About the eyes I think you missed the animal stand point on it as well. Joyous eye is very reminiscent of a goats. In universe it might have been modeled after the main popularion of Lethania, goat people. Not only to add that herbivores are normally seen as safe animals. Anger and Sorrow eyes are reminiscent of a humans (same with Tomorow's, signifying human progress most likelly!). The most common eye type seen around nowadays, in universe that is, since the majority of the population is mostly human. Very round eye with a proper Iris. The small context on them, red "horns" on anger and side curves (a "halo") on sorrow, may tie them further into afterlife shenennigans. The last eye, Fear Opus, is back to reminiscing of animals, this time, predators. Likely modeled from them. Lethanian people likely seen other predatory species as dangerous, something they must hidro from else be hunted, a primal fear into itself! Nothing else to say here really. Remenber that on arknights there are people like Mountain that are very much animalistic, these people will show diferent irises from the more common (and Franklyn boring) humans with animal ears and tails.
Thanks for the insight! This story is certainly one that I'm not as familiar with so I definitely am missing some connections that could be made. Really appreciate your comment!
This is smth ai just cant create on the spot, this is the product of the people of hypergryph's designs and cooperations, just -chef's kiss- perfection that ai cant replicate, even the lore, i dont wanna say goodbye to these card designs tho 😢
Don’t worry my guy more and more ppl are pushing against Gen ai. That and some places like South Korea and for now the US just out right don’t give Gen Ai copyright protection. And ppl are starting to wake up to the marketing bs. As for china idk but knowing low light he knows part of the reason ppl play Arknights is the story and art from the illustrators. I can’t say though they will use it in the future in some way shape or form
The moment I tried this side minigame, I knew you were going to make a video and, as always, the quality didn't disappoint. Thank you so much for this.
Haha yeah I really did fall in love with this minigame but it was a real shame that I didn't get to play around with it more. Thank you for your support!
Haha. Thanks, but Arknights always deserves people to appreciate the work of its developers and artists and I'm just only one of many people who love this specific part of this game.
As a small comment the backgrounds of each card are also related to their titles Happiness card: An die rose > Near/beside the rose Anger card: Vedunien Geigenbauer > Vedunien violin maker (I'm not sure about vedunien) Sadness card:Trauerhorns nachlied > Sad horns' night song Fear card: Der verdrehte turm > The twisted tower Tomorrow's oppus: Die reise > The trip/journey
A very insightful and thorough analysis. There were a lot of things, especially with the card designs, that i didn't notice myself and seeing them showcased in this video really made me appreciate the art of this minigame more. Arknights really does do some amazing graphic design. Could you maybe also dive into Expeditioner's Joklumarkar graphic design? The Foldartals designs along with the design theme of the UI of early American expeditioner's notes and documents combined with the tribal aesthetic and icy elements really make for an unique experience that I believe would make for a pretty good video subject.
Thank you! I'll perhaps keep it in the bucket list of video ideas but I'm even less familiar with those sorts of artworks and designs so it may take a long while till I feel comfortable with tackling it.
well, I'm glad you went through the trouble of explaining it to me. I skipped reading everything and just randomly clicked on combos or cheated by looking up the answer on a chart.
Unable to sleep at 3 am. Your video talking about arknight design always amazed me with how careful arknight designer. I hope you can be a big content creator talking about game design. Especially arknight.
Thanks so much for this! To be honest I’ve been thinking of making merch based on their graphic design (physical pins based on the medals would be so awesome!!!) but I’m not so sure about the legalities.
Your Arknights graphics breakdown videos are always a treat and I always watch it immediately whenever I see a new upload from you on my feed. Will you be doing a graphical breakdown on IS4?
Oh wow heya @Roriipupper, thanks for your support! I'll consider taking a look at IS4 but since I'm even less familiar with the design style of IS4 it would probably be quite a while till I feel confident enough to tackle it.
I’ll be honest I do appreciate the amount of effort, thought and well art goes into these parts of the events. Even if I didn’t read what they were saying and just used inferences to pick out the song.
One thing about the Joy eye for me, the tendrils at the side might also resemble arms, and the shape of them can be someone doing the 'wave; motion with their arms which usually signifies joy and happiness. Iirc it's commonly done in sporting events when your team is winning for example, and done in parties and other gatherings and dances.
In regards to the fear opus, my first thought in regard to the meaning of the tall tower in the illustration was tying it to a fear of heights, which is a common phobia. Loved the video! Looking forward to more akin to it in the future
Thank you!!! Finally someone who actually comprehended the emotions mix match and the hindsight of this mini game instead of just complaining about it!!! Thank you!!!!
I loved this video and the analysis was very insightful. Great job! For the thing about Arknights reporting profits as red, that may be because red is associated with good luck and prosperity in Chinese culture
I must commend you on your video, which once again has shown it selve to be a masterpiece. I realy enjoy your insites and the ability to bring out all the small deatails hidden in side of the events.
And people said that we, the EN dwellers, can't read and don't care about the lore. What a blatant ignorancy! This video proves that EN players and CC do care about lores and details in Arknights. As always, Great Job! :D
I really hated the colors, because they are so muted that it makes it very hard to distinguish them when you look at the small icons. I have no problems seeing the differences in the crafting menu, but once the colors are on the cards and you try to recreate a certain card it becomes a struggle.
The problem is that Hypergryph is really good at making things pretty but they never considered that all these slow animations would be annoying to do 21 days in a row.
About the eyes I think you missed the animal stand point on it as well.

@@HalfACupOfRice Not at all! Your video was an amazing watch! Very insightfull as well. You made some connections I hadn't done myself!
Do you plan to do a similar type of video on any of the other events current or upcoming? If you have the time that is

Desire for wisdom looks like an owl spreading its wings.
The Anger Opus eye also looks like a horned beast. The two smaller red shapes look like eyes then, there's also fangs inside the eye shape.
As a small comment the backgrounds of each card are also related to their titles
Happiness card: An die rose > Near/beside the rose
Anger card: Vedunien Geigenbauer > Vedunien violin maker (I'm not sure about vedunien)
Sadness card:Trauerhorns nachlied > Sad horns' night song
Fear card: Der verdrehte turm > The twisted tower
Tomorrow's oppus: Die reise > The trip/journey
Verdunien is the name for Zwillingstürme from before and during the Witch Kings reign.
"An die Rose" is "for the rose"
"An der Rose" would be "near/beside the rose"
@AtomTomZeitalter, you gotta love german articles
I did gloss over titles and descriptions of the cards for most of them so thanks for your comment!

Stunning animation and music, shame it was a tedious nightmare
I do wish this minigame was a little bit more challenging. Always like how clear and easy to understand your explanation is, keep cooking 🔥
Thank you!
I love Arknights' designs and man, your videos just make me appreciate them even more!

Absolutely magnificent video. Wish you luck and an undepletable inspiration!
I just realized the "eye" in the Tomorrow card isn't an eye, but some kind of black hole.
Like one that appears at the face of Collapsal enemy.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! I'm super excited! I'm glad you're still making these videos!
Thank you! I certainly do plan to do more graphic design rambles but hopefully also explore other parts of AK that interest me.
The tomorrow’s opus eye also looks like a collapsal from IS4

Haha thank you for your kind words. I'm certainly by no means the best RUclipsr on the planet but I hope to improve on my videos in the future!
