I have a Refreshed 2022 Silverado 1500 RST. I installed this recently on my truck and maybe can help someone out there who may have some questions on this install with the same truck. Firstly I installed it on the actual hood of the truck in front of the weather strip(just my preference). You cannot see the light at all from installing it in this location(tape the light itself almost dead even to slightly proud of the edge of the hood). I ran the wires through the hood and grounded it to the negative battery terminal with a crimped electrical eyelet. The positive(red/hot wire) I ran to the engine fuse panel and used a fuse tap into fuse #28 (Park Lamp Mirror/Grill) using a micro2 5 amp fuse. The light draws about 2 amps so you don't need anything above 5 amps. When installing the fuse tap(install factory fuse on the bottom then the new fuse where the wire is part is) pay attention to the way you pull out the fuse from the panel, you will want to install the new fuse tap in the same direction. The orientation does matter so the spades should all be following in the correct direction.(watch a fuse tap video if you are unclear of what I mean.) It can potentially cause electrical issues if you do not have this orientation correct even though it will "work" either way you put it in. Those of you who have this truck know that when you hit the unlock button there is factory dynamic light show with the blinkers. When using fuse #28 the led light strip WILL activate as well when you unlock the doors in-sync with the front blinkers. When the head lights are on at night the LED light will do its automation when the truck is started and stay illuminated until you shut the truck off. Hope this helps!

I watched a number of similar videos and yours is definitely my favorite. But for some reason nobody covers the little issue I had of not being able to close the fuse box cover with a wire sticking out from the fuse tap. I had to cut a notch in the lid for the wire with a Dremel so I could close it. Maybe this was obvious to others but I had to get over my OCD reluctance to "damage" anything on my new car. I reasoned "it's just a lid, who cares" :-)
I was able to get that nice animation on start up by fuse tapn my parking light fuse. It may get annoying seeing it every time you open/close doors but it doesn’t stay on the whole time and when you remote start it the lights are nice
I would just pull the edges off the headlights and leave it attached on the grill! I have some 3m double sided tape id use to re-attach everything when i put it back together!
I don't know how but I've never taken off my grill to replace a headlamp on my headlights (RAM 1500) I can take off the whole assembly somehow without taking that big grill off
Thanks for this! I watched this video wondering if it would be too challenging for me to install and I'm thinking no. I just need to get the fuse caps. Thank you!
I just have a question please so if you using the fuse tap does the fuse have to be the same number as the one your stealing from ? And what fuse would you recommend you hook the tap up to exactly cause I’m trying but have no clue what to do fr
No we are just piggybacking power when we are using a fuse tap. If your light came with an inline fuse already, that should mean that the light is technically already protected, therefore whatever fuse you use to power the light doesn’t matter too much. I would put in a lower fuse though if you have it, 2 or 5 maybe since it doesn’t draw a lot of power. Tap into one that isn’t crucial for your vehicle to operate in case anything happens. I used my “seat heater” slot, even though my truck doesn’t have seat heaters, it still has a fuse for them in the box, so find a slot that only has power when your vehicle is running and that will make it turn on and off with your vehicle, hope that helps!
@@DakotaNationRacing yessssssss thank you so much and I had order a fuse tap from AliExpress and it came with a 10 fuse so I’ll be better off buying a lower one and using tht instead with it ?
If your light already has an inline fuse then it should technically be protected already and a 10 is a bit high but should still work. If your light doesn’t already have a fuse in line then i would maybe go try and find a 2 or 5 that’ll work from your local auto parts store
Great video, precise and straight to the point! Would it better to attach the red wire to the day time running light fuse or just any fuse that has no power when the car is off? What about the Amp? Dose it matter since the fuse tap is 5 Amp? Do you need to find a fuse (no power when car is off) that is only 5 Amp or any Amp is ok? thanks. Subscribed and thumbs up
You can run it to your DRL fuse if you would like, any amp should be fine, if you bought the same one as me its already protected with an inline fuse so you don’t need to find a fuse that is only 5 amp!
