look at all the software plug-ins he had to use.just to reproduce this amazing technical masterpiece of 80's music! Now imaging how many real physical analog synths , mixers, drum machines, etc he would've use to replicate this kick ass beat by Real Life! Either Way, u did an amazing job with this!
"Pulsing Synth" is just chords held steady, but a drum machine CV gate is pulsing the filter and volume with 8th notes, but it comes out as 16th notes because there's a 16th note audio delay on the output, so you hear the original pulse and then the audio delay repeats that pulse. After the audio delay is a chorus and reverb. I often do that delay trick because it's impossible to play something like that live with continuous 16th notes, but 8th notes are easier - you just need good timing.
I love readion daw.I wish I had record to add with readion.I usly just use reason as a rewire.I rewire everything into abolition live.that's my madter daw.I even rewire fl studios, sonar, cubase, protools so on ito ablation than I even midi my external synthes into it.
A little bit of this and that for everything - it's all different. There's a ReFill called Drummer Boy that has a lot of sounds that work great for 80's stuff, it's all the old drum machines. Just a few samples from that, a lot of reverb, and you're there.
Do you believe in heaven above Do you believe in love Don't tell a lie don't be false and untrue It all comes back to you Open fire! On my burning heart I've never been lucky in love My defences are down A kiss or a frown I can't survive on my own If a girl walks in and carves her name in my heart I'll turn and run away Everyday we've all been led astray It's hard to be lucky in love It gets in your eyes It's making you cry Don't know what to do Don't know what to do You're looking for love Calling heaven above Send me an angel Send me an angel Right now, right now Empty dreams can only dissapoint In a room behind your smile But don't give up, Don't give up You can be lucky in love It gets in your eyes It's making you cry Don't know what to do Don't know what to do You're looking for love Calling heaven above Send me an angel Send me an angel Right now, right now.
"Thick Lead Synth" is just a very basic patch - it's Thor's multi-oscillator so you'll need maybe 4 sawtooth oscillators to emulate that, and it's going through a low pass filter with a bit of high resonance to give it some ringing whistle - then just a bit of hall reverb. "Ghostly Warble" is a single triangle oscillator, overdrive distortion to dirty it up and compress it, then add delay and reverb.
wow!!, of all the covers I've heard this is the best, congratulations ... recently i'm making a cover of send me an angel too( Im makin it with Sonar X1), and I'm ask if you can help me.... I have all the chords of all instruments, and the sound effect of each one, but I have tried with a lot of vst plugins, I'm refering to three sounds effect(Patch), as i can see in the video, you have labeled it as 'Thick Lead Synth' , 'Ghostly Warble' and 'Pulsing Synth', I would really appreciate your help
I don't know Sonar at all, but I kept the terms in my descriptions pretty straight forward, so hopefully you can create the patches you need by following the steps I mentioned. I know it's somewhat vague but that's the basic foundation for those patches. The magic is of course in the little adjustments on the patches, but again, I don't know Sonar at all.
RUclips has the link to the original in the description. Usually they do that automatically for copyright reasons if the algorithm detects that the song is in the video. You gave credit in the text so maybe they're just going off of the text but wouldn't it be crazy if your re-creation of the song was indistinguishable to the algorithm from the original version? I've been using Reason since version 1.5 and I am thoroughly impressed with this masterpiece.
This is amazing. Great job, man! Have to ask though. May I use this to sing against on a podcast? I'll be sure to credit you and put links to your channel. If not, no worries. It's just a silly lyric swap karaoke. Thanks for doing this, posting this, and creating.
facebook.com/optimusprimecast/posts/1733685130028160 I also slipped it into the intro of the 2nd half of the "episode" as a recap of the first. If you want to hear the whole gag, it's at about 53:30 in the first part of the episode. You can stream / listen to both off the site. Thanks again for letting me use it for such a silly little thing.
Thank you so much you've been very helpful, I ask me, if it would be possible if you could give me a copy of 'Ghostly Warble' pacth, only to watch and guide me in Sonar, if you dont want to do it I will understand, I hope that I'm not bother you .. however I appreciate greatly your help Thanks...
I sent a reply earlier but I think RUclips didn't post it because I sent you my email address, so I'll try again... send me an email at EditEd4TV at yahoo dot com and I can send you the "Ghostly Warble" patch, but you'll need Reason, it's a Combinator file. I can also send you a screenshot if you prefer, so you can see the settings I have and maybe cross reference the basics there for recreating the patch in Sonor.
Daaaaaaamn, this is an AWESOME version of that iconic 80's song DUDE!!! Congrats : )
Hey thank you Ponzi, I appreciate the kind words! :)

Excellent work! Thanks for sharing
Amazing. Really inspiring work with Reason. This was very well done, and you did a great job recreating those old synth sounds!
I trully like YOUR musical projects!!! I'm using this ONE for some promos of one of my Models/Actresses :)
I was gonna say just place a notice in any video, and then I checked out your site and there it was - thanks man, glad you like it!
Very impressive work!
Oh wow nice oldskool sounds there. Love it :D
Man this is great! mixed to perfection. I thought I was good on my music channel where I did remakes. Its clear that I still have a lot to learn.
Totally Impressive. Got to give it to you! bravo!!!!

Great cover!

Do you believe in heaven above
Do you believe in love
Don't tell a lie don't be false and untrue

Open fire!
On my burning heart
I've never been lucky in love
My defences are down
A kiss or a frown
I can't survive on my own
If a girl walks in and carves her name in my heart
I'll turn and run away
Everyday we've all been led astray
It's hard to be lucky in love
It gets in your eyes
It's making you cry
Don't know what to do
Don't know what to do
You're looking for love
Calling heaven above
Send me an angel
Send me an angel
Right now, right now
Empty dreams can only dissapoint
In a room behind your smile
But don't give up,
Don't give up
You can be lucky in love
It gets in your eyes
It's making you cry
Don't know what to do
Don't know what to do
You're looking for love
Calling heaven above
Send me an angel
Send me an angel
Right now, right now.

Also, again. This is amazing. Out of curiosity, what program are you using to edit?
What are your drums of choice? I prefer zenhiser's retro-drummer. All nicely 'verbed and gated 80's style

Great work. Is this maybe available on request?

Wheres the DA DAA
DA DAA?
speed it up a bit... 1.25 is too much so like 1.10
I haven’t touched this file in many years but as far as I remember it’s tempo mapped to the original. Maybe you’re remembering an alternate version?
The girl screaming is so funny, I couldn't stop laughing.
Done I was send you an email
It sounds great! But how good you are.. midi doesn't replace the great warm sound of a real synthesizer!
1983 version is better than the 1989 version
