Back in the middle 80's I drove a Datsun 810 station wagon. 810 was latter renamed Maxima so you know it was kind of a "personal luxury car" from that brand. Engine was pretty similar to the 240/260Z. Fuel injected straight 6, all aluminum, overhead cam. Plenty of power in a relatively light car. The 810 I had was a 5 speed stick and driving that car made me appreciate the Z cars for what I previously never gave a second thought. World Class cars that anyone could afford.
Fairlady is the Japanese Domestic Market(JDM) version of the car. I just picked this set up at Hobby Lobby today for $115. Saw it and had to have it. Can’t wait to set it up!
Overseas it was the Fairlady. An easy way to identify one is when the side view mirrors are mounted on the front fenders instead of the doors. Also Fairlady cars will (generally) be right hand drive. …and say Fairlady on them. lol I believe they called the Maxima the “Bluebird” back in the day. Different names for different markets I suppose. Love the videos, keep ‘em coming! 🏁🇯🇵
In Japan, That's a Datsun 240Z/260Z Fairlady. We had one years ago with which we ripped out the factory L26 inline six engine and replaced it with a 350 small block Chev that ran an easy 11 second quarter mile all day everyday.... Brought back great memories. Aurora AFX first released that model back in the 1970s....
new subscriber here would i be able to use this set to build a layout on say 4 feet long by 2 maybe 4 feet wide of plywood im limited on space so looking for a set that will allow me to build a small layout
It's a Datsun 240z one of the most beautiful cars ever designed.
In Japan, the Nissan was the Fairlady with a 2.0 liter engine and in the States it was a Datsun 240Z with a 2.4 liter engine.
Thanks for the extra information!
I was fixing to post that lol but yes dautsan is cooler sounding

Those cars look great. Now who ever gets these, they should take out the road magnets so you can drift in the curves.
COULDN'T AGREE MORE!
Can you use other afx track's to it

Just found this set today. I’m really hoping they release just the Supra slot car separate. That’s all I want from it.
In 1971 it was a Datsun 240 Z
Thank you for helping!
