Those were the days when win was not the case but the 90 minutes action....those who saw thiese guys i mention would understand.
I love & respect Doctor Khumalo, he is a legend. But let's be honest guys; he didn't really take on Liverpool. Not much dribbling past the opponents & no defense-splitting passes. We know how skilled this legend was, but he didn't hurt Liverpool here.
16V was good, but the media also played part to sell us the "all time greatest in him", of which I believe players like Shoes were exceptionally the best
@Tshepo Moeti And Shoes was good, but he never was better than doctor. We all watched doctor from 1986 when he came on the 1st division of kaiser chiefs. So you can't imply that we were influenced by the media . we had eyes we saw what we saw. And that was the greatness of doctor Khumalo. He had a unique combination of the brain and feet that controlled the ball in an amazing way. And not so much senseless running like others did.
he played only three passes foward and one cross to the box and gets an highlights videos. Yet we were angry when we did'nt qualify for the world cup. We still believe we are the most talented nation in the world. I no longer believe that. We Are Not the Most talented nation in the world.
A legend himself, great game this was and you can see the different between then and now 😂😂. But then what i noticed here every time Dr Khumalo is on the ball he passes the ball backwards or sideways of which it working for the then coaches.
I didn't want to seem as a hater, but almost every pass went backwards.. Delayed the tempo of the game.. No shot on traget. I don't know if the players didn't play well on the day or the highlight selection was poor..

Back passes are part of the game. What makes them special here is that possession of the ball was no lost in the process and that the intent was to draw Liverpool out of their defence zone so as to create space for the pacey Fani Madida. But Liverpool didn't fall for that trick - it's more of good defending by Liverpool than poor display by Chiefs.
It's not about forward passes but to play that entertaining football 🤣 what I loved about Doctor Khumalo's he was controlling the game from the beginning till the end, movement of the ball all the ground for his teammates

It was John Shoes that dominated Liverpool even the commentary they said Shoes was sending invitations only to Chiefs players.
