I am a senior citizen who was born and educated in the Deep South during the civil rights era. My parents and their parents therefore grew up in the Jim Crow era. They and I were taught by our black teachers what being black was, and it has always amazed me that so many blacks nowadays don’t have a clue. CA resident. I was excited when Kamala Harris was elected CA AG. But during her reign as CA AG, there were so many Prosecutorial injustice cases (a majority of these cases involved people of color). Even Judges began speaking out. 15+ yrs experiences working with gov officials at various levels. There was systemic staff turnover in the CA AG office when Kamala Harris was our CA AG. The Chief, Senior, and Deputy AG's she hired were not exactly the cream of the crop. Then she became our VP, and there were staff turnovers in her office again. I wish the Democrats would have held a fair election so We The People could have chosen a candidate. A former career Prosecutor with a questionable record. Having this type of concert at an event that is meant for policy discussions, is a real disappointment to me. I live in a mixed race neighborhood. All our neighbors, Black (my Black friends tell me they have never been to Africa and don't like to be called African American), Caucasian, East Indian, Hispanic working families. We all bleed red. We all struggle with inflation, high food/gas prices, the daily challenges of life. None of us care whether the candidate for President is Black, East Indian, mixed race, white, orange whatever. We care about real policy issues. I think this concert was a mistake. Trump has my vote this election cycle. Though I wish him and VP Vance would also keep focusing on policy issues.

I am a senior citizen who was born and educated in the Deep South during the civil rights era. My parents and their parents therefore grew up in the Jim Crow era. They and I were taught by our black teachers what being black was, and it has always amazed me that so many blacks nowadays don’t have a clue. This election season, after hearing all of the arguments and after seeing all of the “hand wringing” as people try to explain and justify the arguments about Kamala Harris’ blackness or lack thereof, and after listening to people who don’t know how to answer this question, I feel compelled to provide the answer which I was taught and had reinforced repeatedly when we studied “Negro History.” Here is the simple answer, plain and simple: If both mother and father are descendants of persons who were brought to this country as slaves, then you are qualified as a Black person. Otherwise you are not authentically Black. This was a definitive answer when I was taught it as a child, and it still is.

CA resident. I was excited when Kamala Harris was elected CA AG. But during her reign as CA AG, there were so many Prosecutorial injustice cases (a majority of these cases involved people of color). Even Judges began speaking out. 15+ yrs experiences working with gov officials at various levels. There was systemic staff turnover in the CA AG office when Kamala Harris was our CA AG. The Chief, Senior, and Deputy AG's she hired were not exactly the cream of the crop. Then she became our VP, and there were staff turnovers in her office again. I wish the Democrats would have held a fair election so We The People could have chosen a candidate. A former career Prosecutor with a questionable record. Having this type of concert at an event that is meant for policy discussions, is a real disappointment to me. I live in a mixed race neighborhood. All our neighbors, Black (my Black friends tell me they have never been to Africa and don't like to be called African American), Caucasian, East Indian, Hispanic working families. We all bleed red. We all struggle with inflation, high food/gas prices, the daily challenges of life. None of us care whether the candidate for President is Black, East Indian, mixed race, white, orange whatever. We care about real policy issues. I think this concert was a mistake. Trump has my vote this election cycle. Though I wish him and VP Vance would also keep focusing on policy issues.