The cable is pretty thin, on the few trucks I’ve installed them on it hasn’t been an issue. Try and look up a video of someone installing it on your vehicle and see what they did. Different vehicles will have different tolerances obviously sorry, hope that helps!
I may sound dumb right now but is there a certain type of fuse that is better. Like what size of fuse I guess is what I am asking. Thank you so much for a simple video explaining all the steps.
Haha there are no dumb questions! Basically the higher the number on the fuse, the more current it takes to “pop”. If you ordered a light strip that already comes with an inline fuse (like mine in the video) then it is technically already protected. So the fuse that you put in your fuse tap shouldn’t really matter in this case, however to be safe i would throw a low fuse in there maybe like a 5 if you have one! Also make sure you tap into a fuse slot that isn’t necessary for your vehicle to run and drive, in case of an emergency you don’t want to get stranded because you tapped into an “important” fuse and it popped, hope this helps!
That is perfect. Thank you so much for the help. Yes mine has the fuse protector basically think it’s the same one as in your video. I will hopefully get it all sorted this weekend. Take care and thanks again
So my car uses micro fuses and some extras but no 5amp. For the ACC slot it has a 10amp. Should I still get a 5amp for these lights or use one of the 10amp extras? And yesi was going to use the ACC fuse slot. Thanks for letting me ask cause not trying to mess my car up. 2023 Kia sportage 😀
For dodge charger 2022 I notice when I close the hood it’ll not close all the way is there a solution that your aware of anyone 😢 plus the circuit thing is definitely nice to know thx🎉
Great video! Just one question. I purchased the one that would work with turn signals as well. Any video or advice on how to connect those wires to work when turn signal is on? Thank You in advance.
Thanks! I haven’t installed that style yet but i’m guessing you’ll just need a couple wire taps. Find out where your turn signal wires are and wire tap them to the wires on the strip light, hope that helps!
Use a fuse that only has power when the truck is on, like a seat heater or something like that. Pick something thats not critical to your vehicle running, just in case something weird happens
Sorry I don’t have that car so i’m not exactly sure. You can always take it to your local stereo shop and they can help you out wiring it up, finding a good wire to tap into under the hood even, hope that helps!
In regards to putting the fuses in the fuse tap, if the original is 20 that goes on the bottom of the tap, then do you put another 20 on top of the original 20?
Sorry i don’t quite follow. You don’t have to match fuses if thats what you are asking, the fuse you want to use for that little light will be lower than 20, you’ll want like a 2,3 or 5 max since that guys doesn’t draw barely any power. Your light should already have an inline fuse so that secondary fuse is just a 2nd layer of security in theory, hope this helps!
@ Thank you. So basically, the secondary fuse that goes on top of the fuse tap doesn’t have to match the original fuse that goes on the bottom of the tap. So the secondary fuse can be any amount that’s less than the original fuse?
If you bought the same strip light i did, you should already have an inline fuse for the light, if thats the case, the light doesn’t draw very much power so you can throw a small fuse in there like a 5 maybe! Again it should already be protected with the inline fuse on the light strip!
Great video just one question which fuse do u choose to use or how do u determine among the fuse inside the fuse box is there a specific one and how many amps
Choose one thats not vital to the vehicle running, i used my seat heater slot (even though my truck doesn’t have seat heaters in it). You want a slot that only gets power when the vehicle is running or your light will be on all the time. The strip light should already by protected by the inline fuse that comes with it, so just use a low amp fuse like a 5 if you got one
Mannn thank you so much for braking it down the way you did!! What a great way to explain this! For sure I will let you know when I get my lights thank you very much! You have a new subscriber here
Appreciate the video, can yourself or anyone else help me out please , I've fitted the scan light and it comes on with my cars lights (auto lights) when using the fob to unlock, which is what I wanted , I also wanted them to stay on with my lights when I start the engine but it goes off once the engine starts ????
