Yo, the heartbeat in the background was cool! Makes me wonder if the heartbeat is the “villain’s” or the hero’s.
I’m also pretty curious about the specifics on what the council has done to them (and how it tends to work in general).
The fact that the hero ended up naming the “villain’s” guard dogs was a cute touch too.
All in all, I appreciate this series so far, and I’m stoked for what may come next!

The fact that they've developed this haven in one another despite the circumstances, & the hero even named all the dogs...so sweet. 🥰 I can see why you chose to fill these scripts...they're bittersweet & charming & restful & hopeful, & your voice is just perfect for the retiring-hero's (anti)hero. I wish it were only "every once in a while" that I had to lean on someone else. But even with medication and therapy, my depression has kept me in a near-constant state of needing support for years.
