You are not alone and I hope you find solace in knowing that. Those thoughts can be so debilitating but sometimes you have to look them straight in the face and just say no you are false.Coming from someone who intellectualizes everything and believes that most of my thoughts that come into my head are correct; it has been helpful to do that. I think thats what I interpret as taking your thoughts captive, and making them obedient to christ by evaluating the thought and seeing if it alligns with the word of God. But i understand in some cases it is easier said than done because it can be more complex than that. because sometimes you can develop feelings or attachments to those thoughts However, we serve a God who cares about us and our entire being not just physical but our entire spirit and soul. Think about good things that he has said to you specifically and dwell in those words. And in the positive words your brother and sisters in Christ speak over you:) You are loved and you are valued. Your thoughts do not define who you are. Dear Heavenly Father I come to you in prayer for our dear friend. They are struggling with thoughts that are causing them grief. Lord I pray that you fill their mind with your beautiful voice and equip them to take those thoughts captive the next time they try to overcome their mind. If it is the evil one trying to throw flaming arrows at them can you please rebuke him and give the devil no power over your precious child. This is true, the battle gets easier because you get used to doing it. In a literal sense, train yourself to do Christ habits because you will get used to it. We are creatures of habit and habits can be changed.

I constantly have a battle with intrusive thoughts and it gets so hard everyday, so thank you for this. sometimes my thoughts even stop me from reading my Bible because they’re so strong telling me things that are not true. and they just won’t stop but I have to fight through. This is just a reminder that God is strong and I’m strong too.

I've been struggling all day into the next day with my own thoughts. I've been so consumed with not being enough or too much for the Lord. I've been whispering to myself "I trust you Jesus. I thank you Jesus for everything you're doing that I can't see. I thank you even for the pain." Still i become so consumed with emotion and negativity trying to weigh me down. I thank you so much. thank you bro. thank you so, so much. this just instantly calmed me down. i've been writing a letter to my favorite musician (Gerard Way) telling him how much his band his kinda helped me and allowed me to fully accept God (MCR helped me realise just how depressed i was drowning myself in the world and trying to distract myself from depression. i still love emo/goth stuff though, heck i occasionally wear eyeshadow and skeleton gloves lol. just not to the point where it glorifies evil). Gee does believe in God but i can tell has faith struggles and issues since he was raised Catholic, and hated religion for a while after having this deep fear of Hell put into his mind when he was a kid. observing his more recent stage plays, i don't even know if he wants God as more of a part of his life. lately i've been having the thought "he'll die in two weeks" which may be God trying to motivate me to finish and print off the letter and send it to him (i don't really think he will die, because i plan to evangelize a bit at the 2025 tour if it happens and i think God has a bit of a plan for me there), but i keep having all these doubts holding me back. is that even God's voice? every time it comes into my brain i'm strangely calmed but it causes me worry later. i also feel like writing and sending in a gospel letter is too big a step right now. i'm just really having a hard time with this, i feel like there are all these truths i need to tell him and it's stressing me out. God's helping me calm down though but i'm still very unsure about a ton of things.
Well, for one your heart is of gold, my friend! I see that your heart is very caring, and at the end of the day, you want to do your best to spread the gospel to all those around you, including Gee! And this heart is sought after by Christians who have been faithful for generations, and yet the LORD has blessed you with this softened heart to proclaim His name...that is something that you should thank God for, because it truly is a blessing! Philippians 4:6 tells us not to be anxious about anything, but to bring everything to prayer, with thanking God as well. More than anything, I encourage you to pray my friend! Pray for your friends, pray for Gee, and pray for all those around you to acknowledge the presence of God. I love the idea of the letter, and it's really cool! But more than anything, pray! And I promise, the hand of God will show you that in all things, we continue to give Him the glory, and if we focus on loving Him with all our hearts, than He will continue to do the rest! Holy Spirit placed you on my feed. Needed to hear this for myself and a friend at work who openly admits to being an atheist and also deals with intrusive thoughts. I didn’t know what to say. My problem is not wanting to offend by standing on truth and then feeling like a failure/unworthy after the fact.
As Jesus said to the ones who believed in Him, “if you abide in my word…you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Standing on the truth is the only thing that makes sense for a stable life. He is our foundation, and it might be scary having to share in public the love of Christ, but know this there is no longer any condemnation for those who are in Jesus, and the love that He shows you will cover any lie of you being a failure, in the name of Jesus, AMEN!

