    Imagine how powerful that shrimp must be to move that fast in those insane pressures.

    • @LoneFifteen
      @LoneFifteen 3 года назад +5

      Not necessarily. Humans can compress to some pretty insane pressures and the footage doesn't indicate their actions are causing them any more effort than normal. Once you've equalized to a pressure, there doesn't really seem to be a noticeable difference. Considering creatures like prawns are equalized from conception to death (unless of course they're caught) I doubt there's much of a difference from its shallower-watered relatives.

    • @TheColt5495
      @TheColt5495 3 года назад +15

      Fluid mechanics is next semester for me, so forgive me if I'm wrong, but if pressure if evenly distributed, wouldn't the force required to move an object be the same at any depth?
      Edit: Asked an engineer. Pressure doesn't affect difficulty of movement, density does, but water is, of course, nearly incompressible.

    • @ExperimentalDude
      @ExperimentalDude 3 года назад +3

      If you’re suffering from an extreme pressure from only 1 side or in 1 spot, then yes, to counter that extreme pressure you need extreme strength BUT if you have extreme pressure in literally every side of you and every single spot and you have adapted to survive that pressure then no, the shrimp is making the same strength as it’s regular shrimp cousins

    • @leewe2015
      @leewe2015 3 года назад +2

      their body is built so that it the inside matches the outside pressure, that means the deep sea shrimp functions the same way a pond shrimp would

    • @FjordTrotter

      Your statement should be : imagine how powerful its skeleton must be to resist such insane pressures.
