    Do you ever teach having your empty hand as the lead hand to protect your cane, and cane hand as the rear hand , and when he closes distance, you grab him with your lead hand and leveraging him and beat him with your cane that is in your other hand?
    This is a No Stress Mike technique.
    Thanks in advance!

      You have a very good memory. I've followed Mike for years, and if I'm correct, his segment on that 'grab them and beat them' technique was only briefly demonstrated on one video 7 or 8 years ago.
      I really feel for him since his health has been declining lately. Sadly, the Philippines may end up being his final adventure.

      I don't think he's going to go on a life of crime anytime soon and if he does going to live a crime for the love of God don't try and hit him with a stick. He take a Cain away from me and beat me with it and I weigh 240 lb I'm five-ten and I'd box him, but no stick and hopefully we could have a custom match in a parking lot full of cars or something to cut off that ring so he can't do all that stuff. Never fight anybody in a wide-open place cuz that's where they train if you have to get into it with somebody if you get a pic the location try and catch him sitting down. Preferably in a booth and then keep jabbing the point of that cane at him keep him penned in that Booth while you're whacking him throwing stuff at him with the other hand off the table. This guy's rough character hard to arrest

      He’s been practicing it for a while and his timing has improved enough that he can beat me with the technique most of the time. By using his core muscle(turning through the shoulders and hips,) he is stronger with his whole body than I am with my arms.

    Speaking of Hook handles.
    Back in the 1960s my father used his umbrella, to snatch a dude off the hood of a car.
    He hooked the guy by his ankle and yanked. The guy landed on his butt and my father continued to pull until, the guy was off the car. Then pops ran a set (combinations) on him.
    I personally don't know of anyone else who has done it. I'm sure some gentlemen in the 19th or early 20th century used it. 😅
    I showed my son how you can hook someones leg, with a hook handle umbrella or cane.

    I have a question, Matt. What do you think of those tactical canes that are a hardened composite and have brass/steel hammer style handle. Or canes that have a heavy ball for a handle or even canes that have a long dagger/sword? I recently had a spinal injury and am using a cane now to get around. Love your channel!

    • @pasquinilli
      @pasquinilli  Год назад +3

      Thanks Harry! The canes with the heavy handle are great! The sword canes are hit or miss. Some are made poorly and will easily break, creating a hazard to you that can hurt you. Also, for self defense, the sword cane is really hard to justify as a defensive tool.

  • @gmsinding1766
    @gmsinding1766 9 месяцев назад +11

    this doesnt work if the other guy is strong, i tried this today 3 times and the guys grip wouldnt break ....infact he could just move it the other way and counter it. best to avoid this situation or you'll be taken out

    • @pasquinilli
      @pasquinilli  9 месяцев назад +6

      It will work with practice regardless of his strength. It isn’t a perfect solution though. And you are right, avoiding the situation is best of all solutions. Thank you.

    • @19822andy
      @19822andy 5 месяцев назад +6

      Yeah these tactics are only good in specific situations. Attackers are thinking humans who will act unexpectedly, suddenly, violently and sneakily. Drills are bad without actual resistance training because people won't be as compliant as their training buddies or instructor. Having sai this it's better to have some knowledge than none, even if that is training with drills or just watching a class.
      If the size difference is the same as the video then there's no chance that this will work.

  • @rowbearpucklebuck2331
    @rowbearpucklebuck2331 2 месяца назад +1

    Practice, practice, practice. Take a course in this kind of self defense. You need to experience the forces your body will be subjected to. Then you can decide whether to fend off an attacker with your cane or train to use deadly force of a handgun. I prefer a gun, but then again at 70 years, i have been training and practicing since i was a young man. Both baton and firearm.

    • @pasquinilli
      @pasquinilli  2 месяца назад +1

      Agreed. Both and sometimes you can’t have a firearm at all. Courthouse, large indoor event, some trains, planes, etc..

  • @bobbieschke599
    @bobbieschke599 10 месяцев назад

    Both hands on the cane allows the left hand to strike your temple before he grabs the cane. Also, if he allows you to push the cane up, he can push the hook to your crotch and lift up. If hands remain static, for example you lose striking opportunities with a free hand.

  • @michaelac.griffin8874
    @michaelac.griffin8874 4 месяца назад +1

    I kept thinking that while you had both hands on the cane, he could kick you in the cojones. Realize that’s not directly using the cane, but it did leave you wide open for a kick. Good idea, or no? Thanks for making these videos.

    If the older guy uses the crook of the cane, the curved part to twist it left and right as he pulls he might dislodge it from the bad guys grip?? He could even use both hands to twist it, one hand on part of the curve with the other at the end of the curved part he would have two handed leverage as he twists and pulls hard, he should twist it quickly and violently!! Better if he rotates it both directions really fast as he pulls, twist clockwise loosening his grip and twist again quickly counterclockwise as he pulls hard and that should do it!!

    Was he supposed to hold the open end of the cane against him, so that his hip was inside the crook??? Because if the bad guy ALREADY had TWO hands on the cane, he could have turned and attacked the mid-section of the defender since he was already so close...just inches!!!! But if the defender were to place his hip-section into the crook, he'd be trapped!! C'mon, coach, SLOW DOWN THE STEPS!!! I Can see what you're doing, and how one position leads to another, but you need oi slow it down into segments.

    If you grapple with a street gorilla over your JO staff or your cane, something went wrong.
    Stop the aggression from a distance not nose to nose. Most people don't grapple well unless they are fit and skilled.
