I've noticed that even in regions of the US the menu can differ. It's been years since I've ate at a McDonald's. I do remember the menus being different in almost every European country I visited while I lived in Germany. I did love, as a 17 year old, being able to order my meal with beer at a McDonald's in Germany.
Yes! McDonalds in Maine have lobster rolls. The northeast McDonalds also offer the Crab Sandwich. In the southwest there is the Hatch Green Chilie Burger, and Hawaii offers the Haupia Pie and Saimin.
I’m in Pakistan. My nephew and niece came from America for the holidays and wanted to try the difference between the McDonalds also. They decided to try the basic menu and not the ones created for the local palate. This meant the Big Mac, nuggets and fries. They were absolutely blown away with the difference in taste of all three. They said the flavour of everything tasted like it should - the nuggets tasted of chicken, the hamburger of meat and the fries of potato. So much so that they went back several times to eat although both had given up McDonalds after leaving college. I couldn’t quite twig it but later on came to the conclusion that in this case it was good to be in a Third World country where we can’t afford it do not have the food technology to saturate our foods in preservatives, everything has to be either fresh or at most able to be refrigerated for a day or so. Also the farming process doesn’t involve the high use of chemical fertilisers and insecticides - all too expensive. Does this seem like a reasonable hypothesis to you and Eva? By the way I have totally fallen in love with your content. You have a very unique and interesting spin on food programming, of which there are literally millions. Brava!
Lucky to live in Germany. McRib is a permanent menu item here and has been since I was a kid (so at least since the 80s). :-) But why didn't you try the fried olives?
I once saw an episode of "Emmymade" when she was visiting Japan and the entire episode was about Japan McDonalds' menu items and BOY were they EVER different from North American McDonalds!!
I live in Italy just nearby Sanremo and somehow many years ago (2000/2001) McRib came outta nowhere just for few months. And it was amazing. I can't remember if it cost 2000 Lire (addirittura) or 2 Euro but it was for sure my favorite. I think because of the bbq sauce that was basically unknown in Italy at that time. Thank you guys and McRib in my heart.
Hello again! Fun video as usual. McGnocchi, haha. McToast good! As you said, McDonald's in different countries have some extras that are on their menu. I've eaten in China and South Korea, Germany, and other places as well as here in Budapest. We have sweet potato fries and carrot sticks, and liver mousse or camembert on some specialty burgers. The Asian ones have some crazy combos. Weird jelly stuff and matcha shakes and some really spicy weird tasting pork sandwiches. Everywhere the coffee is pretty good and ice cream and french fries are usually the same. The meat here in Budapest tastes much fresher than in America so I sometimes get a cheeseburger for myself and one for my dog to share at the park. Sorry about the long comment, but I miss our chats on tour! I'm off to Poland, Gdansk, tomorrow so I'll try some Macdonald's pierogi maybe! Don't worry, it's not my staple diet as you know, I'm just curious🤗☺️😉🥰Have a happy Sunday back in Arizona 🌞
Harper, I thought you had ordered the deep fried olives? Thank you for this video, made me chuckle and laugh several times. Mainly at the end with the Mc-Gnocchi saying how it still smelt like McDonald's, LOL!
"Royale with cheese" and it's Pulp Fiction time! And I know (from seeing it in the commercials) that the McRib pops up in Italian stores too from time to time.
Eva, you're an absolute genius, we can do a lot of things out of burger meat, but I'd never thought of doing gnocchi out of french fries.. When I saw those chips in the mixer my brain went... what is she doing? Geniale!! Love you both.
Harper, I can't believe you can still eat McD's after having so much good food from Eva! Eva, make a real, slow cooked, pulled pork sandwich with his favorite BBQ sauce and that McRib will be forgotten. Still, another fun video!!
