention that Jaymz goes a bit (half-step) sharp on the second 'Master!.' He's actually just going for the roots of the E5 and F5 chords played respectively. Kinda sounds like he nails the F, but with him tapering off so quickly, it's hard to hear! It certainly doesn't help being a half-step ABOVE the E he's coming from, especially after filling out the surrounding notes right before, ie G (Obey) - F# (your) - E (Master) - F (Master).
Also, if anyone is gonna get all Internet on me, I was a college Music Professor before COVID, with three Masters' of Music. I'm not trying to be a dick, simply helping a fellow professional, just like his videos are a help to me!

I thought it sounded like it was Cliff just speaking in a really deep voice very close to the mic, proximity effect and all on the Master master, laughter laughter part.
Also, James' doubling is pretty damn good!
Sounds like there a phaser or something on the delay?
Master is supposed to be a half step up the second time, he follows the guitars.

I forget where I heard it, but at the time James was more focused on the percussive aspect of vocals which is why he didn’t care so much about pitch
For doing specific delays on only one word like that, I get lazy and just create a new track with the delay and cut the part of the take and move it down. It’s easier in my mind for some reason even though I’m pretty sure it’s actually not

Hey man, I love watching these iso vocal track reactions, and love hearing about the production and how the sounds come about. Your channel was recommended to me by RUclips a few weeks ago, and I subbed pretty much immediately. You have such a calm and cool way of breaking everything down, and it's very clear that you're passionate and knowledgeable about your work.
That said, I was wondering if you could try to find some songs from Seether (especially from the Finding Beauty in Negative Spaces album if possible) to analyze and break down. The vocal distortion seems so easy and painless, but such an iconic style, and the production that goes into the vocal work is very interesting and unique sounding. I would love to hear your thoughts on it.
Thanks for doing what you do, and I look forward to ever more entertaining and educational content.

I just noticed, he might not necessarily be forcing non-rhyming words to rhyme! It looks like he might be using an ABAB rhyme scheme for the chorus, which is a lot more common in poetry. Every other line rhymes instead of the usual way of doing it. That being said, he's totally annunciating every line in the chorus as if they're all supposed to rhyme! Metallica was my introduction to rock/metal music back when Guitar Hero was popular lol. I love these vocal breakdowns you do possibly more than any other content on youtube, ty!

I think more emo-esque songs would be very interesting to watch. Like maybe Deftones, nine inch nails, smashing pumpkins, Bring me the horizon, a day to remember, or always more Slipknot.
After watching your left behind breakdwon the ending of the song gives me goosebumps listening to it now. I no longer hear him laughing I hear him desperately calling out for help. I don’t know how to explain it but the breakdown and how you were explaining it all in that specific video was amazing to see you fit the shoes of that character. And I feel like more painful emotional songs would bring more of that “energy” I suppose you could call it
