    2700 N Lakeview was once the site of a private school called The Harris School founded in 1921. Harris School purchased 2700 N Lakeview in 1946 from The Arthur Ryerson Estate. I attended Harris beginning in kindergarten up to 8th grade. The Harris School closed the Lakeview campus in 1972. I have amazing memories of being privileged to have attended school in such a beautiful historic building. Harris relocated to a brand new building on Hawthorne Place (which also included a mansion & coach house) in the mid 70’s. Andrei, as I watched your tour of residence 2, I was reminded of the foyer & (grand staircase-preserved). There was a rotunda shaped room on the 2nd level more toward the center of the building. There was a courtyard that we would walk through to reach the lunchroom which had a stage at the back. We had a darkroom in the basement that was reached via a back staircase. I have access to vintage Harris School yearbook photos in case you have interest. As a result of attending classes in a noteworthy former mansion, I am forever passionate about interior design & fine architecture! I would love an opportunity to see Residence 1 & any pre resto photos. Thank you for showcasing such a venerable property that will always be near & dear to me.

    The light fixtures are exquisite throughout the condo. I would never want open shelving in the kitchen! It attracts all kinds of molecular gunk which sticks to everything.

    Am I the only one that feels that the integrity of the home was destroyed? It was a David Adler now it looks like any new construction on the inside. Breaks my heart.

    • @andreisavtchenko
      @andreisavtchenko  3 года назад +5

      They tried! But I see your point. Side note, there are two residences being restored. Residence 1 (not featured) is a true restoration of all original work. It's a much larger unit and I'm excited to see what the team does here. It's under construction now. I featured residence 2 which was built new for the most part. Only some features were original like the staircase.

    This house is the correct kind of 50 shades of grey. All the light fixtures are amazing especially the frozen droplet chandelier. Walnut cabinets and the dark navy cabinet doors are very well contrasted with the white and the grey of the house. It is a good thing that the colour of metal fixtures all over the house is the same everywhere. SO much natural light everywhere. Why is there a grill in the middle of the terrace?
    Overall, a very luxurious house.

And yes you did use gorgeous a lot but appropriately and not too often. Well done. Also loved the whole property, especially how they used the original stair railing. Very very nice house.

    If you know the area, there is a 44 story highrise that towers over the outdoor patio. There really isn’t any privacy, and whoever buys this place will probably need to build a covered structure over it.

    Your photographer never shows long shots of the rooms - they stay focused on you - not the room. The close ups are stable but awkward. Not sure if the equipment is the problem or the videographer’s eye. While you were talking about the sink it panned to the island. When you talked about the interior of a cabinet he didn’t bother to even show inside. You can talk about the rooms without focusing on you 50% of the time.