What are your thoughts on places and people who trigger these intrusive thoughts? Do you think it’s okay, instead of fighting these thoughts, to remove yourself from those places or people? I ask because when I’m around certain people who have caused me trauma, I get attacked really badly by these intrusive thoughts. It leads me to become confused, super fearful, and anxious. I’ve been diagnosed with OCD, and it makes fighting these thoughts so much harder. I’ve been hanging by a thread these days, and my faith in God is what keeps me here. God has helped me through these thoughts before, but do you think it’s selfish that I removed myself from places and people who trigger me? I felt immense peace after ending a friendship that caused me a lot of harm in the past. I love the person very dearly, but I felt a lack of peace and would be swarmed with an attack of intrusive thoughts. This friend used to be very verbally and psychologically abusive. I’m afraid I made the wrong decision and that I’m selfish for it, but I do feel peace, and my head feels very clear to the point that I can get through my daily activities. Since these thoughts can become debilitating, I’m wondering if I made the right choice. I thank God for you being faithful and being a inspiration to grow my relationship with him. Your channel is helping me find peace in the midst of many things going on in my head and life. I will try to discipline myself to read my Bible because it is true, as you said, that you have to fill your mind with God’s Word, and the intrusive thoughts will leave. It’s happened before, but recently I’ve been leading a life where I think thoughts like, “What is the point of reading my Bible if I’m just going to continue to sin or fail?” I struggle a lot connecting with community and churches because, honestly, of these false thoughts. So I kind of just depend on sermons online, like yours. Sorry for dumping this in your comment section. Truly, the LORD sees your heart friend, and He rejoices knowing that you simply want to please Him. So before anything, make sure to take time to thank God that He loves you through everything you are going through :) Firstly, you are absolutely a trooper for continuing to walk through life, despite this amount of anxiety and frustration and hurt. Jesus never promised us that we wouldn't suffer, but that we would be free from all doubt if we seek Christ! In this respect, separation from those who have caused you this pain and trauma isn't wrong, and if you are truly in a better environment without them, then this can be a healthy way for the LORD to give you a space to truly focus on Him. Now, where it becomes wrong is if we remove ourselves, and lack forgiveness. Jesus calls for us to love our enemies, and pray for those who have mistreated you. (Matthew 5:44). If you leave the people and places that trigger you out of anger, or frustration, or out of unforgiveness and hate, then we aren't truly showing the love of Christ. Yet, if we are leaving these positions with forgiveness, with joy, with the prayers that you wish them the best, and that you have no other ill feeling toward them, then truthfully I tell you the LORD is pleased with your decision. Love isn't a transactional item, and neither is it in terms of proximity. The love that Christ showed us is that He loves you, even if you don't even know Him yet. Truly, this should be out heart when we think of these people. Now, I truly encourage you, continue to follow Christ. Continue to love His Word, and continue to find Him. Seek and ye shall find, He has promised. (Matthew 7:7) So Father, I truly thank you for my sister God. I thank you LORD that you are continuing to move in her life abundently and that you are teaching her so many things that she has been using to better your kingdom Father. Jesus, I just pray that your blood covers Diana's mind LORD, that she will no longer believe the lies of the enemy, but she shall turn to you in adoration of all that you have done. One of my favorite verses my dad used to tell me was this: “I have the right to do anything,” you say-but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”-but not everything is constructive. -1 Corinthians 10:23 The things you and I think may not always be beneficial or constructive. In fact, it can be so distant from what God wants from us, and it can be so evil in respects to how good our God is. Be transformed, by the renewal of your mind, and allow the word of God to be your foundation of every thought in your mind. Instrusive thoughts can sometimes come from soul fragmentation or trauma too.. Holy Spirit can heal all things :) pray and ask him where the open doors are

Hi Tanner! I think you made a great point my friend! I think that Christians should do their best to refrain from "unwholesome talk", as God tells us in Ephesians. Part of that could be cussing, and even cussing at people. Often times, our minds will plant words in our minds that are not of God, and that can even include cuss words. These things happen, but when they do, we tell the enemy that He has no power, and that these words are not what our Father would've said, and in this my friend, you are totally correct! So God, I thank you for Tanner's life LORD. I thank you God that you are continuing to teach him and love him every single day. You are not alone and I hope you find solace in knowing that. Those thoughts can be so debilitating but sometimes you have to look them straight in the face and just say no you are false.Coming from someone who intellectualizes everything and believes that most of my thoughts that come into my head are correct; it has been helpful to do that. I think thats what I interpret as taking your thoughts captive, and making them obedient to christ by evaluating the thought and seeing if it alligns with the word of God. But i understand in some cases it is easier said than done because it can be more complex than that. because sometimes you can develop feelings or attachments to those thoughts However, we serve a God who cares about us and our entire being not just physical but our entire spirit and soul. Think about good things that he has said to you specifically and dwell in those words. And in the positive words your brother and sisters in Christ speak over you:) You are loved and you are valued. Dear Heavenly Father I come to you in prayer for our dear friend. They are struggling with thoughts that are causing them grief. Lord I pray that you fill their mind with your beautiful voice and equip them to take those thoughts captive the next time they try to overcome their mind. If it is the evil one trying to throw flaming arrows at them can you please rebuke him and give the devil no power over your precious child. Father God, I thank you for my friend God. I thank you that their heart is pure God, and that they desire freedom from these thoughts of anxiety and lies God. I thank you God, that you state that where the spirit of the LORD is, their is freedom, and that their is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. I thank you God, that the truth sets us free, and that the truth isn't something we discover, yet it is something that is freely given to us, and that we accept God. I thank you God, that today, my friend and I are accepting the truth of knowing that you have already forgiven us for everything, and that you have sacrificed your life to do this.
I thank you Jesus, for this truth, and I thank you that we get to live in the freedom of not needing to control anything, but allowing you to move through us. That the voices may never get quieter, but we now know the one to listen to, and that is the truth of our gospel, Father!

