It is a shame this genre of movies isnt made very often. It is probably my favorite type of movies. I have recently been watching these adventure movies. The most recent new movie was Jungle Cruise. It was not as good as Pirates of the Caribbean but a fun watch. Some others I watched recently were the Journey to the Center of the Earth series and the Scorpion King. The Mummy series is probably the next i will rewatch.
I really like that, although they're not exactly the good guys, the movie doesn't make them evil or scumbags just for the sake of it. You really feel that they become afraid for their lives when they hear about the curse, and it's also a little sad the way they hang on to O'Connell to survive.
I LOVE Brendan Fraser and I watch The Mummy regularly to this day. There are very few movies I've seen dozens of times that can make me smile like that.
I loved this back when it came out (I was about 14) and I have watched it several times since then as it is an easy movie to watch and enjoy. I've watched it with my kids (9 and 12) and they loved it too. We got to it after watching the Indiana Jones Trilogy and they liked The Mummy just as much as the Indy movies. All those films have aged extremely well.
I wasn't even looking at the screen when he said "good bye benny" and I had it perfectly burned into my mind and couldn't stop a small chuckle, god this movie is so good, I miss writing like this this is why I moved to anime for moments like this where the characters are not just a character but living breathing people who act like it.
One of my favourite movies as a teenager - still stands up today. In fact, having today watched the trailer for the Uncharted movie, and then this video, I wonder whether The Mummy might just be the Uncharted we all want!
I introduced this movie (my favorite movie of all time!!) to my nephew earlier this year, and he tried to resist it's charm, but failed epically. His jaw was hanging and he kept asking how everything was happening, which was great because this movie came out over two decades ago
The Mummy was so good, the VHS included a little introduction for Pathé films done by Eddie Izzard in their inimitable style, which was as worth watching as the movie :)

the cgi tintin film also kinda feels like a spiritual successor to the Indiana jones, even though the source material is older I still get that feeling
Yes I do like these movies, well at least the first two, that third one when they went to China that needs to be put into a incinerator. But I like in the first two that blend of action and comedy.
@Big Fat Liar. you asked me do I want a fourth movie and I told you as long as it isn't the disaster that Tom Cruise's Mummy was. Or the 3rd mummy movie when they were in China. That one was straight garbage.
This is a REAL dungeons and dragons roleplayer movie. Just take the scene where they run and we see they forgot the locket/key, my friends and I were groaning when we saw it, and thinking oh now we need 30 minutes or more watching them trying to get it back, but nope, like a good roleplayer he remembered and just went back to get it. Such a great movie to watch if you are a good ol pen and paper style D&D player, you can almost hear the dice roll with every action they take
I love the 2 Mummy movies from the 90s. Sadly when Rachel Weisz did not return for the third movie the franchise died. But everything has a silver lining, since then Ms Weisz has given us excellent performances as a dramatic actor in many films. Watch her in The Favourite, playing a meanie, she's fantastic.
Yeah If I remember right There was this one scene where the people were possessed and the One guy was panicking on how he could escape the people who were "Brainwashed"/Possessed/Mind Controlled (super naturally ofc) and just out of no where acts one of the people and chants with them. Honestly that's was a Funny scene xD you can say one of my fav comedy scene even tho it's just so short it was still golden. But seriously tho even after years I can still remember this movie it was really great as said from the video. I mean if it can make me remember a certain scene even tho it was a very long time ago then that might be a sign that's its a solid movie. Although it's a very flawed excuse cause scenes from a movie can be a one hit wonder of sorts but still. This movie was a blast.
despite it having it’s flaws, the mummy is my favorite movie of all time. it brings back so many happy memories, but even watching it again just a few weeks ago, it’s still my favorite.

Whoelse got sad from the 3 American deaths. They weren’t bad guys.
Only the glasses guy was sympathetic
@@Richard_Nickerson Really? The other two were kind and chummy with the main characters.
I really like that, although they're not exactly the good guys, the movie doesn't make them evil or scumbags just for the sake of it. You really feel that they become afraid for their lives when they hear about the curse, and it's also a little sad the way they hang on to O'Connell to survive.
@@gustavogirotto true. I liked them. They were funny. But the British guy deserved it.
