Who else immediately thinks of Phoebe Cates when they hear this tune ;) Was introduced to the Cars when I was seven (R.I.P. Dad) and they've always had a unique sound and place in my life.
These guys were not just rock stars, they were true musicians. You see how good a band is when they play live. These cats are always note for note!! Great songs and great performers. Ben Orr’s vocals are like silky smooth yet cut right thru. Easton has always been a guitar hero of mine who grew up in that era and played in bands and live. Great to see when good guys make it.
I remember being at a bonfire in 1979 and jamming to “Let’s Go.” I was 15 years old; I’m 59 now. These great tunes bring back so many fond memories of my youth. Thank you for the music. 🎶🎤🎵
What more to add what Keith said other than the Cars were a truly unique sounding fantastic band with 2 singers that had incredible voices. After watching some of these videos I did not realize Benjamin Orr sang many of the songs. I have a solo album from Rick Ocasek that is one of my favorites. These guys really had a unique sound that other bands could not copy if they tried.
Miss this band - so much! When they first started, back in the late 70's, I fell in love with them instantly! Especially Ben....such great and talented musicians!
From our teens....we blasted these 5 guys our our car stereo speakers....now we're all senior citizens.....still watching listening singing along with THE IMMORTAL 5: THE CARS
Benjamin Orr vocals were always in key. R.I.P. Ben and Ric Ocasek. Orr died at age 53 on October 3, 2000 from pancreatic cancer. The surviving original members of the Cars reunited in 2010 to record the band's seventh and final album, Move Like This, which was released in May 2011. Following a short tour in support of Move Like This, the band once again went on hiatus. In April 2018, the Cars were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and reunited to perform at the induction ceremony. It was the band's final performance with Ocasek, who died in New York at the age of 75 on September 15, 2019 of cardiovascular disease. The Cars were Ric Ocasek - lead and backing vocals, rhythm guitar, keyboards, Elliot Easton - lead guitar, backing vocals, Benjamin Orr - lead and backing vocals, bass, keyboards, Greg Hawkes - keyboards, guitars, backing vocals, David Robinson - drums, percussion, backing vocals