Hmm not sure, sounds like it’s only getting power on the unlock obviously, not sure what fuse tap you have it wired up to or if you tapped straight into a wire. If its wired to your lights, have you tried to manually turn your lights on and see if it is working when the rest of the lights are on?
With installing it on that top lip, does it make it harder to open to hood of the truck? I think it projects the most light from that location, but I'm worried about functionality going forward and opening the hood. How does it do with that?
I haven’t tried it for myself but i’ve heard of people doing that, I know on some trucks there is a weatherstrip seal right on the hood so without removing that you wouldn’t be able to mount it on the hood, sorry wish i could help more!
Great, simple instructions. So for the tap, after I remove the fuse where I'm stealing power and place at the bottom, is there a fuse that goes at the top OR leave it empty?
Thanks! Make sure you put a fuse in the top slot (top goes to your light). If you bought the fuse taps i have in the description it should have extra fuses for you to use!
Nope it doesn’t have to be the same, i think i just threw a 20 in mine if i remember correctly. Since the light already has that inline fuse, it should already be protected, so the fuse on the fuse tap is just double protection or “extra”
How many amps does the light itself draw? If pulled a 15 amp do I have to put (2) 15 amp fuses in or can let’s say for conversation put 5 amp for the light?
Sorry, I'm not sure how many amps the light draws! but you don't have to use a 15 in your light slot just because you are using a 15 in the slot you are pulling power from, hope that helps!@@NiteTrainATL
I just tapped into my “seat heater” fuse, if your strip light already comes with an in line fuse it should technically be protected by that. So just use a small fuse like a 2-5 should be fine!
Hi. I installed mine and it is coming on but stays on, it wont turn off when I switch the engine off. Its just "on" constantly. I have red wire in 10amp fuse in fuse box and black wire grounded. Are they supposed to be connected to the lights or something?
Sounds like you found a fuse that has power all the time, you want to look for a fuse thats only on when the key is on, BUT not important for the vehicle to run in case you have an issue, for mine i used the seat heater fuse even though my truck isn’t equipped with them. It doesn’t have to be tied into the lights. Try finding a different fuse and let me know if that works!
I tried to follow your instructions but when it came to the fuse box, none of my fuses were an acc fuse, I tested all of them and they were all hot, so what am I missing or is there another spot where I can get power? My vehicle is a 2007 Honda accord hybrid.
Did you have the key on when you were testing? There should be some ACC for you to pull from that only would be on when the cars on. Unfortunately im not familiar with the accord platform, you might have to do a little research to find the correct fuse to pull from! Many vehicles have more than one fuse box, sorry I don’t have a solution but hope that helps!
if I'm tapping to a 15amp fuse, what fuse would I use for the top slot? 15amp is the only size that fits. also, I can't seem to get a snug fit while using the fuse adapter and the LED lights are very dull....any help is appreciated.
You can use like a 5amp for the top, the light should already have an fuse built into it. You might just have the wrong size? I didn’t have any trouble with the fitment, everything was tight for me, maybe try a different fuse slot! Also I haven’t heard anyone having any problems with dull lights, you might’ve got a bad light from the factory
Added this to my 2011 tahoe however the surface isnt flash all the way around like your dodge so it peaks out alittle. Not as bright as i thought either
I received my lights today... my question is what is the size of fuse do I use for the fuse tap? 5, 10, 15, 20?? Because I really don't want to blow any fuses....PLEASE respond...
Your light should have an in line fuse, so on the fuse tap you can throw in basically whatever one you want since it’s already protected down the line. LED’s don’t pull much juice at all anyways but i just have a 20 in there now but it doesn’t need that big of one really!
so i recently bought a product from hoodflare, but it doesnt come with thag inline fuse u said, it just has exposed cables at the end. any help as to how i can connect it?
With no inline fuse you'll need to add your own fuse. He has links to fuses and fuse taps in the description. He also shows how to use both products at the end of the vid
Yes^ Without an inline fuse yes you’ll want to make certain you use a fuse tap with the correct fuse for your application so you don’t have any issues!
