i have the polk L600s .they are spectacular in their price range but when i listen to sound demos of them on the youtube , they aren't even remotely what they are in person . As nice as it is to see and hear a bit of music on sound demos it reveals very little as to what a set of speakers are really like
Yeah I know what you mean. One can't get a feel for the presentation a set of speakers can provide from a phone recording posted to a low res RUclips video. Then you have to consider what the person listening to the video is using to hear it. You can't pick up on all the depth, width, or spacial ques in a phone recording. Most phone microphones aren't going to capture the higher frequency's or worse just distort them. So yeah, not perfect lol.
Very nice setup. I heard a lot of good things about Polk R700. SVS is well known (I own 4 subs from them, inclusing SB 16 Ultra). I wanted at some point to buy an ADI dac, but I went for Eversolo DMP-A6 at the end, which with the latest software upgrade got a graphic and parametric Eq.
@@leatijoseph828 kinda tough for me to answer since I haven't listen to the new SVS Towers. But I've seen the data or measurements on a couple of the new Tower models. I guess you are referring to the Evolution Titan because they are closer in price to the Polk's vs the Evolution Pinnacle. From looking at all the data the SVS might be better for Movie/TV performance. The high frequency is more extended & tilted up vs the Polk's...which could be better for clarity & dynamics. If not using a sub I think the bass is more extended with the SVS as well. The Polk's seem more balanced & neutral for music but for movies the SVS will probably be more exciting. I haven't heard them so I'm just guessing from what I've read. I use the Polk's for 2.1 channel music & movie watching & I'm quite happy...no center channel needed. But it's certainly no surround set up.
These speakers sound incredible what are you using too power these? I dont know shit about audio or amps or pre amps or recievers but i know i love the sound of these speaker's.. if this is just a taste of what they actually sound like then damn actually being in that room must sound breathtaking..
Yeah, between the crappy phone microphone, sound reflections, and then whatever the viewer is using to listen. Not a very accurate sound demonstration..but a slight taste..maybe.
They are pretty impressive. I didn't really like them at first and was about to get rid of them, but after putting a few hundred hours on them the woofers started sounding much better. Now they have a good balanced sound. They are kinda big. I sit about 8 feet away, and only a couple feet behind me is the wall. But my room is open on one side, vaulted ceilings, and a few feet to the wall on the other side. I can put the speakers pretty close to the front wall though, doesn't seem to affect the bass or sound in a bad way. I'm happy with them and glad I didn't get rid of them right away..I feel those woofers need a little time to loosen up and sound correct.
@@psysword yeah I'm still digging them. Good all around speaker. They appreciate some good power but I've found they aren't hard to drive and sound good with a wide assortment of musical genre's. My favorite speaker at the moment. I'll probably have them awhile.
@@psysword take a look at the Martin Logan Motion F100's or the Motion 60xti.... If you think the R700's are impressive those speakers will blow your mind
Make us stronger - Ghost Rider XPA-3 would push them just fine. They are pretty good. The fact that I'm still using them is kinda a big deal for me..I tend to switch speakers a lot. Your room will have a large affect on what you hear. You need some space, bigger room with these. I'm sitting 8ft away but i bet it would be even better if I was 10ft. I also have PEQ in my system. I have to pull down a couple db in the 600hz area & the 3-4khz area. But those boosts could be due to my room. I've been using a Hypex Nilai 500 amp on them lately..it's a really good pairing.
Id say it is very quiet with good amount of power. Compared to other amps I've had lately it seems to have a more refined top end. Seems very transparent and smooth, it's going to sound as good as the recording. Might seem like a lame description but I'm not sure how to describe it. Honestly I think it's expensive for a solid state amp, but it sounded and performed so well I kept it.
It's actually pretty good. I didn't buy it for that purpose but ended up using it that way for my digital sources. Initially I was using my old Lexicon that cost a few thousand dollars. I have a couple tube preamps I swap in every now and again but I always go back to the RME. The PEQ works very well also for adding or subtracting anything in the frequency response. The way they implemented the digital volume seems to be what makes it pretty good as a preamp. Nice clean signal. I run my amp off the XLR outputs and the sub off the RCA output. The dac is great and the preamp is just a bonus. Very versatile piece. It definitely makes a good preamp until one can afford a preamp in the higher price category. Soundstage isn't as deep as other pre's I've used but it does everything else exceptionally well. Out of everything I own it's probably my favorite.
@@NosEL34hi friend! Excelent sound by the phone! Whats your opinion about the r200 ? I’m thinking in them for my first set up or the monitor audio silver 100 7g. i like very much the floorstands style but I need try first with a bookshelf for my living room
@@manuelsalcines5432 the R200 is good for the money in my opinion. Kinda similar to the R700 without the woofers. I've had the R200, I liked them. @@NosEL34thanks Franks! At the end I think that you and your room will decided if it is good or bad you must to put just your ears on. Same speaker could not sound same at different places. Thanks very much!
Yeah it seems to have more power than I need. 380watts x 2 at 4ohm I believe. These Polk's can get louder than my ears can handle..while keeping their clarity.
@@Marina4323 yeah I get what you are saying. If you look at the measurements I'd say they average about 6ohm. It varies quite a bit depending on frequency but dips down to 5ohm across the lower mid & upper frequency range..well over 10 ohms in the lower bass frequency's. I think Polk just rates them at 8ohm because they are fairly easy to drive. Ive pushed them with 35 watts and got decent volume. They can handle a lot though.

I am sorry, but I just hate to see speakers used as shelves and things on them.
My daughter's plushie's and holiday cards. At least they don't cause noise resonating on the enclosure. That I don't think I could tolerate.
