I think Iceland needs some kind of enclave in southern Spain on the Mediterranean coast. Where twice each winter a large group of Icelandic citizens spends two weeks in the southern nice weather before cycling back to their far far north home. And just keep the rotation going so people can get a break from the dark and cold.
