You gotta love Pacquiao. From street kid selling cigarettes on the street to champion and world icon. Attacking dynamic explosive boxing style with a good chin, quick feet and damn blinding hand speed. Plus his warrior instincts and strong will gleaned from his epic battles with all the Mexican greats!
Wow!!! Simply amazing, ever tried hitting a heavy bag? I wouldn't say that it's hard, but pacquiao throws such hard fast punches and makes it look easy! Pacquiao is one of a kind!
Having Manny, Amir, Vanes Martiroysyan, James Toney, Bernard Hopkins, Juan "Hispanic Causing Panic" Lazcano and the rest of the Wild Card Boxing Clubs, professional legends in your gym can only inspire more determination to believe you can be the world champion. If you really are serious about boxing...that's the sort of gym you need to be training to be welcome in. Watching young Manny in this video and also knowing how has improved is inspiring. Good on you Freddie and your team
@thrombocytopenis the weird thing is that it gives the illusion of reach, but in reality he knows exactly his distance and is strong enough to keep the bag where he wants it. And turns his shots so fast.
this is when pacquiao wasnt as famous world wide as he is now, yyou can see the gym is packed and now when he trains the gym is close for him to concentrate

Everyone is beatable. But not everyone is beatable when they are in their prime. No one can take this man on right now or any time in the foreseeable future.
Its interesting to see that something so fundamental as not following the bag with punches can go so far. Notice how Manny doesn't chase the bag with punches or hooks, he simply moves and positions him self for the next punch.
Yah I thought about this too. In beginner boxing, we're always thought to punch eye level or higher if your a shorter guy to simulate actual fighting dynamics. But from what I see here, Pac is punching the bottom of the bag which has more resistant compared to if he was punching the middle of the bag. I usually do this too if the heavy bag is low to work on power punches.
My God!....how does he hit the heavy bag so aggressively with so much sting and power????? I just quit hitting the heavy bag an hour ago becuz i was so frustrated with my rhythm and plus my tiredness.. This man is jus unbelievable.
At age of 42 Pacquiao is fighting the #1 Welterweight, the #5 lb for lb, taller, longer reach, bigger, undefeated / unified champion Spence Jr. For the 'Lineal', Ring, + WBA, WBC, IBF 147 lbs titles. He started pro at 106 lbs, became the 'Lineal' champion at 112 lbs way back 1998 at the age of 19.
Manny was a freak athlete. Like Mike Tyson or Roy Jones Jr. He did things that normal fighters just could not do. His foot speed, hand speed, power, and work rate are legendary. What flyweight in history had enough power to carry up all the way to welterweight?
It's frightening to watch Manny hit the heavy bag, it really is a thing of beauty. One thing that strikes me though is that he appears to hit it quite low, like at his opponents chest level.
even when he was in the 135 division he wasnt weighting that fight night.. he was weighting like 144. and when he fought de la hoya he re-hydrated like no more than 5 pounds, i dont remember.
@onlyjoetee why? The point is to swing it forward and keep it there in one postition with a combo by moving forward with footwork. It's a good way to do it rather than just waiting for it to be neutral again. Much more like fighting a real apponent that a static target. It takes alot more speed and balance to be able to do that, if your too slow the bag will come back and either move you back, shorten your punch to much or throw you off balance try it.
Manny is awesome he has a great trainer in Freddie Roach. When Mike Tyson was in his prime his heavy bag work was flat out spooky. Difference in weight classes is always relevent. It is like a chainsaw engine compared to a big twin four stroke. Both are entertaining.
This was the version of Manny that Floyd avoided. He waited until 2016 after he slowed down and wasn't training like a complete mad man. I still think 100% prime Manny would have given Mayweather some serious problems with his handspeed and power.
Heavy bags are used mainly to work on endurance not speed. manny is just punching this fast to make sure he has the endurance to keep up with his fast pace punching.
@MrRoyalFatness he's also a solid 140 lbs holding up this heavy bag w. his combos....theres plenty of power behind his punches.....he has both speed and power....hence..he's the best pound for pound boxer
I am completely aware that even the greatest pure boxer in history, would have no chance against a great UFC fighter in an MMA fight. That being said, I would still like to see a well rounded MMA fighter (JuJitsu, wrestling, Jodo, Kicks, etc), combined with this type of hand speed/accuracy.
Well, I live in Germany and here the Klitschkos are huge since they train and live here aswell. In Germany almost no boxing fan has ever even heard of Pacquiao, Mayweather or DeLaHoya. Here the Klitschko brothers are the face of boxing. I believe the only reason the Heavyweight Division might seem dead to you is because there are no good American heavyweights at the moment. But here in Europe it is still the most exciting weightclass.
Manny has been doing this for years so working on the bag like this will probably not affect much of his perception of punching higher at an actual fight
Pretty much the most spectacular heavy bag work one can ever see.
It makes you want to go to gym and replicate it.
and then u see these dumbasses post it on instagram with trash technique and no speed or power thinking they are the shit... lmfao

He moves so quick my computer is lagging...
i thought i was watching the Mosley fight for a minute
punches sounded like gunshots... like a freaking armalite or ak47.
His power level broke my scouter.
Heavy bags are used mainly to work on endurance not speed. manny is just punching this fast to make sure he has the endurance to keep up with his fast pace punching.
those were the days, but no more today!! :(
I wonder if Pac ever watched Family Guy...he could use Quagmire's "Giggity, giggity, giggity...goo!"
@MrRoyalFatness he's also a solid 140 lbs holding up this heavy bag w. his combos....theres plenty of power behind his punches.....he has both speed and power....hence..he's the best pound for pound boxer
Manny:bag,bag,bag, sing,sing,sing.. the bag:stop hitting me i cant sing🤣🤣🤣
Punching heavy bag is easy for anyone, but punching it by thinking is in the realm of professional boxers.
When your hands are this rapid and powerful you don't need a guard! Scary!
I am completely aware that even the greatest pure boxer in history, would have no chance against a great UFC fighter in an MMA fight. That being said, I would still like to see a well rounded MMA fighter (JuJitsu, wrestling, Jodo, Kicks, etc), combined with this type of hand speed/accuracy.
that title bag is tougher than pac's last three opponents.
this is manny pacquiao training for boxing and singing at the same time
HIS COMBO is the BEST lethal in boxing .... he hits a lot ...
His stamina is crazy man after all those flurries
To be honest i see in this video more intensity then Manny is showing now in 2011.
The fact that the bag is taking 8-10 power punch combos but still not swaying wildly means it's quite heavy. I'd say its between 70-100 lbs.
he punched it like a machine
Manny be lettin them hands go boy.
Manny has been doing this for years so working on the bag like this will probably not affect much of his perception of punching higher at an actual fight
i love the tune of manny's punches pa-pa-pa-pa-pa- pa-pakman!
Man hes fast as hell
this speed is on a whole notha level. anyone whos ever hit a bag before knows how tiring that gets
Damn, this is incredible to watch.
This kid has a bright future.
this is suppose to be a heavy bag workout but it still looks like hes on the speed bag
this guy is so strong for his weight
