    She was a great woman! maybe she sang 100 times that year but she came back to Barcelona every new year to be with her family and her all time public.
    I love her.

    What a splendid voice. She could sing anything. This, Norma, and Gemma Di Vergy, are probably the three hardest roles ever and she mastered all three. Had she sung Anna Bolena in 1972 she would’ve been amazing in that too. She added Anna Bolena ten years too late.

    Such a gorgeous voice, sweet and caressing, but yet exciting with thrilling chest tones and squillo on the top notes.

    She said Il Pirata was the most difficult Ópera she ever sung.

      I think it’s even harder than Norma. It seems like the young Bellini in Il Pirata was trying to stretch the soprano and tenors voices to the extreme. I’ve heard from other sources (Callas and Javier Camarena) that the breath control coupled with the extreme range required for Gualtiero and Imogene is what makes this opera so taxing.

      I think Caballe said the most difficult was Gemma di Vergy, from Donizetti. In fact, she said that singing one Gemma was equivalent to singing 4 Normas

    Certes ce que fait Caballé est superbe mais.. oui mais pourquoi ce tempi rapide a mon goût trop puis les fioritures trop nombreuses, non vraiment les qualitées de Montserrat ne peuvent impregner cette aria si bel cantiste. Je suis déçu et n'aurai préféré pas l'écouter.
