It was really hitting me that I was going to live in a different state than my family and since I didn’t have WiFi yet this was one of the only movies I had on my laptop.

Sometimes I just don't want to grow up. I feel like I'm not ready yet. When I entered my first year of university I was overwhelmed. I was in a new town, new place, new people to meet. And all on my own. University was a lot different than high school and way out of my comfort zone. When I came home on the first day of school I decided to watch Kiki's Delivery Service again. And it helped me, so so much, having a character I could relate to in those hard times. I saw my future a little more brightly thanks to this movie. ❤️

I had just recently watched Kiki's Delivery Service for the first time. I've noticed I keep coming back to listen to this particular song. Something about the music in that song, and the place I'm at in life right now makes me feel emotions I can't quite explain. I guess I just want peace. Something about this song brings me a strong sort of melancholy.
I’ve listened to this soundtrack for a little over 20 years off and on without actually seeing the film, and the effect of this specific song was equally profound for me as what you describe. So when I did finally see it for the first time, there were many tears…
I was able to reflect and relate to this film, Kiki's delivery service. Well, it is a story of growth from her own shell to the outside world. This film showed that at some point, we may feel anxious and lose our faith in life. This is why we need friends/family to stay with us because we cant do it ourselves. We need others to grow up. However, we cannot just seclude ourselves with just our other self (Jiji). Just like in the film, at the end, Jiji still did not speak. It is vecause it shows that Kiki finally grew up and started exploring the world on its own instead of focusing on her other self. Now, let us be brave just like Kiki to face the tomorrow of our lives.
I wonder if Kiki never lost the ability to talk to Jiji, but Jiji himself grew out of needing to talk to a human after finding a partner and moving on to a new phase of life. The instant he meets the female cat, Jiji stops talking in human language and becomes aloof around Kiki. If she just lost the ability to hear cat, Jiji would still maintain the same physical closeness with her as earlier in the film. That distance represents the separation in their relationship. This happens when a friend gets married and has children all the time, their marriage can spell the end of the friendship, even a long lasting one.
I loved this song instantly when I first heard it in the movie. Now that I know it is about manifesting and universal love I can only appreciate it even more.
I’ll never forget when I first saw this movie. I was 19 years old going to college all alone with no one that I knew. I felt so alone, depressed and homesick. Hearing this song now (currently 27) getting my bachelors degree, I decided to listen to this song again to remind myself of how far I’ve come to be where I am at now and I’m so proud of the woman I’ve become. This movie will forever have a special place in my heart. 🤍
Hearing this just makes me cry of happiness, crying because of the happy memories I have attached to the film, it reminds me of my simple days as a child, how I’ve grown up so fast and it’s frightening really, one day I’ll be listening to this as an old man. This and other Ghibli films are my comfort movies, but this one really has a special place on my heart.

Just discovered this masterpiece after watching Kiki for the first time… can’t accept my grown ass man dropping tears on this✨✨🤌🏾 who’s peeling onions ?😭
Yumi Matsutoya (Arai), who wrote this song in 1970's, very rarely appeared on a Japanese TV program yesterday . She told why it was played in a GHIBLI's movie. She was asked to write new songs for "Kiki's Delivery Service″ by Miyazaki, received the scenario. But she couldn't understand what she was asked to do. Then he asked her if he could use this finished song in it, she agreed. "Rouge no Dengon(Lipstick Message)″,"Hikouki‐gumo(Vapor Trail)″ are also written in her teen-age to about 20 yo.
Sometimes your gonna forget what made you, you in the first place and that’s ok, cause you will find it again, it’s just a matter of spirit and belief in yourself. I've had it myself, it shows up when you connect with others and shows up when you regain that belief in yourself.
I 1st hear this song from Tamayura OVA, and I fall in love with it, Maaya Sakamoto voiced was super awesome, found out many years later that is originally from Kiki's Delivery service.
I'm sorry i say this is in English, but... We all cried 🥹 This anime for me was always about life! Town where story happens is like Stockholm in 1944, but WWII hever happened... This world of better people, all just live their lives. No _"Great"_ ideas, no big shocks of society, no atomic panic... World just live, scientists makes new discoveries, railroads build. This is world of "good morning", because you don't think about horrible things, all is going well, life for all become better. You called your friends to go to museum and park. You enjoy your life and everyone else!
I was surprised because the Japanese lyrics were correctly translated into English. Different languages make it difficult to express subtle nuances, but this translation successfully overcomes that difficulty.
🙏Thank you so much for posting this with translations! I really love this song! Feeling down...listen to this. It'll cure your blues... everytime! 🎀 ありがとうございました。 ❤&✌

i hope this song didn't get thrown down like others OST Kiki Delivery service's cause of the copyright
:D
Yumi Arai is a really good artist!
I love this song, it's my favorite one from the movie, its soooo beautiful and warm but at the same time it gives me some nostalgia. So beautiful
Cada vez que la escucho lloro 🥺😭♥️
No puedo es demasiado hermosa y me hace acordar a la peli donde sea que esté 🌸
My parents used to sing this to me back when I was a toddler in Japan. I miss the late 2000s

This song always brings joy and confort for me theres no words to even explain
Just noticed that Ai Kago just covered this earlier in the week! Excellent!
I introduced this video and music to the West over 10 years ago on RUclips in an English translation entitled "If I am surrounded in gentleness of nature". Unfortunately, that video has been taken down, but thanks for introducing it in a new translation.
I'm sorry to hear that. I've had my own fair share of videos blocked and taken down. ):
If you want, you can post your translation in the comments and I'll make a pin! I am open to other translations and interpretations!
Thank you so much for the upload!
this song always makes me cry because i loved this movie and all ghibli movies when i was a kid and the nostalgia kinda breaks my heart ngl
I used to play this song everyday in my daily commute by bicycle to university in Tokyo when I crossed a 1 km bridge. I felt just like Kiki, alone in a new city, but with hope that the future would be ok.
Just discovered this masterpiece after watching Kiki for the first time… can’t accept my grown ass man dropping tears on this✨✨🤌🏾 who’s peeling onions ?😭
What a great movie! One of my favourites now🤧
I Love this song, back in 2003, I listened to this song religiously!
Listening to this on the last day of summer hits different..
I love the bassline in this song
The bass line is played by Haruomi Hosono. Hosono is a multi-genre musician and a member of YMO and Happy End.
Sometimes your gonna forget what made you, you in the first place and that’s ok, cause you will find it again, it’s just a matter of spirit and belief in yourself.
I've had it myself, it shows up when you connect with others and shows up when you regain that belief in yourself.
Qual é o nome desta música?
Man I just watched Grave of the Fireflies... now I gotta watch Kiki to cheer up
Good idea
I can feel all the joy of life with this song and so much hope
I 1st hear this song from Tamayura OVA, and I fall in love with it, Maaya Sakamoto voiced was super awesome, found out many years later that is originally from Kiki's Delivery service.
Love this!
I'm sorry i say this is in English, but...
We all cried 🥹
This anime for me was always about life!
LOVE THIS!
I was surprised because the Japanese lyrics were correctly translated into English. Different languages make it difficult to express subtle nuances, but this translation successfully overcomes that difficulty.
原曲探してましたー!