How do you "talk" to god?
I constantly have a battle with intrusive thoughts and it gets so hard everyday, so thank you for this. sometimes my thoughts even stop me from reading my Bible because they’re so strong telling me things that are not true. and they just won’t stop but I have to fight through. This is just a reminder that God is strong and I’m strong too.
Father God, I pray that your power rest perfectly on my brother Damian Lord. I thank you God, for his life, that you have made Him this way for a reason, that life itself is worthless without the love of your son, Jesus Christ. So GOD, continue to show Him love in ways we can't even think of, let let him be reminded of your grace for him and his mind. I've been struggling all day into the next day with my own thoughts. I've been so consumed with not being enough or too much for the Lord. I've been whispering to myself "I trust you Jesus. I thank you Jesus for everything you're doing that I can't see. I thank you even for the pain." Still i become so consumed with emotion and negativity trying to weigh me down. I thank you so much. This message was the first thing i saw opening up my RUclips. I wanted to feel freer and understood and God gave that to me through you. I thank you for helping me to feel and know God better.

i've been writing a letter to my favorite musician (Gerard Way) telling him how much his band his kinda helped me and allowed me to fully accept God (MCR helped me realise just how depressed i was drowning myself in the world and trying to distract myself from depression. i still love emo/goth stuff though, heck i occasionally wear eyeshadow and skeleton gloves lol. just not to the point where it glorifies evil). Gee does believe in God but i can tell has faith struggles and issues since he was raised Catholic, and hated religion for a while after having this deep fear of Hell put into his mind when he was a kid. observing his more recent stage plays, i don't even know if he wants God as more of a part of his life.
lately i've been having the thought "he'll die in two weeks" which may be God trying to motivate me to finish and print off the letter and send it to him (i don't really think he will die, because i plan to evangelize a bit at the 2025 tour if it happens and i think God has a bit of a plan for me there), but i keep having all these doubts holding me back. is that even God's voice? every time it comes into my brain i'm strangely calmed but it causes me worry later. i also feel like writing and sending in a gospel letter is too big a step right now. i'm just really having a hard time with this, i feel like there are all these truths i need to tell him and it's stressing me out. God's helping me calm down though but i'm still very unsure about a ton of things.
Well, for one your heart is of gold, my friend! I see that your heart is very caring, and at the end of the day, you want to do your best to spread the gospel to all those around you, including Gee! And this heart is sought after by Christians who have been faithful for generations, and yet the LORD has blessed you with this softened heart to proclaim His name...that is something that you should thank God for, because it truly is a blessing!
Philippians 4:6 tells us not to be anxious about anything, but to bring everything to prayer, with thanking God as well. More than anything, I encourage you to pray my friend! Pray for your friends, pray for Gee, and pray for all those around you to acknowledge the presence of God.
I love the idea of the letter, and it's really cool! But more than anything, pray! And I promise, the hand of God will show you that in all things, we continue to give Him the glory, and if we focus on loving Him with all our hearts, than He will continue to do the rest!

Holy Spirit placed you on my feed. Needed to hear this for myself and a friend at work who openly admits to being an atheist and also deals with intrusive thoughts. I didn’t know what to say. My problem is not wanting to offend by standing on truth and then feeling like a failure/unworthy after the fact.
As Jesus said to the ones who believed in Him, “if you abide in my word…you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Standing on the truth is the only thing that makes sense for a stable life. He is our foundation, and it might be scary having to share in public the love of Christ, but know this there is no longer any condemnation for those who are in Jesus, and the love that He shows you will cover any lie of you being a failure, in the name of Jesus, AMEN!