Hey loved the vid but newbie here still a bit confused on the fuse box install, the strip I bought says it’s a 12V and when I look up the fuse box amps for my 2015 Honda Accord Hybrid the DRL is a 7.5A so do I just plug the piggy back into the DRL port and put the old plug into the bottom of the piggy back and tie the wires together and it would work? It’s okay that the DRL is 7.5A and not 12? would rly appreciate your help thank you in advance!
Im not familiar with hondas but it sounds like you may just be mixing up voltage vs. amps? When the light strip says its a 12v, that just means its for a 12v system, like cars and trucks, etc. The 7.5A that your stock DRL’s say is just how much it takes to power those specifically. As long as you use the fuse tap on an accessory slot in your fuse box you should be good to go! Its hard to explain over text, not sure if i made it more confusing or not but hopefully that helps!😂 It honestly might be easier to just go to your local stereo shop and have them help you out or explain it better!
I installed an orange one to match my clearance and mirror lights on my Ram. Told by an officer that the hood light is "not legal" to have as they are not DOT approved. 🙄Another great reason to be pulled over in VA. Have read of many people having issues with the light strip failing. When it does plan to go to single orange lights in grill like the Raptors have.
Thats frustrating! Those lights don’t project a ton of light out, so you would think if people could just see you better it would be better?🧐 i do like the raptor or TRX amber look though!
What was your center on your RAM? I have a 2018 RAM. Where did you measure from on your truck? The other thing is what size of lights did you get? 59 inches, 70? One more thing, what fuse did you use for the top fuse tap? Thanks 👍
Ill have to go measure my center, I can’t remember off the top of my head. I got the 70” light and i ended up tapping into the “seat heater fuse” (even though my truck didn’t come with headed seats its still an option in the box) hope that helps!
@@DakotaNationRacing Alright good! So that's where I would want to then? I don't have them either. But, as far as the lights go, do the 70"? I'm very picky on how I want my truck to look. I don't want wires & stuff all over the place. I have a 2018 & it looks as good as the day picked it up at the dealership. I do appreciate you reaching out!👍. Semper Fi
Not gonna lie, that looked sick as hell. I actually really like that. I did have grille lights on my front grille on my Silverado, they were a separate piece of plastic that came down the sides on the inside and across the bottom like 1/4 of the way through and I cut the sealant they used off like some kind of silicone or something and I took the white lights they had in them and replaced them with some other RGB led strips I bought off Amazon that were meant for the eyebrow lights and the had a switch back function too. I put it all back together and sealed them again myself, which I thought I 100% sealed them back, here in Florida we had a nasty week of rain and somehow rain got into the plastic housings and friend the LED strips because the strips I used came in the same rubber covering but I had to take them out to fit in those pieces for the grille. So now I’m on attempt 2 with different LED’s but actually might not use them after seeing this, what I might do is get 2 of these strips and make a whole outline around my grille, maybe take some of my green vinyl tint and wrap them in it so it gives off a green tint instead but hella sick. I totally dig it.
You have to hook these up to a fuse in your fuse box, not sure where your vehicles fuse box is located you might need to do some online research if you can’t find it, for the negative wire it can just go to a ground on the vehicle, it doesn’t need to go to the negative pole on the battery
Thank you for this video. I’m a bit confused on the fuse tap. Does the light wire go in the tail or do I create a fuse for it? Also what is the name of the song in your video?
i have mercedes ben glb 180 . could you please tell me which Fuse should I remove and I bought also fuses and the cable . which one should I remove and should I insert
My question is since you hooked it up to a power source when you turn the key on.. Since you didn't hooked them up to a power source that's on only when you turn your lights on..There on all the time if you have your lights on or not?. You would think you would want them on only when you turn your lights on..
The way i wired them up, i wanted them to be a like a daytime running light, so on all the time whenever the truck is on! There are obviously ways to get them to only turn on with your other lights, it was just my preference to have them on whenever the truck is running!
