  • Ever wondered what would happen if a needle hits our planet earth with the speed of light? Well, experts say the energy would be so unmatched, that the crater formed by the collision, would not just be bigger than that caused by a meteor strike; but would also create a series of tragic events that would rip the planet apart. Wanna know more? Well, stay tuned to find it!

For those who are thinking why wouldn't it burn in earth atmosphere, the answer is burning is caused in presence of oxygen, and combustion is an oxidation reaction. Since needle is moving at speed of light, there won't be much time for reaction to take place , so since t is very small reaction wouldn't take place and it will not burn like a meteor, and an object which travels with speed of light causes time dilation which is explained by Lorentz theory of relativity. And as Gaurav explained the size of needle will almost become negligible relatively

We are able to see the light because the light is not just a single photon it is travelling in a series, for exa. Just imagine a drop of water moving at 1000m per sec u will not be able to see it but if we replace it with a stream of water then we can see it similarly drop is photons and stream is light made up of small photons 🙂👍

Any material object moving at the speed of light would behave as though it had infinite mass. This would mean its impact force was also infinite, and so would be the amount of force needed to accelerate it to that speed in the first place.
Stuff like this is why nothing can move at the speed of light. But if the needle was moving at almost the speed of light, there's a phenomenal chance of the planet being entirely destroyed.

I have a counter argument: Needle ka shape aerodynamic h aur uske front me point of contact sirf ek point k barabar h. Jisse ki impact Kisi bdi chiz k takrane jesa nhi hoga. Jese ek famous magic show ka principal h ki chizo k niche se kapda speed me khicho to chize vhi pr intact rhti h. Vese hi dharti pr sari chize inertia of stay me rhegi aur light speed se aati hue needle uska surface area kam hone ki vjah se impact bdi jagah me krne ki jagah ek straight line me hi impact daal payegi aur speedly ek hole krke bahar ho jayegi. Haa agr vo itni speed ki vjah se melt ho kr apna shape badal kr aerodynamic na rhe to shayad impact bura hoga

Jab prakash (light) hamari aankhon mein padta hai, tab hamare retina mein light-sensitive cells (rods and cones) iska signal generate karte hain, jisse hum light ko dekh paate hain.

Proton ka size hai, lekin wo itna chota hai ki uska direct observation karna bohot mushkil hai. Proton ka size quantum physics ke principles se define hota hai, jisme uska position aur momentum ka exact measurement ek sath nahi kiya ja sakta. Isliye, proton ka size subatomic level pe define hota hai aur wo light ki speed se travel karta hai, lekin uska size hai.

It is impossible for any object with mass to travel at the speed of light, according to the theory of relativity. Even if an object were to travel at near-light speeds, it would have an enormous amount of kinetic energy that could result in a catastrophic impact upon collision with the Earth, despite any time dilation effects.
For example, let's consider a needle with a mass of 0.3 grams, traveling at 90% of the speed of light, or approximately 2.7 x 10^8 meters per second. The kinetic energy of the needle can be calculated using the equation:
    Kinetic Energy = (1/2) x mass x velocity^2
Plugging in the numbers, we get:
    Kinetic Energy = (1/2) x 0.3g x (2.7 x 10^8 m/s)^2
    Kinetic Energy = 3.3 x 10^16 joules
This amount of kinetic energy is equivalent to about 7.9 megatons of TNT, which is roughly half the energy released by the largest nuclear weapon ever detonated. This illustrates the potential catastrophic impact of an object, even a small one like a needle, traveling at near-light speeds colliding with the Earth. 😜

If a needle were thrown at the speed of light towards Earth, it would not have a significant impact on the planet. The needle would likely burn up upon entering the Earth's atmosphere, and its relatively small size would not cause any significant damage even if it were to hit the surface. However, it is important to note that it is not possible for any physical object to travel at the speed of light as per the laws of physics.

The needle traveling at light speed is impossible.agar hoga tho the needle will start buring due to the atmosphere and gravitational pressure.moreover the has a very small radius.if still enters the earth's core the needle gets burnt immediately due to the high temperature of 5,200° Celsius (9,392° Fahrenheit).but as it is travelling at a speed of light chances of distriction is more.but due to the mass of the earth the energy completely get distributed equally that the needle stop moving.

What happen then if shells of each and every element become empty due to provided kinetic energy by needle ?