I always thought it'd be so cool if McDonald's featured their specialty items locally. They could have a special of the month of something they carry in other parts of the world. I heard they have sausage/rice/egg options in Hawaii too. Oh well, probably for the best they don't here. 😄
I don't care what these two are talking about. I just like to watch and wait for the discrepancies between their tastes, preferences, and expectations. Their facial expressions and comments are priceless! And the masterpiece that Eva made at the end out of McDonald's food, McGnocchi Bolognese, was fantastic to see! It just goes to show that an Italian like Eva who can cook is able to turn anything into an edible dish even if the ingredients are not optimally edible to begin with. Eva surely improved what she started with. 😁
I really can't understand how McDonalds (or any fast food chain) can not only survive but thrive here in Italy. I live in Parma and if I think of fast food restaurants I can think of several places that offer far better quality, better variety and better service for almost the same price of a menu at McDonalds. Still, just within the city limits there are three McDonalds, two burger king and a domino's pizza.
When I was going to school in Quito, Ecuador, the guidance counselor had worked in Brazil. Every time she returned to the US, she went to São Paulo first. She was a McDonald's fan, and loved Brazilian McDonald's. She said that the quality of the meat was better. So for some, it's not the same. :)
Southern Italy invented fast food. Pizza, Calzone, Arancini/Suppli/Palline is Riso, Panzarotti, etc. And of course those quick dried pasta sugo’s like Penne Arrabiata, Spaghetti Albion e Olio, etc.
I worked at McD's in the early 90's when the McRib was first introduced and when the McDLT was around and when styrofoam packaging was used for almost everything. We also had a "off menu" item called a Cheese Delite that was similar to the McToast but without ham. You took the hamburger bun and flipped it around so the cut side was facing out, put two pieces of cheese in the middle, and then toasted it on the bun grill (a hot metal platen that would toast the cut sides of the buns). I used to make them for myself and sneak in a slice of tomato.
The McGnocci. I love it!!! 😆😆😆 OMG! I love this video!!! Eva, as usual, is a genius. Who would have thought to do this! And I love the Misen knife plug. I'm not sure I'd ever get one, but it's not like RUclips interruptions that make me want to throw my phone across the room. Excellent video! Loved it.
I live in Austria, so pretty close to Italy but our menu is totally different. Never knew that there is such a difference between countries. But we do have McToast and I love it. I can also confirm that Italian, Austrian and USA french fries taste exactly the same, at least to me.
The DIY at the end reminded me of the Beanie Baby days, when McDonald's was giving out the miniature Beanies... I used to go and wait in line for 20 minutes, get as many Happy Meals as they would let me, and sell the toys (I literally paid for my wedding, from Beanie Baby sales). But then, we were left with all the food! There were some very inventive casseroles created during that craze! LOL.
I have been to Mcdonalds in Milan, and I must agree that the Mctoast is a winner. I loved the bacon double cheeseburger, but my favorite is the french fries. In Italy they still fry them in beef fat. They switched in the US to something else “ healthier”, LOL, The Italian fries instantly brought me back to my childhood. The U S fries taste like little wooden sticks! Also a big plus fro Italy was you can get your Big Mac with a MCBIRRO!!! After 2 weeks of the local fare, which is wonderful, I really had a taste of America, and Mcdonalds fit the bill! Love the channel!
@@DeltaAssaultGaming the change was made in 1990, long before vegetarianism became as popular as it is today. Pre-covid I watched several channels that traveled to a lot of different countries and always compared our fast food restaurants here vs there. McDonald's always made the list. While they commented sometimes that a menu item or condiment found in both tasted a little different, the biggest difference was menu and condiment options. S And some seemed to offer far more native food than traditional MCD fare. Fascinating stuff. Thank you so much for this and all your fun videos. Love you two.
@@marcogadani2605 My husband started a tradition years ago. Whenever a tourist asks us "do you know where I could find a McDonald?" he replies: "I do, but I'm not gonna tell you" -- and goes on to suggest some nice local place instead
Are you prepping Eva to be on the next Chopped? Loved this video! PS Hawaii has different menu items like Portuguese sausage, egg & rice bowls, Loco Moco and SPAM Musubi...Big Macs and nuggets are the same.
