I found this the night before my gimp arrives and i'm so excited to do this stitch! I've just learned to gimp a few days ago and it might be my new favorite thing! You explained this stitch really well.
I just wanted to say for the record I am a super beginner (I mean I do small-scale macrame and stuff but with hemp cords, so the slippery plastic-ish cords is a whole different ball game) and your tutorial is top shelf! I got the starting part on the first try, you are very thorough and clear🙏🏼💕 you are appreciated!
This video was so easy to learn an is clear unlike the others ive watched which were so confusing never did a tornado stitch but caught on to this off of first play from this video thank you an now I have to reclean my house tore it apart looking for my string to do this one 😂😂
Thank you for making this video Megan! I’ve had some gimp that I bought a while ago and now I finally have something to make with it! I will be making this as well as the other bracelets you have tutorials about on your channel!🙂
Hey I’m learning how to do more complex keychains with rexlace because I started a small business. But I’m sorry I guess my question is what stitch did you use to end it. Also I just wanna let you know that you are the best teacher when showing how to do these patterns you are by far the easiest to learn from thank you so much ❤😊
I think I’ve shown it in another video but I’ll try and explain it here. Keep your last stitch relatively loose- loose enough you can easily push strings through still but not so loose you can’t tell where things belong. working one individual string at a time, you take the string and go around the folded loop of the string next to it and then feed it up through the centre hole closest to the string you’re working with. Repeat all the way around and then pull the strings tight. This essentially locks the strings in the middle of the stitches. Unfortunately, I don’t know if this has a name but I may try to record a video this weekend! 😊
Thank you so much for this video!! I’ve watched so many different videos on how to do this stitch and yours is by far the best way! I’m so excited!!!!! 😃
I loved your tutorial. When I did my Zebra Tornado I used technically 4 colors but the two non-black and white colors were both a similar shade of pink, one was just glow-in-the-dark XD. I do have a challenge for you though (if it hasn't already been done) if it's possible to to do the zebra part, but with all four strands instead of just the black and white :P
Yea. Never done it though. It’s all just the whole concept of having a what I call a cross stitch, when you start and keep the pattern of the drop over your finger (loop 1) and then around (loop 2) but swap the order of the colors, giving a cross color effect when spiraling as usually, when you do a spiral, the colors swapping places with its neighbor. It’s the same color cuz the neighbors the same color, but swap the neighbors color, and the neighbors colors will swap. There’s some really cool effects! And if you don’t do a spiral, it makes the boring non-spiral box stitch variants more interesting
You won’t get the horizontal striping effect that makes this a zebra stitch. You’ll still be creating a stitch but it won’t look the same it will be a standard tornado stitch.
I’ve found it at craft stores (Michael’s) and department stores (Walmart, Stedman’s, and Zellers back in the day) as well as the dollar store (dollarama). I suspect other similar stores would have it too- usually in the kids craft section.
I’m having a hard time trying to learn this stitch. However, just to clarify, when you take the right white string, you say left. Is this just a oops, instead of saying the right white string?
Hi Sheila, I'll have to re-watch the video to know for sure which part you're speaking of. But if it didn't align with what I was showing on the video then it was most likely just an oops I missed in editing!
The colours I used here are from Michael’s but you can find smaller bundles not on spools at WalMart too. Generally it’s in the kids craft section at both stores!
@@MegMakesCrafts oh, ok. I didn’t know if there was an online retailer or something. Our michaels didn’t have navy blue or silver and that’s what I was looking for. Thanks!
@@blissfulbudgets7415 the only other place I’ve ever purchased it from is Zellers which is out of business and Stedman’s which is like a discount Canadian department store that’s only in small towns. 😂 Have you looked on Amazon?
I get it. Some people watch to connect with a community and people and some just want to see the tutorial. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to do both and find that balance. You can always bump up the playback speed on any video though, if you’re just here for instruction! 🙂 Or try another creator, there’s plenty of rexlace tutorials on RUclips!

I like your intro. 💙💙🤍🖤
I finally did it!
hi, where you can buy the string?

Where do you get your plastic lace from? We are having trouble finding some colors near us.

The length from fingertip to fingertip when your arms are outstretched.

You’ve heard of the fast forward button, right? So rude. She’s sharing her knowledge with us. Have some respect.
