  • In textbooks and websites centered around the civil rights movement, seldom is the Children’s March of Birmingham mentioned. But The Children’s March was an influential shift in the civil rights movement, which altered
race relations and inspired children across the nation to fight for their rights. The violence that occurred from May 2nd to May 10th of 1963 was recorded and photographed to demonstrate the inhumane conditions of the South. After American citizens watched the extreme brutality, they began to pursue the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The undying efforts of the young protesters allowed other children to understand their capability to create an impact, big or small.