Awesome video guys!! So hilarious--general consensus is McDonald’s SUCKS 🤮 no matter what country you’re in. Although, like Harper, I do like the McRib Sandwich. Thank you for continually coming up with new, original content every week. You don’t know how much I look forward to hanging out with you two! Love from Detroit, Michigan. 🥰😘🥰😘🥰😘
I don't actually hate McDonald's. Their coffee is super good and very affordable and nuggets are a nice snack to enjoy once in a while. It's not a place I'd regularly go to but certain menu options are not bad.
Having recently been on a trip to italy, I can say in my opinion italian mcdonalds is superior to UK mcdonalds. Went 3 or 4 timez during the trip and it was always fresher and nicer, and the crispy mcbacon was the best burger from italian mcdonalds you missed out not trying that one
Harper, you got a good woman that knows what tastes good, and even better knows how to cook very delicious food. Your McRib has nothing to do with ribs, but is a pressed mass of different things you really don't want to know what they are.
Eva has the good taste buds, the McRib is an abomination to BBQ. Haha Come to Texas and have a real rib sandwich. If you do you gotta try the new #1 spot according to Texas Monthly, Goldee's BBQ in Ft Worth, Texas. Saludos from Dallas!
I’m shocked. Every time I’ve had McDonalds outside the US, it has been better than in the US. And the reason there is no McRib in Italy is because Italy has standards, I mean that both in a snobby way and probably in a legal way, depending on what is actually in that “meat”. Great video, as usual.
The difference is not with the standard classic items. The difference is with special menu items. There are differences even State To State within the USA. Here in Hawaii, there is Spam & Portuguese Sausage & Rice available on the breakfast menu. The pies are available in Haupia & Poi flavors. Kona coffee, etc... you get the idea
Every country has their own version of McDonald's. Each country having a specialized menu with popular flavors\foods for that country. Hawaiian mcds has rice spam pasta salad corn. Japan has bagged fried chicken breasts with seasoning packets to shake, teriyaki sandwich, vegetable juice. They all have very similar versions of most classic McDonald's but most countries outside US all people slightly smaller
When I visited my wife's town in Gioisa Ionica, after a day at the beach, we visited a McDonalds there and found beer available, clam fritters, shrimp bites, and some other gourmet items not found here in the States. The burgers and fries tasted the same...
Really enjoy watching your adventures and I've learned a lot from Eva. I'm an American living in the Eoleans off Sicily (Lipari). Not so far really from Eva's home... you should come to the islands on your next visit!
Gotta argree with Harper, the McToast did look like a flat dried pancake but who knew it had ham and cheese inside of it! Here in a new food idea for Eva to try I am sure it’ll top the cake. Spaghetti Pie!😊👍
This is amazing. My jaw dropped when she cut up that burger meat and put the fries in the blender, all to make a gnocchi and ragu alla bolognese. Love that surprise! Oh and Harper singing when he gets to the American McDonald’s ❤️. Definitely something I’d do haha.
In Spain we often have some hamburgers with regionsl ingredients, such as Manchego cheese, chorizo... Usually as temporal/rotation products. Also we have Serrano ham croquettes, "bravioli" style fries (with Spanish hot sauce and aioli) and both Spanish omelette muffin and tomato&oil toast for McBreakfast. Other than that, the main change is they 100% guarantee the meat is from Spanish cows, but I suppose it's the same for every country
Lots of us make McDonalds-themed food at home but much, much better. Big Mac with flat pounded Angus or Kobe beef and a special sauce made with fresh thousand island dressing adding real cheese sauce and eggs. Blend this sauce thoroughly with shredded fresh garden lettuce. The cheese slices can be anything but I prefer Muenster or Havarti. Three layers are the minimum.
I was listening to David Chang's podcast today. He was recently in Italy & at the Rome airport. He said there is a McDonald's on the 2nd floor (he also said the food is amazing all over the airport)

Hawaii has a breakfast option of Spam with white rice, and an egg ( I think).
Ugh, yes! Horrible sweet iced tea in the south, instead of regular, unsweetened (that folks can sweeten themselves if they choose).
@@TruthTroubadour-xi9cc hawaii also has portugese sausage patties.
But why didn't you try the fried olives?
Does Eva cook with olives often? I don’t like them so I haven’t paid attention.