@@DakotaNationRacing How do you know what fuse to use. I want ine to work like yours. My ram is a 2019 Big horn. looks didd then yours,.I bouht the wire taps that you have, the fuses that came with the set are not small enough and the wire taps do not seem to work either. TY
@@26steiger The fuse taps set I provided a link to should have all the styles you would need! There are a few that look similar so make sure you are grabbing the right one. How you pick what fuse is find one that's not important for the vehicle to run on AND one that only has power when the key is on, the one I went with was the "seat heater" fuse slot (even though I don't have seat heaters on my truck). Try that out and hopefully that helps! If you can't get it, then go to your local stereo shop and have them install it for ya!
Great video! Thanks as always for your content! Quick question... How bright are they during daylight? I have halogen DRLs and would like to add a more modern look to my vehicle. Thanka again!
Thank you! The strip light is just like a DRL as well, you can see it during the day decently well depending how bright it is and obviously brighter at night. They are just meant to give your vehicle a different look, they dont project enough light for you to drive with like a headlight does, it’s strictly for looks but i like how they look!🤘🏼
ruclips.net/video/49tkLsFwwaI/видео.htmlsi=_nsgqjuMIkayw81q Here’s a video on how i did my exhaust! Its just a muffler delete so its really cheap, i added a 3”-5” exhaust tip as well!
Hey bud i have question say i only need a small for piece for my hood vent which is like 16 inches or so can i use what i cut off and rewire it all together or once i cut the led its no good? I think i have enough to do my hood?
Mine was running great for months! I recently removed it to give the truck a different look and have some other plans in mind for a new grille and front bumper setup! As with most things, people have had problems with those style of lights but for the most part i’ve heard positive things.
That last bit with the fuse tap: you put the fuse you took out of the fuse box in the bottom slot on the tap, do you have to add something to the top slot on the tap or does it still provide power to the wire?
Yes! Don’t do that, could possibly cause electrical problems, burn things up or could even cause a fire. I don’t like to mess around when it comes to electrical! Some people even look down on fuse taps saying they are the lazy way to do things.
what about the factory weather strip thats right at the edge of the hood? will the light still show or does the weather strip cover it up once the hood is closed??
You should be able to pick one up at your local auto parts store! I don’t remember what size i ended up using (it depends on where you are connecting it) but i can check after work today.
Sure! I would just not put your fuse tap on something important for running the vehicle, you dont want to get stranded in a worst case scenario! But the radio should be fine, as long as the light turns on and off as you like👍🏼
@@DakotaNationRacing hey thanks for replying the radio fuse tap didn’t work the lights stayed on, not sure how to do this now, any suggestions? The vehicle is a 2017 Camry I’d be grateful for any assistance u can lend.
I used my “seat heater” fuse tap, even though my truck doesn’t have those, it still comes with the fuse and slot, so try out another one like that until you find one that works like you want!
Good question! I’ve personally never had a bug shield so im not to sure how much gap is left once you install one, it might depend on the style of bug shield you got, I would think as long as you still got some gap there, light will make it through, sorry, wish i could be more help!
I have I guess OEM deflector you can get at the dealership. It’s the one that goes just on top of grill. There is some gap so I’m assuming it should be ok. I like the way it looks and it’s not expensive at all. Great idea. Thank you!
In person are you able to see each individual LED or does it actually diffuse and make it look like one light? I know on camera it looks really nice and diffused and like one light but I've seen some of these things in person and oftentimes the cheaply made ones you can see each individual LED in person
It actually looks like one light! Unless you stand up real close and look for individual LED’s, you won’t notice. I’ve never noticed it but i just went and looked and im still happy with it for sure!
Does anyone know of a hood led strip with the dynamic start up that allows you to change the start up color? I have only seen ones with white as the start up color.
Yoooooooo. Very nice video... wanted to know if i had 2 strips, can i merge the wires together to get the same power source at the same time? Or use separate power source for each strip?
Finally! An installation video that actually shows and discusses how to mess with the fuse box to light these up! Thank you!
