Boy as a 65 year old, It gives me hope listening to these young people’s views. Great podcast. Sitting here with a cup of coffee, smoking a Farmer grade pork butt on the Treager. Tork I can relate to your story about your dad, my father was a WWII vet and spent 3 years of his life wandering around the islands of the South Pacific carrying a browning automatic rifle. There was never anything that wasn’t possible. Great show

One of my favorite Barn Talk’s to date. I listen to every episode wile working in the shop building mattresses. My wife could not understand why a guy that owns a mattress factory would listen to something called Barn Talk. As I told her and everyone else, it’s not just about farming. I do have interests in agriculture as my grandparents on my mothers side operated a small family dairy farm for their entire lives. As a kid my grandpa on my dads side was teaching me how to build mattresses and run a business. While my other grandpa was teaching me how to milk cows and grow a crop. I have tried to take everything I have learned from both of them to make natural, quality, mattress here in southern Wisconsin. We see the same thing in mattresses that you were talking about with food ingredients. Today most big brands put so much chemical crap into mattress that many of them sleep hot. So the solution is to add more chemicals to make them cooler. Then of course once they add all of that chemical thy become highly flammable so we add some more chemicals to make them fire retardant. Or instead of that insanity we can make a mattress the way they were made 100 years ago. One of our best sellers is a mattress made with a “Marshal Type” spring system (steal coil encased in fabric), natural cotton, natural wool, and a cotton cover. The mattress is comfortable, durable, affordable, cool to sleep on and meets all federal fire standards because wool is natural fire resistant. You really have to question how many other products out there are made unnecessary complicated. Love the show and keep it up. Ryan Poppie, The Beloit Mattress Company.

On a lighter note… I made a somewhat strong comment on a short that hit my feed earlier today with this gal, my wife and I made 7 kids in 13 years. Devout practicing Catholic folks. It was dang harvest season that always got us. Lay a blanket out on a full combine grain tank under the moonlight.
I still have that old 9500. It’s a pasture pet per se, and my kids have asked me why I refuse to sell it. My wife is gone now. ALS took her from us, but the memories of sipping champagne and eating chocolate covered strawberries. I had camel bags that hung off the side of the combine. The water was nice and warm. We’d get all squeaky clean and climb up the ladder. Maybe eat some cold fried chicken… it’s the marital embrace, no shame in it, and it’s how the best crop we’ll ever produce is sown. Farm kids!

My condolences Sir. My Father recently lost my wonderful mother, and his wife of 53 years. I'm the youngest of 6, and have been spending almost as much time with him now as when I was a kid. Also proud to say, my two son's(18 & 22) have been keeping a close eye on Pap too. Taking him fishing & shooting, stopping by often, to see if he needs anything, or just to keep him company. Between us, my siblings & their children, we've been pretty successful keeping his spirits up. It comforts me to know, even though I don't know you, that I'm positive that you surrounded by loving children & grandchildren of your own, to help you through your loss.

I'm a middle aged white guy & I feel the same Alexis 😂 Keep spending your time learning about new, positive, important things like this, and you will have a great life. If you don't mind a little advice, I suggest getting involved with the things that and intrigue you, if possible. I'm sure you can tell, most of these type of people are not only open to, they are excited by new people that show interest in what they do & I guarantee if there's something you'd like to try, hands on, you'd be surprised how willing people will be to take you under their wing 😉 Good luck!

Joy, I liked your passion for conservation. John Kempf rocks. We've intentionally created all these crop pests because of our monoculture practices. We must recognize and track each and every cover crop benefit. Then capitalize on them. Full till, no covers loses over $100 per acre in soil loss. No-till with covers loses around $8.00. Can't just grow covers then kill. Search Dr Jim Stute and his research....good stuff. Thank the hog guys for removing the white crud from Sawyer's mic boom too....

Great Pod Guys! Glad to hear there is a girl out there "influencing" people for the better! I might not agree with everything, but I have the same train of thought as you guys. I only differ on a couple things that aren't even worth talking about. I would also like to say it is scary to see how much Ideocracy got right hahaha. Even the crocs! I didn't notice it until I saw a director's cut thing about it. KEEP IT UP! I'm trying to support every way I can!

I grew to a 5 figure mark with my portfolio having exposure to different areas of the market, including small and large-caps of the ETF index, blue chip stocks, coins, grade bonds and alternatives like cryptocurrency markets, as this helps manage the overall risk on my portfolio managed by my FA.. Credits to my adviser, Jonathan, i have no doubt investing more

52:30 it's tough to say capitalism mixed with healthcare has the effect we see because you don't account for regulatory capture and gatekeeping. Would the vaccine have been as big if it were blanket mandated by the federal government? Likely not. Capitalism isn't the issue when it comes to our society, it's the socialism we let in, letting the government pick winners and losers at a whim for their own personal gain and at our detriment.