@@FleaChristenson she probably does for their regular meals.
@@FleaChristenson Her Pasta Puttanesca and her Caponata are really good..
McDonald's Menu: *Exists*
Eva: "Let's take it apart and cook it!"
I love this, especially the grand finale. Another great episode.
I once saw an episode of "Emmymade" when she was visiting Japan and the entire episode was about Japan McDonalds' menu items and BOY were they EVER different from North American McDonalds!!
I've had a Japanese McDonalds myself
instantly regretted it
I live in Italy just nearby Sanremo and somehow many years ago (2000/2001) McRib came outta nowhere just for few months. And it was amazing. I can't remember if it cost 2000 Lire (addirittura) or 2 Euro but it was for sure my favorite. I think because of the bbq sauce that was basically unknown in Italy at that time.
Thank you guys and McRib in my heart.
I love Eva’s creativity!!! Bravo Eva!
Ava would win on the "Chopped" competition for sure! 💖
Love you guys! Glad to see you made it home safely! Can’t wait to see some videos especially what you brought back from Italy!
Crispy mcbacon is the best
Agreed
I don't care what these two are talking about. I just like to watch and wait for the discrepancies between their tastes, preferences, and expectations. Their facial expressions and comments are priceless! And the masterpiece that Eva made at the end out of McDonald's food, McGnocchi Bolognese, was fantastic to see! It just goes to show that an Italian like Eva who can cook is able to turn anything into an edible dish even if the ingredients are not optimally edible to begin with. Eva surely improved what she started with. 😁
But there is an expression that says "garbage in, garbage out" that I think applied well to the results of her Mcgnocchi bolognese.
the mctoast is a common item in Brazil...and also common in homes, it is called misto quente and it is wonderful :D
She is so funny. Like a 3 yr old who is afraid to try anything she didnt grow up on in Italy!
I knew you were making potato fried gnocchi lol awesome! I love this channel, you guys are doing awesome.
A lot of teens in particular LOVE it!
I found your channel today by accident and I have to say I LOVE IT!!! You guys are great! Can’t wait to see some more! 😃😃😃😃😃😃
Thank you!
That was an amazing ending!
And of course those quick dried pasta sugo’s like Penne Arrabiata, Spaghetti Albion e Olio, etc.
err that would be "Aglio Olio" ALbion is a name for England LOL
Unfortunately the auto spell correct struck again.
Of all the foods in the world the McRib is definitely in the top 20! You’re so lucky, Eva. Italy eat your heart out!
The McRib was first introduced in 1981....JS...
The McCLT was my favorite. I was sad when they cancelled it. That’s when they were trying to get away from styrofoam.
The McGnocci. I love it!!! 😆😆😆
OMG! I love this video!!! Eva, as usual, is a genius. Who would have thought to do this! And I love the Misen knife plug. I'm not sure I'd ever get one, but it's not like RUclips interruptions that make me want to throw my phone across the room. Excellent video! Loved it.
"its like a *Royal with Cheesee* ?!?!"
I dare you ! I double dare you !! Say it again !!
I live in Austria, so pretty close to Italy but our menu is totally different. Never knew that there is such a difference between countries. But we do have McToast and I love it. I can also confirm that Italian, Austrian and USA french fries taste exactly the same, at least to me.
Loved the Mc gnocchi! That was really funny.
LOL.
Eva’s face for McRibs is classic I feel the same way about it…I’d take Big Mac too but I do stay away from it
ok I'll eat your McRibs, just so you can get rid of it :D am I kind or what?! (no I'm not, I'm simply a McRibs lover) hehehehehehe
The slow close up of the big mac sauce on Eva's face was my favorite part of this video.
I’m old enough to remember the original fries. Next time I’m in Italy I will have to go for the fries!
Fries fried in BEEF FAT!!!! That’s awesome!!!! Bet it’s so good!
I think they switched off the beef fat because vegetarians complained about it, actually
@@DeltaAssaultGaming the change was made in 1990, long before vegetarianism became as popular as it is today. The change was made under pressure from those who thought the cholesterol in beef tallow is a health hazard. Ironically, McDonalds mogul Ray Kroc was more interested in the fries than in the hamburgers when he acquired McDonalds.