Glad to help!🙏🏼

How did you go with closing the bonnet ? Did it interfere with the latch. I’ve got a ford Everest sport 2020 and am wondering if it’ll be a problem
Sorry i should say “bonnet trying to relatch because of the thickness of the cable”
10 should be fine! It should technically be protected by the inline fuse already on there
For dodge charger 2022 I notice when I close the hood it’ll not close all the way is there a solution that your aware of anyone 😢 plus the circuit thing is definitely nice to know thx🎉
Great video! Just one question. I purchased the one that would work with turn signals as well. Any video or advice on how to connect those wires to work when turn signal is on? Thank
You in advance.
Thanks! I haven’t installed that style yet but i’m guessing you’ll just need a couple wire taps. Find out where your turn signal wires are and wire tap them to the wires on the strip light, hope that helps!
So i want to intall grill lights using fuse tap so what fuse shoukd i use
I understand fuse that has power only when truck is on
Use a fuse that only has power when the truck is on, like a seat heater or something like that. Pick something thats not critical to your vehicle running, just in case something weird happens
Does this work with the indicators. Left and right indicators
I think they make some strip lights that will but this specific one doesn’t do that!
I have a Mazda 3 2009, the ACC fuses are on the inside, can you tell me which fuse I can safely tap into in the engine compartment. Thanks
My question is what size fuse (amp) do I need in the upper slot of the tap in order for the led lights to work?
Thanks!
Excellent instructions and explanations about electrical wiring. Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Mannn thank you so much for braking it down the way you did!! What a great way to explain this! For sure I will let you know when I get my lights thank you very much! You have a new subscriber here
Thank you I very much appreciate it!!
I bought these and idk which fuse to use. Can you let us know which number of fuse we can use with the fuse taps?
Use a fuse on your fuse tap that matches your inline fuse
Appreciate the video, can yourself or anyone else help me out please , I've fitted the scan light and it comes on with my cars lights (auto lights) when using the fob to unlock, which is what I wanted , I also wanted them to stay on with my lights when I start the engine but it goes off once the engine starts ????
Hmm not sure, sounds like it’s only getting power on the unlock obviously, not sure what fuse tap you have it wired up to or if you tapped straight into a wire. If its wired to your lights, have you tried to manually turn your lights on and see if it is working when the rest of the lights are on?
Great video I just have one question what do you do with the negative wire when you have the fuse tap ?
The negative goes to the negative post on your battery
Clear, concise instructions. Good job sir
Thank you for watching!🙏🏼
Is there a video with how you ziptied your wires to be out of the way?
Sorry i didn’t cover that part, just bundle them up and ziptie them up out of the way wherever you think would be best!
Ty very much on highly recommending fuse taps, as it's not mentioned in the product ad or item box received. 😮
Glad to help!
What size fuse do u recommend for 4 of them? I have the same truck but I think I might wire into parking light fuse if that’s a possibility?
If you have the type of light that has an inline fuse, you should technically be protected there, so maybe just a 5-10 would be ok?
Great, simple instructions. So for the tap, after I remove the fuse where I'm stealing power and place at the bottom, is there a fuse that goes at the top OR leave it empty?
Thanks! Make sure you put a fuse in the top slot (top goes to your light). If you bought the fuse taps i have in the description it should have extra fuses for you to use!
@@DakotaNationRacing Yes I ordered the ones u mentioned but it doesn't have a 15a. Does it have to be the same fuse amp size?
That is really impressive, and it's easy to learn how to install it by my self.
Thanks for you video bro👍
Thanks for watching!🤙🏼
Hi, what number fuse is that you are tapping into or what fuse is that you are using? thx.
I just tapped into my “seat heater” fuse, if your strip light already comes with an in line fuse it should technically be protected by that. So just use a small fuse like a 2-5 should be fine!
What if you have to manually turn your headlights on and want the led strip to only light up with the headlights?
You can tap into your headlight wire and then they will only be on with your headlights!