YOU MUSNT READ FROM THE BOOK
@@xanderfoley6641 Yeah, he was the biggest bastard. But still a realistic character, not a charicature.
Can't believe I was 7 when I saw The Mummy in theaters with my family.
I really hadn't thought about it. Great video
"He's still... juicy?!" Great laugh and "Oh Sh**" moment all in one!
I wasn't even looking at the screen when he said "good bye benny" and I had it perfectly burned into my mind and couldn't stop a small chuckle, god this movie is so good, I miss writing like this this is why I moved to anime for moments like this where the characters are not just a character but living breathing people who act like it.
The Mummy 1999 s one of the my favorite movie and I never thought of it as a Indiana Jones Sequel
I have The Mummy starring Brendan Fraser, and the sequel The Mummy Returns on DVD.
The mummy definitely would've existed in the same world as Indiana Jones. That would be an awesome crossover.
One of my favourite movies as a teenager - still stands up today. In fact, having today watched the trailer for the Uncharted movie, and then this video, I wonder whether The Mummy might just be the Uncharted we all want!
I've watched both the parts more than 100 times and it's always coming on TV here in my country.
God I love this movie. I love every actor in this movie so much.
I’m glad this came out during this BRenaissance
I introduced this movie (my favorite movie of all time!!) to my nephew earlier this year, and he tried to resist it's charm, but failed epically. His jaw was hanging and he kept asking how everything was happening, which was great because this movie came out over two decades ago
I actually had a notebook during my high school days where I mentioned a list of movies I rewatched. Mummy was at the top forever.
I really miss these types of Action Adventure films.
The Mummy was so good, the VHS included a little introduction for Pathé films done by Eddie Izzard in their inimitable style, which was as worth watching as the movie :)
Yes, oh god I couldn’t click on this video fast enough. Both series have great movies and moments, but The Mummy really helped flesh out the action adventure of its time.
the cgi tintin film also kinda feels like a spiritual successor to the Indiana jones, even though the source material is older I still get that feeling
One of my all time favorite movies ❤️🩹
Yes I do like these movies, well at least the first two, that third one when they went to China that needs to be put into a incinerator. But I like in the first two that blend of action and comedy.
@Big Fat Liar. not if it's going to be anything like Tom Cruise's version of The Mummy.
@Big Fat Liar. you asked me do I want a fourth movie and I told you as long as it isn't the disaster that Tom Cruise's Mummy was. Or the 3rd mummy movie when they were in China. That one was straight garbage.
@Big Fat Liar. DAMN!!!
This was one of the best movies ive ever watched . i was thinking of watching it again after soo many years
Seeing this movie in cinemas must have been an absolute bliss. I only watched 2 on the big screen but loved it regardless.
He's right. The mummy really IS a good film! I have forgotten it, but t's so nice to hear someone talking about it☺️
Man these movies are classics. Kinda wish they could redo the effects and rerelease them
This movie has been a family favorite since it came out. Nice to see it getting the love it (and it’s characters) deserve.
This is like, my favorite movie ever
This is a REAL dungeons and dragons roleplayer movie.
Just take the scene where they run and we see they forgot the locket/key, my friends and I were groaning when we saw it, and thinking oh now we need 30 minutes or more watching them trying to get it back, but nope, like a good roleplayer he remembered and just went back to get it.
Such a great movie to watch if you are a good ol pen and paper style D&D player, you can almost hear the dice roll with every action they take
I love this film. The 4K release is gorgeous as well. One of the all time great looking blockbusters.
Well said! Now I want to rewatch this
I love the Mummy and Mummy 2.
I watch them anytime they are on.
I never get tired of them.
This video is exactly as long as your other Indiana Jones video.
Mummy three is my jam 🤣 proud to say I saw that on theatres and have never stopped re watching since 🤣
Yeah If I remember right There was this one scene where the people were possessed and the One guy was panicking on how he could escape the people who were "Brainwashed"/Possessed/Mind Controlled (super naturally ofc) and just out of no where acts one of the people and chants with them.
Loved this movie and sequel when growing up
I wonder if Stephen Sommer ever thought of approaching Spielberg like "Get Harrison Ford on the phone, have I got a pitch for you!"
This movie just gets better with every rewatch
Love this movie so much. Honestly why I love Egyptian history today