Evreytime I see one of our videos i guess wheter I like the most: Evas hair (really, Im in love with It. As a straight-hair redhead, I love that curly-wavy black hair!!!!!) or your videos.
I guess I love both equally (but Evas hair has my heart hahahaha)
Pre-covid I watched several channels that traveled to a lot of different countries and always compared our fast food restaurants here vs there. McDonald's always made the list.
While they commented sometimes that a menu item or condiment found in both tasted a little different, the biggest difference was menu and condiment options. S
And some seemed to offer far more native food than traditional MCD fare.
Fascinating stuff.
Thank you so much for this and all your fun videos. Love you two.
Ciao, you always manage to make me laugh with your humor.
Eva the passionate Italian
Harper gently stirring
Perfect❤️❤️❤️
Cheers from New Zealand 😎
With this video I discovered the real pronunciation: MEDDANOL! And I, who have always called him MERDONALD...
LOL! I think Merdonald is the most common way to name it in Italy. 🤣🤣🤣
@@marcogadani2605 My husband started a tradition years ago. Whenever a tourist asks us "do you know where I could find a McDonald?" he replies: "I do, but I'm not gonna tell you" -- and goes on to suggest some nice local place instead
I'm surprised u didn't try the fried olives. I made some for my husband and we loved them! Plus I agree with Harper and McRib is awesome!
Your hair is absolutely gorgeous✨‼️
Haha! The Mcdonalds Bolognese and gnocchi was brilliant, but had my stomach turning at the thought
You went to McD 3 or 4 times while in ITALY.....?
@@dijonmayo 😂 it was a month long trip with alot of train journeys so was just something to grab quickly that was always near train stations
Guys that was a awesome video! I enjoyed so much I was just laughing with you guys! Keep up the great job!!!!!
poor Eva, her head is like being tortured during a tasting. 😂
I love that Eva shows up Harper
Actually the mctoast is not made of two dried pancakes, it’s made of two hamburger buns grilled upside down… I think it’s genious 😂
You should also have tasted Crispy McBacon, we only have that in Italy
Harper, you got a good woman that knows what tastes good, and even better knows how to cook very delicious food. Your McRib has nothing to do with ribs, but is a pressed mass of different things you really don't want to know what they are.
As a Canadian, I wholeheartedly appreciate Eva's dismissal of the Euro-'poutine' as illegitimate.
Just look up the difference between USA McDonald’s and Italy or uk ingredients you will be shocked 😱 love you 2 🥰
Eva has the good taste buds, the McRib is an abomination to BBQ. Haha Come to Texas and have a real rib sandwich. If you do you gotta try the new #1 spot according to Texas Monthly, Goldee's BBQ in Ft Worth, Texas. Saludos from Dallas!
The McRib is Fo Qu in Illinois . Thank God for Texas BBQ
i've never seen MacDonald food repurposed this great before!
specially the french fry one!
WOW!
Whether in Italy, USA ... or anywhere in the world, just skip the McDonalds and choose instead a local diner.
No thank you
That’s missing the point of this video.
Who told you that? In all the countries I've been to, it's generally the opposite
Harperrrrrr!!!!!! The fries are what I was waiting for !!!!!
I was very curious about the fried olives!? Eva your hair is SO BEAUTIFUL😍!! Great video!
I love this channel because of what Ava can do with food. I love the new creations Ava. 👍🏼
I haven't laughed so much in a long time..excellent video...P.S. nice hair cut Harper!
I love when they laugh together at the end looking at each other ❤😂😂😂 They are the cutest ❤
Eva looks just like my mom when she was younger and a lot like my sister. We love her! ❤
Just love Eva’s expressions…she’s priceless! 😘❤️
I was listening to David Chang's podcast today. He was recently in Italy & at the Rome airport. He said there is a McDonald's on the 2nd floor (he also said the food is amazing all over the airport)
FYI - the McDonald's at Valencia and Nexus has different menu options than the one on Houghton (if you're ever interested).
