It's a bit like a chicken and egg situation - if a head overheats and warps too much the stretch bolts are compromised and loses clamping power - but not may are aware that you need an angle gauge to do the bolts
You’ll never regret going brushless, we use Dewalt at work, and they are good. The 1/2” impact throws batteries off, which is about the only downside (I don’t pay for the replacements). Tried to secure them with o rings, wedges and what not, but none of them last. Personally I use Makita, just as good, but I find the batteries stay on the impact guns better.
My smaller Dewalt 1/4 drive impact has been very good and reliable - batteries are good for 3 years then they are a waste of time as they do not hold much charge, so when I get a replacement I will go brushless - one thing I heard was brushless do not like wet or damp conditions
Britannica Restorations Ltd I work in a humid or flooded old train depot, I’ve had no problems with the brushless in those conditions. I’ve repaired water tanks and had the Dewalt drill to hand, it got wet (not submerged), and it still works just as good. Maybe not for working in heavy rain outside, and if your your that desperate to work in those conditions, ain’t much going to survive that. The lithium batteries are top notch as well in the new stuff, no memory problems at all.

They only do that gun in 1/2 in the UK as the 18v range (same thing just and 18v when comes off the charger peaks at 20v so sounds better, like a 12v car battery is at 14.4v after charge). I picked up the 18v 1/4 hex drive here and swapped the anvil for the 3/8s the hog ring is a pain. The advantage of what i did meant ot was half the price and the gun has 3 settings so you can do small stuff without fear of shearing.

I've been putting off buying decent battery-tools for years cos I want to buy into a brand that'll give me battery compatibility between different tools that I buy in future. From what I can see, Milwaukee are about the only brand that makes a point of this. Surprised that other manufacturers, such as DeWalt, don't make a bigger deal out of telling people which tools have batteries that are compatible with other tools. You'd think you'd just be able to look at, say, a drill on their website and there'd be a link to all the other tools that use the same battery. If I was the owner of that Tdi I think I'd be relieved to see this video. There's nothing worse than an untraceable fault and at least it seems like there IS a cause for these problems, even if it means redoing work that's already been done once. Also, if the gasket's failed AND the head is warped, at least it's (hopefully) likely that the head isn't actually cracked as well. You'll have that back together, running like a sewing machine, in a week. ;-)
