    Hey Troy, if you watch the video of this songwhere Jonathan is explaining the meaning behind it, you can briefly see that the intro is actually played by two guitarists. I thought it was only one for a while but if you look carefully I believe Jonathan Lee is vamping on the C# note while Michael pope hits the accented sus4. I definitely struggled with figuring out exactly how to play it and have my delay set for a while, but you killed it in this video great job man!

      Matt Jones Yeah, there’s definitely two parts. Rehearsal Mix confirms that. But trying to blend them together was more difficult than usual. Usually, I can pick the best of both and make one part. Had to just stick with E1 on this one. Thanks for the compliment!

    Great Troy. Yes, those down strokes are tiring. Up and down strokes work fine in this song and I believe that’s how Bethel do it.

    • @GuitarforHISGlory
      @GuitarforHISGlory  5 лет назад +3

      Steve, it’s all about the tone for me. Pain and difficulty aside, if I can effectively play something one way and it sounds better to my ear, I’ll always lean that way over taking the comfortable road. Basically, I think downstrokes sound better in this song. Personal preference, of course.

    why only down strokes on the a string during the 2 verses? not up/down for some efficiency? does it give a different sound for you?

    Are you not using alternate picking on the intro/verses? No wonder your forearm was blasted. I can't alternate pick for beans, but I try it on this anyway.

    • @GuitarforHISGlory
      @GuitarforHISGlory  5 лет назад +1

      I don't like the tone from alternate picking. The attack is completely different. Tone > Comfort. LOL. 🎸 😂

  • @ZuriekJT
    @ZuriekJT 5 лет назад +4

    I see why your forearm is hurting. Relax your arm and try alternate picking.

    • @GuitarforHISGlory
      @GuitarforHISGlory  5 лет назад +1

      J T, alternate picking doesn’t produce the same tone. 👍🏻

    • @ZuriekJT
      @ZuriekJT 5 лет назад +5

      That simply isn't true. If you are consistent with your attack and muting, you will not notice any difference. Alternate picking for something like this does take practice. I play this with alternate picking and I promise you can too. Try it and practice a bit. It'll make a lot of your music easier to play.