What are your thoughts on places and people who trigger these intrusive thoughts? Do you think it’s okay, instead of fighting these thoughts, to remove yourself from those places or people? I ask because when I’m around certain people who have caused me trauma, I get attacked really badly by these intrusive thoughts. It leads me to become confused, super fearful, and anxious. I’ve been diagnosed with OCD, and it makes fighting these thoughts so much harder. I’ve been hanging by a thread these days, and my faith in God is what keeps me here. God has helped me through these thoughts before, but do you think it’s selfish that I removed myself from places and people who trigger me? I felt immense peace after ending a friendship that caused me a lot of harm in the past. I love the person very dearly, but I felt a lack of peace and would be swarmed with an attack of intrusive thoughts. This friend used to be very verbally and psychologically abusive. I’m afraid I made the wrong decision and that I’m selfish for it, but I do feel peace, and my head feels very clear to the point that I can get through my daily activities. Since these thoughts can become debilitating, I’m wondering if I made the right choice. I thank God for you being faithful and being a inspiration to grow my relationship with him. Your channel is helping me find peace in the midst of many things going on in my head and life. I will try to discipline myself to read my Bible because it is true, as you said, that you have to fill your mind with God’s Word, and the intrusive thoughts will leave. It’s happened before, but recently I’ve been leading a life where I think thoughts like, “What is the point of reading my Bible if I’m just going to continue to sin or fail?” I struggle a lot connecting with community and churches because, honestly, of these false thoughts. So I kind of just depend on sermons online, like yours. Sorry for dumping this in your comment section. I’ve been going to therapy for support, but it’s hard to get spiritual advice from my therapist-I don’t think she believes in God.

Truly, the LORD sees your heart friend, and He rejoices knowing that you simply want to please Him. So before anything, make sure to take time to thank God that He loves you through everything you are going through :)
Firstly, you are absolutely a trooper for continuing to walk through life, despite this amount of anxiety and frustration and hurt. Jesus never promised us that we wouldn't suffer, but that we would be free from all doubt if we seek Christ!
In this respect, separation from those who have caused you this pain and trauma isn't wrong, and if you are truly in a better environment without them, then this can be a healthy way for the LORD to give you a space to truly focus on Him.
Now, where it becomes wrong is if we remove ourselves, and lack forgiveness. Jesus calls for us to love our enemies, and pray for those who have mistreated you. (Matthew 5:44). If you leave the people and places that trigger you out of anger, or frustration, or out of unforgiveness and hate, then we aren't truly showing the love of Christ. Yet, if we are leaving these positions with forgiveness, with joy, with the prayers that you wish them the best, and that you have no other ill feeling toward them, then truthfully I tell you the LORD is pleased with your decision.
Love isn't a transactional item, and neither is it in terms of proximity. The love that Christ showed us is that He loves you, even if you don't even know Him yet. Truly, this should be out heart when we think of these people.
Now, I truly encourage you, continue to follow Christ. Continue to love His Word, and continue to find Him. Seek and ye shall find, He has promised. (Matthew 7:7)
So Father, I truly thank you for my sister God. I thank you LORD that you are continuing to move in her life abundently and that you are teaching her so many things that she has been using to better your kingdom Father. Jesus, I just pray that your blood covers Diana's mind LORD, that she will no longer believe the lies of the enemy, but she shall turn to you in adoration of all that you have done. I thank you God, that you are creating a community for her here, and in her home town God. Jesus, I pray for boldness God, that she goes and finds it LORD. Trust me, I have dealt with the same thoughts, and I know that my decision to not choose them often comes from a place where the love of Christ has been just to great for me to choose darkness. One of my favorite verses my dad used to tell me was this:
“I have the right to do anything,” you say-but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”-but not everything is constructive. -1 Corinthians 10:23
The things you and I think may not always be beneficial or constructive. In fact, it can be so distant from what God wants from us, and it can be so evil in respects to how good our God is.
Be transformed, by the renewal of your mind, and allow the word of God to be your foundation of every thought in your mind.

Instrusive thoughts can sometimes come from soul fragmentation or trauma too.. Holy Spirit can heal all things :) pray and ask him where the open doors are
And yet, the open doors are right where He is! Trauma is a very real thing, and the LORD shall heal us with oil and bandage if we allow Him to! Allow God to continue to heal you in this time! . He loves you so much!

Hi Tanner! I think you made a great point my friend! I think that Christians should do their best to refrain from "unwholesome talk", as God tells us in Ephesians. Part of that could be cussing, and even cussing at people. Often times, our minds will plant words in our minds that are not of God, and that can even include cuss words. These things happen, but when they do, we tell the enemy that He has no power, and that these words are not what our Father would've said, and in this my friend, you are totally correct!
So God, I thank you for Tanner's life LORD. I thank you God that you are continuing to teach him and love him every single day. I pray LORD, that he continues to search for you in his word, and even through prayer, as he learns how to be wiser every single day.
