    I am doing my thesis on Schopenhauer... using his system of thought to help answer what science happens. From every scholarly article I read, from every video I've skimmed, this is the most accurate. Well done.

    I would argue that the “will to life” is in actuality a “will to multiplicity,” and that suffering is the friction caused by the inevitable return to unity. Therefore existence is a cycle of vain attempts of aspects of the will striving for individuality, and being dragged back into the generalized unity.
    The biggest questions left from this are what is the impetus for this constant striving for multiplicity, and can any aspect ever achieve it? And if they can, what would then happen?

    Oneness within oneself brings oneness with das whole universe.
    I am a spark of das infinite that is functioning through my body+mind-complex.
    How do I know that I am one with das universe ?

    One question about transcendental idealism: I am able to accept that the concepts of space, time, causality make human experience and understanding possible. However, how can you further justify that those concepts are merely features of the mind and not part of the things-in-themselves (or thing-in-itself for Schopenhauer)? In other words, is it possible that space, time, causality are features of BOTH the thing-in-themselves and human minds?

    • @WeltgeistYT
      @WeltgeistYT  4 года назад

      Space, time and causality might very well be features of the thing-in-itself. But we would never know -- the grand conclusion of transcendental idealism is that the noumenal world (the thing-in-itself) is *unknowable*. We know it exists, and that's it. Other than that, we cannot say anything about it with certainty. (At least, in the view of Kant. Several post- and neo-Kantians, and Schopenhauer of course, will disagree.)

    • @MathwithMing
      @MathwithMing 4 года назад

      @@WeltgeistYT Thank you very much for your reply. I think, in order to support Schopenhauer's system, it is important to stress that space, time, and causality are not part of the thing-in-itself, as without such statement we are unable to declare that the thing-in-itself is timeless, boundless and purposeless (since it would make no sense to talk about the 'location' of the thing-in-itself if space is only a mental condition). But it seems like such a supporting statement must be treated as an 'axiom' (rather than being proved, as deductive methods do not apply to the thing-in-itself).

    Ah yes. One of my (pardon plz) of my favorite self-realizations is this phrase, The “measure” of a man is profoundly realized to be just as the word itself indicates; “Me as U Re” - phonetically:
    Me as you are. That is the only measure one might realize to become objective in his pursuit of absence of differentiation. 😊

    I wonder it the measurements made by our tools constitutes 'objective knowledge'? Or are they just markers in a construction?

    • @uknowwhatimean5000
      @uknowwhatimean5000 3 года назад

      pretty much like mathematics. If you think of the Pi (π) you cant visualize it as an object because pi is a symbol (representation) of something infinite which means it has no time and space.

    Hmmmmmmm emotions can NOT be described with space but can be described with time (ex: before or after each other). In fact this is valid for all abtract thought. Then thought is partially representation & will. ?Could someone comment on this?
    Oh another question; ?is Freud's id & Schopenhauer's will nearly the same concept?

  • @user-or7ji5hv8y
    @user-or7ji5hv8y 3 года назад +1

    But if will comes from feeling, is it not also based upon are sensory preceptors? How is that different from representation?

  • @fizw
    @fizw 2 года назад

    representation is artificially constructed formed by consciousness like space time and our own body.
    representation cause sufferings and pain in multiplicity as individual subject
    the will is eternal nothingness or unconscious. we cannot experience the will because it's spaceless and timeless.
    if we aware the will is one or unity

    I disagree that true objectively cannot be attained and even that were true I would say true objectivity in some cases is overrated. Subjectivity is fine as long as it's correct. I do believe some opinions are correct and some are not. one of the most toxic belief systems is that there is no right or wrong opinion or belief. Believing there is no right or wrong stance to have allows stupidity to proliferate and cause problems. Unfortunately due to "trolls" and herd mentality and stubbornly stupid people it is not a simple problem of educating the people who hold on to their wrong view points and as long as there exists this belief that ppl should be left alone to have their wrong opinion (that they spread like infections) there will be war between the right vs the wrong. Constantly. infinitum. One example of a wrong opinion is that pollution to Earth doesn't matter.
