It's called "Awakening", and it plays during the fight with the Shadow Lord in the Nation Rank Missions (specifically, 5-2).
The original was composed by my favorite of SE's composers, Kumi Tanioka (known best for her work on the Crystal Chronicles games). Very underrated and overlooked (due in part to how everyone worships Uematsu), but her use of the Irish Flute is KILLER.

Mykee Variis Yeah, that's like the one FF that everyone who knows FF will always skip over - if only because "hurrdurr FF7 iz best ff i luvz da 1weengedanjil tifa is muh waifu hurrdurr".
P.S. I know FF7 is good, but I SWEAR TO GOD people seem to worship the ground it walks on SIMPLY because of Uematsu's work on it (excluding edgelords Sephiroth/Cloud and "prime waifus" Tifa/Aerith).
It's funny you say that, I never actually liked FF7 but Crystal Chronicles was the first Final Fantasy I ever played and it's always been my personal favorite.
Lost my MIND when I first saw her summon. The use of the XI staff skills with her own personal flourish at the end? Too GOOD.
Shantotto's actually eye level with the rest of the characters in the game.. 0_0

Well Awakening has followed her around in the Dissidia games, so I guess they stuck with that, rather than use her own boss theme (Feast of the Ladies/Reign of Pain).
Nesaru Can you beat her in WOFF? I forgot to equip my reflect mirage and got my ass handed over X_X.

Nesaru I was able to survive all Ga attacks but i knew i had to lose so i gave up curaing myself. I wonder if reflect would have worked.
she can be defeated my official guide says we can defeat her but need a lot of patient and much level and maybe a lot of reflect because she like to cast like mad. And if you defeat her she give you 100k of exp and some useful item (mega-phénix and some megalixir)
It's an interesting version of Awakening. It seems to have the Windurst theme instrumentation.
Shantotto's too OP for this world-
Tell me about it. I beat Omega God by the skin of my teeth, and yet when I face Shantotto again in the underwater temple in that one quest with the Quacho Queen, I get rickity WRECKED. I bet she'd make XG scream for its mommy like a little bitch if she wanted to.

Shantotto is just normal sized in this game anyways. That's the best part.
Awakening is the final boss theme for the original storyline content of _Final Fantasy XI_, before the expansions. It is also wrongly associated with Shantotto, and has been multiple times now. Shantotto is not the final boss of _Final Fantasy XI_, nor does she directly aid in the fight against it. Indeed, the two are completely unrelated.
Square Enix simply decided to use the theme as an easy and, frankly, cheap way to make Shantotto seem more threatening, when anyone who has actually played _Final Fantasy XI_ knows that such a measure is not only completely unnecessary - Shantotto is a complete psychopath all on her own - but that it actually insults the power of the Shadow Lord, and undermines the latent tragedy of the person he used to be.
Sorry for rambling, it's just that this particular subject is greatly important to me.
Shadow Lord is truly an underrated character. FFXI is in general. Part of me wishes it (and XIV, for that matter) didn't have to be exclusive to online play
If Shanttoto is the representative of FF11 then Awakening, or any track from 11 is not wrongly associated with her
And yet she is in the side of Cosmos in dissidia as her champion, Cosmos just summoned a raging psychopath into her side that should be the good guy side.
@@hartantoanggoro - Yes, she's a would-be psychopath, but she's still not actually villainous; she's basically the opposite of Golbez.
@@YellowMage Yeah even though she is the hero of windurst, her moral still questionable. Golbez however brainwashed when he still a kid and all of his evil act had him full of remorse which reflected in Dissidia as him being in neutral while assisting Cosmos and nurturing Cecil to be better than himself.

It is - it's just not Shantotto's track.
This is played during your first battle with her, although the battle ended quickly, unless you got Shiva star Mirage, then you might last for a moment before you eventually lost.
The only bummers I see is the lack of FFXIV or Tactics. How does a character from FFVIIDoC make it in but not Ramza or Y'shtola?
Mindy Horn Their intention, apparently, was to focus on previous games primarily, which of course doesn’t explain Ramza’s absence (likely because Tactics might not have been.. “As necessary”? I don’t know), but they excluded games that were either also new at the time (FFXV), or ongoing (FFXIV).
I also have to assume that Kitase *really* likes DoC, because he’s supposedly into FPS games, and I think the gameplay concept of DoC came from him (“What if Final Fantasy but it’s a shooter?”)

That would be A Realm of Emptiness - CoP is the 2nd XI expansion, this is from the core game.

El_Girasol_Argentino She is one of the most powerful black mages in final fantasy xi. She has a mercenary attitude, speaks in rhyme most of the time, and can be expected to utterly destroy you should you get on her bad side. Seriously in lore, she sometimes throws out meteors like it was nothing. You know. The world ending spells that often is used as part of the plot. She drops them in some places because she can. She is technically one of the good guys, but her hair trigger temperament and her use of intimidation for her enemies and allies puts her closer to the grey end of the spectrum.
well... at least they didnt add vaan as a summon.
