So sorry for that. I hope you are finding solace in this song. I also lost my boyfriend 2015. It stays like an impossible and unhealing wound. But, 'they' say time is a healer. Hopefully the adage holds true
Contrast this song with "Oh Lover". I see it as they are both the same woman, going through the ups and downs of an unexpected breakup. The other song is a day at the beach, she nonchalantly considers calling him and is in a lighthearted mood. This song is perhaps later the same day, late in the evening, running into an old friend, putting up a brave front.....
...and it all started by stayyyyying a while, without even having to meeean it!

I made a similar connection. Even if it weren't the evolution of the story of a relationship, the two songs seem to share similarities both sonically and thematically.
It's just an impossibly beautiful song. Musical excellence combining perfectly. Susanne makes you hear new notes. It makes no sense really but, she does. Her vocal skills are peerless.
There are many, many, many amazing singers out there. Better than her. She is amazing, but not the best.

It's just the greatest break-up song I've ever heard. The homage to ballads of the late 1970s is unmistakable and the emulation of that style is flawless. That final lyric just tears my heart out. These guys are the best producers working in popular music today.

What a beautiful song. Although written & sung to depict the emotional feelings & denial of a woman’s love for a past partner trust me it certainly struck a very very deep chord for me, men don’t get emotional! Men never express their true feelings! Why would we when we can hide ourselves in songs like this & hope nobody sees you crying ! My tears where alone & in the dark.
