He's got a point you don't really need to be sub-10 the important thing is you can solve the cube. But if you're really sub-10 that's quite good.

Sub-10 was the wall for me. My average when I stopped practicing was right around 10.5. I had ao5s and ao12s well under 10 but I never got there consistently

Hope you have a great weekend.

I am kinda losing interest in cubing, mainly because my study load has increased a lot and I don't get enough time. I am sub 9 right now, and it feels such a waste now, I wouldn't care if I were sub 15 level. Now that I have had some perspective, I would suggest younger cubers to not get so worked up in improving their times by one second (as I did) , because in the end it doesn't even matter.

you could say that about anything. It's all about opinions and our own lifegoals. Not everyone loves cubing as much as you or me. It's not our business what's important to others and what isn't important.

The thing that broke the barrier for me is me taking one month standardized every single algs and F2L cases together with the fingertricks. I did PLL/OLL time attack, do a tons of untimed solves for cross to F2L, try to always plan full cross + 1 pair. And then when it comes to the solves I just spam max TPS, i do micro pause a lot but because I can do all of my algs with my muscle memory, I can afford the spare mental focus to briefly look toward to the next thing. With drilling it super easy to sup 1.2 all PLL/OLL, and 2 side recognition.

Great information! I just started cubing this summer and got the GAN i Carry and use Cubeast as well. While I'm using 4LL and only average 39s, being able to see the TPS and working on driving that up got me down there from around a 44s average in just a day or so. It's good to know how many turns I should be doing as I'm averaging 75-80 (using 4LL). So even with my 2 TPS, if I can learn full OLL/PLL that should save me about 7 seconds.

Efficiency is my problem on 3x3.
I have a smart cube and when I do solves a lot of times they are 70 to 75 moves. I can turn at 6 tps a lot of times but my efficiency has to improve. It's most likely f2l that is my main problem.
    I'm sub 12 btw.
