i was astonished, overwhelmed and astounded when I have heard it live! the bass was all over me and I simply stood in daze, i would give so much just to hear THAT song live again (and so jealous-just as immense experience)

Yes! When you hear this song live you can feel all the emotions from Tegan, and they've always been capable to capture that in the studio versions, but you can't feel it in this one.

I became a fan with this record and I just love how they take the piss out of each other in these track by track clips.
I took it as, I fought my "nature". Prior to meeting my wife I did not really have a GF because I usually just cut and ran. The line "I stuck around, I did behave, I saved you every time, I was a fool for love" really resonated w/me. Sometimes I think of staying & trying to be this person worthy of her makes me a fool because I have given up part of myself to do so. However, the song is almost at least in my mind when I read the lyrics, is not one persons thoughts. It is almost like a couple is having a talk or an argument. Someone sweet like my wife annoyed with her/his person like me.
My favourite lyrics in this song are 'I stuck around, I did behave.' it's so true for so many relationships that can't be fixed. You try but you fail. but at least you tried your best, that's all you can do.

I think Tegan and Sara write songs that people can relate too. In the way that everyone is weak sometimes. And Love makes us weaker. I can totally relate to this son. Its such a good album I love it

This one is my favourite track on the album ladies. It completely sums up my last relationship, which is a powerful feeling to know others went through it too.

It's better to be a fool and be devoted to one love, one soul, one mind than moving on and on with new and new faces... this sense of devotion, putting one's love over one's self, and putting the heart over the head, clearly comes out as a selfless romance in this song. Also seen from the perspective of the role of the 'fool' in Shakespearean drama- a fool is the only character who can criticise the norm, even the king, without any hesitation; and thus being a fool gives one the freedom to follow one's heart and one's passion irrespective of logic and societal norms... this song certainly doesn't portray the 'fool' as a loser, but as a passionate and free lover who listens to the call of the heart fearlessly!

Watch the recordings of live performances. There are tons of them on youtube (e.g. wojo4hitz, marchingstars). They are better than "music videos" which are usually horrible and fake. They started playing the new songs around September 2012.
The Fool stands on the edge of a cliff, waiting to jump into the material world. Before (s)he jumps, (s)he look back and see the mountains, the spirt realm (s)he'll constantly want to get back to. (S)He has all of (s)her belongings packed, a small white dog pecks at (s)his feet, a call back to the real world, usually distracting them. With a white rose in one hand, resembling innocence, (s)he's ready to jump. Some would call this folly, is it? We are all fools.
I really love this song, the lyrics are great and powerfull. But is it me or there's a little bit of autotone on Tegan's voice? It seems a little bit different, it makes me kind of sad.
