Lmfao that joke was golden!! That crowd definitely didn't appreciate that joke😮! MEANWHILE IN KGB TRAINING... "I TELL YOU JOKE" "IF YOU LAUGH AT THIS JOKE YOU DIE!"
Frame 21:25 showed what appeared to be a briefing of SAC bomber crews at Hunter AFB, in Savannah, Ga., during the missile crisis. The reason I know this is the dark haired man, seated without a flight jacket on, in the front row who looks at his watch, was my father. I just happened to watch this show tonight and happened to look up at the right moment. I replayed it 3--4 times to conform. He was a B-47 Navigtor.
As an American, I can’t condemn Krushev for deploying weapons to Cuba because we had them in Turkey. It’s funny how history makes it seem like the Soviets and not the Americans were the aggressor. I love my country but understand why the Soviets did what they did
Yeah, talk to us who were unfortunate to be born under the Soviet Union. The reason you think the way you think because you had the freedom and now you’re spoiled and you think that the Soviet Union had the right to exist ,in reality it’s not a nation it was a huge Gulag a prison.
Yes, in the red army it is a low rank, comparable to a 2nd lieutenant in western armies. There are a lot of them, and they have less experience and training than western Captains.
@@Meton12765 There being a lot of them doesn't automatically make it a ''low rank''. You could claim it's not noteworthy or mid tier, but it's not a ''low rank''.
Thankfully in the 60’s, the US had 2 Presidents who thought calmly and did NOT want ANY nuclear war. In the Cuban Missile Crisis, the head of the Military, War Hawk, Curtis LeMay encouraged Kennedy to Nuke Cuba and maybe the Soviets. Luckily Kennedy wasn’t about to do that. Just a few years later, LeMay told Johnson to Nuke North Vietnam! That time LeMay was dismissed-Thank God! I was 13 and living near a Missile base during the Cuban Crisis. We were sure the Russians were going to bomb the base any day. We were all terrified as no 13 year olds ever should be.
That’s LeMay’s job though. You want generals who will do anything to win wars. It’s the presidents job to moderate that and consider political realities. Don’t confuse soldiers and political activists.
@@gregpaul882 You have a point of course-that’s why the US doesn’t have a lot of Presidents who were career military. But LeMays answer to everything was NUKE EM! That’s what started the firing of Mac Arthur by Truman. Mac wanted to bomb North Korea and maybe China n Truman said NO! THEN Mac started badmouthing Truman publicly so he gave Truman no choice.
Because he was a GRU officer and this documentary pertains to the KGB. GRU being independent of the other soviet intelligence beaurocracies. And GRU (1917 - 1992), military intelligence geared towards foreign threats, did not involve itself in internal security of the Soviet bloc.
Those 5 did this simply to put a balance of power in the world. Usa already used the atomic bomb on Japan twice… this was done to make sure nobody can use the atomic bomb in the future….
I support any country around in protecting itself from outside influences in its governance any citizen who sells his country should be dealt with harshly
You must be one of those Stalin fans then.Well, good for you.Russia and China are always trying to meddle with the USA and it`s politics so you must think that we should be "protecting" ourselves from outside influence?I doubt it.Ideas from other civilized people from all over the world that help mankind should be listened to at least.

one of the most sophisticated documentary series of all time ! thank you for this masterpiece
This is an INSANELY GOOD and UNDERRATED documentary about the KGB 🤯
Awesome video, 11/10 ❤
C&CF Thank you for the content 👌💯👍💞
Pretty good joke at the start... I really laughed out loud.
Which part of the ''start'' are you talking about?
The security network being stronger than ever?
This is a very good documentary, thank you Sir! Greetings from the former communist republic of Slovenia.
What do you mean former? We had no lustration.

Sure.........
''weapons''
The Soviet Union was built on aggression, they attacked and annexed several countries. Throughout its entire existence it followed this policy.
Okay comrade

So in your country the rank of Lt.Col is lowly?
That's a good point. It's not exactly a low rank, quite the opposite. It means your experience is vast at the very least.

"Move the chair!" 😂
Very informative. The KGB did what they thought was right. In regards to Chernobyl it's sad their warnings weren't listened to.
SS did what they thought was right as well
total BS, the KGB did what served them and them alone. The expansion of their power and mechanisms of fear
The KGB was a organisation of criminal murders
Ultimately the KGB decided to do nothing. It is hard to see this as heroic.
a video on cia is must after this series

True. And eventually they took over the country, destroyed the party and put their main in position of President.
