Although fittingly respected as orchestrator/arranger, Jacob strikes me as being somewhat underrated as a composer in his own right. The Concerto features a brilliant part for the soloist (performed exquisitely by Lindberg) but I found myself marvelling just as much at the orchestral setting which, in itself, reveals the composer's mastery across three contrasting movements. The central Adagio (7:11 - 14:20) has a particularly compelling, mystical quality.
