Personally i think people try to hit too many winners, not even on defensive situations some average shots are not winner material, and people still aim to the lines... they dont have the patience to wait for the right shots. The main problem is pushers tend to be great runners and if you are not that great at offense your odds arent the best honestly ( i was a pusher myself growing up, it was also a great way to have a mental edge on other kids, young players )
I played a half-marathon runner once. He got everything. I had to hit the corners and the sidelines in order to make points. You really have to consider your fitness. Practice the smash whenever possible and try to attack pushers.
I will be embarrassed to be a pusher honestly. I think is better to improve your technique, take some risks and make good progress along the way. I will use this for the following times.
You can train your attacking tennis in practise but if you think your best way to win match on on competiton is defending or pushing, how you want to say it just use that strategy.
Pushers are 99 percent topfit. They want you get out of gas on the road. You have to consider this before you go in with exhausting crosscourt rallies. My suggestion is to practice as often as possible the smash from all areas (especially between the serviceline and the baseline) on the court.
