This is a great resource ! Very well done. I am having grinding issues on my box and I am looking for a service manual to use in addition to your video - don't suppose you have a recommendation on where I may find ?
Hello Scott . I have a 1999 Carrara and my transmission is running rough in the nose cone section. The car pulls and shifts perfectly just makes noise. What could be the cause of this ?
Thanks for making these videos. My 996 also is due for a transmission rebuild. At 150k miles, Bearings are getting noisy and first gear is getting difficult to engage even after adjusting the cables. What made you decide to do a rebuild?
pencap914 - I was having the “clutch out neutral rattle” issue. Appears it is a worn first gear. This requires replacement of the input shaft(due to the smaller gear of first actually being cut into the shaft). Im not ready to do that, so i replaced 1-2 synchro and second gear. I’m just going to live with the rattle for now. Also installed WavTrac LSD. Huge difference around corners.
Hello. Thnx for nice video. I have similar problem second gear goes to neutral when I go downhill and take foot of gas pedal. Do you know what can be problem ? If I excelerate in 2 gear it is perfect.
akaki gogsadze There is a shift fork upgrade replacement piece you can have installed. It has a better detent for second gear. I was not having this issue, however I installed the upgraded fork anyway. Also your 1-2synchro is probably worn out.
Thank you Scott, your videos saved me! You Rock! 🤘😎

No I don’t know of any service manual. I only went by the parts diagrams.
@@scott90fzr thank you for the response.

Akaki - at 1:43 in this video see item #3 this is the shift fork I upgraded.
Visit gboxweb dot com and look for “Gbox upgraded second gear detent” this can be installed without disassembling transmission.