What do I need to search for the type of eyelet you're using? Everything I am finding is different.
You can use all kinds of different styles but if you look up “spade terminals” online, that’ll point you in the similar direction
Added this to my 2011 tahoe however the surface isnt flash all the way around like your dodge so it peaks out alittle. Not as bright as i thought either
Sorry to hear that! Ya its for sure just for looks, it doesn’t put off a ton of light
Ok....thanks so much...
Do you have an in line fuse in your light?
so i recently bought a product from hoodflare, but it doesnt come with thag inline fuse u said, it just has exposed cables at the end. any help as to how i can connect it?
Many vehicles have illuminated badges on the grille. This seems like the same, simply an alternative. Some cops have nothing better to do.
Where did you find an orange one?
@dmaxxd94 found it on Amazon, mine failed several months back. Looked good though while it lasted.
think i just keep missing it, but did you say what length you got?
No worries, i got the 70” one!
That sounds like a cool idea, let me know how that works if you end up goin that route!🤘🏼
Front of car, with acumulator i dont have fuse box and what can i do with negative pole
You have to hook these up to a fuse in your fuse box, not sure where your vehicles fuse box is located you might need to do some online research if you can’t find it, for the negative wire it can just go to a ground on the vehicle, it doesn’t need to go to the negative pole on the battery
@@DakotaNationRacing can i connect negative wire to low beam
Unfortunately no
Thanks very much for a very easy and simple way to install these lights.
Happy to help!🤘🏼
This is helpful if your fuse happens to be under the hood. What about when the fuse box isn’t there?
You might have to tap into a wire up towards the front of your vehicle!
One year later, how is it holding up?
I only ran it for maybe 6 months or so before removing it to change up the look of the truck, it was working great though even when removed!
@@DakotaNationRacing thanks for responding! What did you do after removing the LEDs?
I think the next 2 things ended up being some 7”grille light pods and then a newer grille after that!
How to install for Toyota Highlander 2018? Please 🙏🙏
If i had one id make a video! Should be the same idea, just go to a local stereo shop and see what they’d charge you to install!
Will the ground work with out the eyelet
No
Thanks for the tutorial!!!
Much love from Texas bro
Thanks for watchin!!🤘🏼
Thank you for this video. I’m a bit confused on the fuse tap. Does the light wire go in the tail or do I create a fuse for it?
Also what is the name of the song in your video?
Yes you crimp the positive light wire into the tail of the fuse tap! The name of the song is: Bender by Dylan Sitts
i have mercedes ben glb 180 . could you please tell me which Fuse should I remove and I bought also fuses and the cable . which one should I remove and should I insert
Saw a different video earlier labeled "simple" but he made it complicated. This was so much better. The brown step side looks sweet btw!
Appreciate it, glad it helped!🙏🏼 the rusty truck will be back at the racetrack here shortly!
@@DakotaNationRacing Thank you so much. Can I use a spare were there isn't any fuse. I will put in a 10 amp. thoughts,
Great video!
Hey quick question, I really liked the sound of your exhaust, what kind of exhaust system you got in your ram?
ruclips.net/video/49tkLsFwwaI/видео.htmlsi=_nsgqjuMIkayw81q
Here’s a video on how i did my exhaust! Its just a muffler delete so its really cheap, i added a 3”-5” exhaust tip as well!
We i used multiple fuse tap in one fuse
Hey bud i have question say i only need a small for piece for my hood vent which is like 16 inches or so can i use what i cut off and rewire it all together or once i cut the led its no good? I think i have enough to do my hood?
I wish! You cant cut these lights, I haven’t looked for one but maybe there a kind out there that you can!
Can you wire this so it comes on when u unlock your car with fob
Some people said they were able to wire into the headlights since they typically come on when you unlock the truck but I personally haven’t tried it!
i have a ram 1500 too and i need the numbers of the fuses you used plz
I just used the seat heater fuse! Cant remember what the number was exactly, ill have to go take a look
Can we get an update on durability? Are they still running?
