Symphony No 7 in E Major by Anton Bruckner 1. Allegro moderato 2. Adagio 3. Scherzo 4. Allegro ma non troppo New York Philharmonic Paul Hindemith, conductor
As an admirer of Paul Hindemith the composer and viola player, I am grateful for this upload. It expanded my appreciation of him as a conductor of Bruckner's music.
Grabbed me right away. Thought I'd give it a few minutes, as I'd not heard Hindemith conduct any Bruckner, but not expecting anything revelatory. Here I am past 35 min., still held by it. Surely one of the most beautifully shaped and phrased 7ths I've encountered. Deeply expressive, but nothing overdone, i.e. the sweet spot. Thanks very much for the post.
I have stumbled upon the very good friend who very long ago introduced me to Bruckner's 7th, which caused me to spend many hours listening to it instead of writing about J S Mill.
Always love Hindemith
Great conducting perfect
Thanks for sharing
What a beautiful performance! So musical and deeply felt.

A profound appreciation and hommage of and to the composer.
A beautiful performance. On the slow side, but who cares when the music unfolds as beautifully as this.
Recorded on february 28th 1960 ...
Wo ist das Becken, um 34:46? Ist das eine Version ohne?
Jetzt müsste man nur Bruckner wirklich mögen...
Trotzdem: Sehr schöne Aufnahme. Danke!
Beautiful recording! When was it made?
+Dietrich Bonhoeffer I have no information, sorry!

@@GamleMich I guessed correctly, during cough/cold season!
The Bruckner 7 should never be over one hour long.
Why?
So, if this was 30 seconds longer, it would be wrong??
Alter Falter!
