We loved this curriculum for our 2022/23 school year and I’m so excited to do it again with my youngest daughter!

These look like wonderful stories for girls. My hope is that someone would create similar books for boys. I'm a history nut, so I would enjoy these.

Thank-you so much for your full review and for the other videos you’ve filmed sharing pieces throughout the year! My girls and I will be starting this in the spring semester; they’ll be in second grade. This series sparked my great love of historical fiction back in elementary school, and later of genealogies. I think my girls will love it too. So glad y’all had a great year with this program!

Can you provide a link for this course? I've never heard of this and loved American Girl books (and dolls) as a girl.

Awesome! This program just absolutely made our first grade year. And we dropped our language arts program (the “arts” portion) bc there was no need for it with all this reading!

@@ashleymurphy4813 does this make your daughter want the dolls? We're from Chicago so my kids have been to the store and I'm sure they'll be begging for the dolls now

@@sarak6401 I was afraid of that, but no, not really. She mostly just wants to create her own doll. But if she got them as a gift, she’d be stoked.

I already have the majority of these books, and most of the dolls too, or at least clothes that I can dress up another doll in the proper time period. FYI, I’m not a fan of Josephina either. I found her annoyingly shy. I wish my kids were a little younger, because my almost 13 yr. .old has moved on from these books.

Does it matter what order they are done in? I’m thinking of just doing individual girls bc the curriculum as a whole is a lot!

@@jaimewolf9036 hi! You can totally purchase individually but I would recommend staying in order with the girls you pick. Otherwise the timelines may get confusing.
With that said, we are back tracking to do Caroline bc my daughter wants to 🤪

Your library doesn’t have them? I checked out almost all of mine from the library and was able to find a couple on thrift books, but I have heard that thrift books has most if not all of them. Have you checked there?

We have an incredible library system but they do not!! 😢😢. I think I’ll just bite the bullet and start collecting on eBay and thrift books.

The American Girls are fictional characters based on real historical time periods.

What happened to community helpers and my family units for little kids? They can't understand those complicated issues at such a young age. Any history is above their heads. Nothing existed before they did in their minds. Keep them innocent of such things.

@@SandyBarth1 perhaps! My daughter has been curious about the world and how we all got here since she was 3. And we introduce the tough subjects gently. Please keep in mind that every child has different interests and are more mature than others in their readiness to learn certain things.

@@jaimewolf9036 I understand that. However, I do not believe that children need to know about every evil thing in the world at such a tender age. This is MY opinion and I do not need to investigate how I personally feel about a subject. Thanks for trying to school me though!
