how BEEF CAN SAVE THE WORLD

  • Do NOT eat mor chikin! In this video, I'm out to turn conventional wisdom on its head. Beef has gotten a bad rap lately, starting with the 2018 Lancet article. I explain how wrong the article's conclusions are, and how healthy cattle-pasture systems can heal us and our environment via an in-depth look at how these systems work. Eating 100% grass-fed beef from local farms using regenerative grazing principles is much better for your and the planet's health than grain-based meats like poultry, or even intensively farmed vegetables. 100% grass-fed beef is the best way to eat a close-to-the-planet, low embedded fossil fuel energy diet.

    In the United Kingdom, virtually all beef production is grass fed in summer and hay/silage in the winter, it works here.

    What a fantastic video. I live on a small farm where we have a small herd of beef cattle and like you believe that the way to fix the problem with the environment is to step back from the mistakes we have made rather than rushing forward and making more. Living with the natural systems rather than imposing an artificial solution. I believe we should let the land inform us about what we grow. Thank you for sharing.

    Growing up our family were beef eaters. I always enjoyed a good steak or hamburger but the last few years it's like my system is allergic to beef. I know they made changes to make them grow faster. The large supermarkets have driven the local butchers who always had good meat out of business. We can only hope that the grass fed beef makes a strong comeback.

    When I've been to the midwest and see the thousands and thousands of acres of corn and grain growing, your mind tends to think that it is feeding people but in fact, much of it is made into feed for animals that could be raised on a large scale on those very acres by letting them go to pasture..

    I agree completely that answer to our food problems is to return to locally raised and sourced foods. Not just meats, but produce and dairy as well. When I was a kid that's just how things were done and it worked beautifully. And though I love red meat, I do have to take issue with some things you mentioned. I believe we can see and realize the same results and benefits with poultry as you mentioned with beef. We might not be at the same level yet with poultry, but some people are making great strides in that direction. I am currently working towards growing most if not all the feed my birds will need right here on our farm.

    You have done your homework and linked it altogether so that it makes sense. I learned a thing or two as a hobby farmer. In our area not many understand about grains and animals. Cattle are fed grains that make wonderfully tender meat but that meat is not natural and from what I see, people want unnatural meat that is tender and tastey.. Little do people know that cattle are gmo altered from A2 to A1. That means that caseine has increased and our bodies cannot handle that ammount. I have knitting needles made of it so that tells me something is wrong. But, back to where we were. Our grass fed beef steaks are tough so we don't make steaks since we learned about meat. Meat needs to be cooked long and slow in a pot, except for tenderloin and maybe prime rib. And fat is healthy, our bodies need it and yet meat cutting schools are training us to remove it because it is evil, when our bodies need it, ack, such a skewed system.
    Yes, the solution is to fix the system that we have allowed to be broken, but, the masses are under mass psyc hosis and fixing our broken system will never happen. All we can do, unfortunately is keep going until they come for us too.
    Wonderful video that I will share the link with my family. Thank you

    Geese are grazing poultry. I also raise Dexter cattle but my entire operation is entirely restrorative. I agree with you but you need to learn how to raise chickens without feeding them grain. Alfalfa + Mealworms = grains. I raise the mealworms. I grow the grass seeds ground to raise my mealworms. I grow about 500/lbs of mealworms (after drying) per year)

    • @andreafalconiero9089
      @andreafalconiero9089 4 года назад +2

      People say that, but it's really just an excuse used by those who don't want change. As you say, there is a lot of underutilized land that could be made healthier, for both livestock and wildlife by converting it to silvopasture. Additionally, there are countless acres of what were once the very _best_ lands that are used for growing toxic commodities like GMO corn and soybeans to produce processed food-like substitutes that are destroying human health. These lands could be healed by converting them back to permanent pasture, and if we don't act soon to do this, in a century we'll have nothing but deserts. Civilizations throughout history have gone down the path of destroying their soil fertility by perpetually cropping land, and all of them eventually failed once the resource base they needed to produce food wore out. Industrial agriculture has merely _accelerated_ the rate at which soils are degraded by cropping. On most American cropland, soil organic matter is now practically non-existent, and the only reason anything grows at all is because of constant chemical inputs -- farmers grow these crops on what is essentially sterile, lifeless _dirt,_ not soil! Without soil organic matter, farming becomes an environmental disaster, causing both flooding and contamination of waterways due to poor infiltration of rainwater... The problems with this system are practically endless, and eating chicken and more plants won't solve them! Pete has this exactly right -- we need to eat a lot more grassfed beef, and less of everything else.