Mine was running great for months! I recently removed it to give the truck a different look and have some other plans in mind for a new grille and front bumper setup! As with most things, people have had problems with those style of lights but for the most part i’ve heard positive things.
That last bit with the fuse tap: you put the fuse you took out of the fuse box in the bottom slot on the tap, do you have to add something to the top slot on the tap or does it still provide power to the wire?
Yes your top slot needs to have a fuse to power your light, if you leave it empty then your light wont work
Thanks!@@DakotaNationRacing
Is there a real problem if we don’t use the fuse caps just the cable direct to the fuse?
Yes! Don’t do that, could possibly cause electrical problems, burn things up or could even cause a fire. I don’t like to mess around when it comes to electrical! Some people even look down on fuse taps saying they are the lazy way to do things.
The Red wire should be on ACC fuse?
Yes, just meaning that power only goes to that fuse when the key is on!
what about the factory weather strip thats right at the edge of the hood? will the light still show or does the weather strip cover it up once the hood is closed??
I just installed it on my 2015 1500 and the weather strip does cover it up.
what is the lenght of the led strip would you recommend for a ram 1500 - crewcab. awesome video by the way - just subscribed.
My truck is a 1500 crew cab as well and i got the 70”, i appreciate the support!!🤙🏼
Do you have a link for the ground wire eyelet or can you pick that up at any auto parts store? Is there a specific size I would need?
You should be able to pick one up at your local auto parts store! I don’t remember what size i ended up using (it depends on where you are connecting it) but i can check after work today.
Attaching to the negative side of the battery and I placed a fuse tap into the fuse that operates the radio...is that good?
I used my “seat heater” fuse tap, even though my truck doesn’t have those, it still comes with the fuse and slot, so try out another one like that until you find one that works like you want!
so what happens when you have to replace the headlights don't you have to remove the grill to replace the head lights?
Yes, I’ve already removed the grill a few times, I just use double sided tape!
What size fuse should I use for the fuse tap?
If your strip light has an in line fuse already, it should be protected by that. So id use a small one, like a 2-5 should be fine
Would it work with a bug deflector? Is it going to be as bright or it might act the same as if you used a black electric tape?
Good question! I’ve personally never had a bug shield so im not to sure how much gap is left once you install one, it might depend on the style of bug shield you got, I would think as long as you still got some gap there, light will make it through, sorry, wish i could be more help!
I have I guess OEM deflector you can get at the dealership. It’s the one that goes just on top of grill.
There is some gap so I’m assuming it should be ok.
I like the way it looks and it’s not expensive at all. Great idea.
Thank you!
The best video on the subject!
Thanks for watching!🤙🏼
Can you make a video on installing it to a 2021 toyota corolla le
If i had that car i would! Should be the same idea for each vehicle though as far as the install goes!
@@DakotaNationRacing awesome thank you
What headlights do you have? Thanks in advance.
The housings came with the truck, so im not sure of that! But if you are asking about the bulbs they are these: amzn.to/3D5WjBT
What fuse did you tap into? Asking for a friend 😅
Used my “seat heater” slot, even though my truck didnt have seat heaters you still get the slot
Is this turn on in the morning??? As a running day light??
Whenever the truck is on, the light is on so yes its like a DRL!
Do these stay on with lights off ?
No, you’ll drain your battery if they are on all the time
Does anyone know of a hood led strip with the dynamic start up that allows you to change the start up color? I have only seen ones with white as the start up color.
Unfortunately, i haven’t seen anything like that, would be a cool setup though!
Yoooooooo. Very nice video... wanted to know if i had 2 strips, can i merge the wires together to get the same power source at the same time? Or use separate power source for each strip?
Im not sure! You’d have to just try it out, i haven’t tried it!
Ok. Thanks !
I tried using that same fuse tap but I did not use Two fuses. Do I need to use two fuses when adding that adapter?
You need to use both fuses to complete the circuits, otherwise you wont have power!
And that means the lights are on unless turned off manually, nice.
