I was there. Simone's voice live is 100 times sweeter than you can hear it in recordings. It's like a fairy's voice. This was an amazing concert although the netherlands public is not as energetic and fun as latinoamerican or south european public.
A lot of (*not* all) US concerts are like this. People are super self-aware, which is a shame, because you're supposed to kind of get lost in the music. Ah well.
(Most) Dutch are aware that others are there to enjoy the artists too and not to have to deal with others jumping and screaming in their face. They will generally show their enthusiasm between the songs.

I am here watching this, I've watched their presentation in Serbia, which was their best show of the whole tour, and thinking... what band plays as many shows as they played in the last two years, with such demanding instrumentation and vocals, and puts out a show like this, every single time? They are not just talented, they are disciplined, dedicated, professional and prolific. Their name couldn't have been any other.

Epica, para mim, é o ápice absoluto da música. Misturar música clássica com heavy metal não é fácil, e essa banda faz parecer simples. Ainda tenho que destacar o talento e o carisma de Simone. Poucas bandas, de qualquer estilo, podem rivalizar com Epica. A música deles parece ter sido composta por deuses, de tão perfeita.
Simone's voice is SO good. Its improved since Holographic Principle, and it keeps improving. Her voice changes from album to album, and I think the 'Omega' tone is the best we've had. It combines the smooth operatics of the very early with the power of the Quantum Enigma days, and has none of the whineyness of the Holographic Principle days. So its perfect now. I hope she keeps it this way.
I am always so excited to see what the band comes up with next. Their music stands alone in a world of metal. But i have learned my lesson, never play Epica in the car during a date. People who do not listen to metal do not get it at all.
Sempre amei muito a voz da Simone, desde os primeiros álbuns do Epica, e sempre soube que ela não gostava de suas técnicas dessa época. Sem contar que passou por um período bem difícil quando teve um problema de saúde que dificultava seu trabalho ao vivo. Hoje vejo que ela se encontrou em sua voz, me parece que realmente está confortável. Fico tão feliz por ser vitoriosa... E quem ganha somos nós. Bandas no geral com o tempo costumam cair na mesmice. Mas o Epica tem lançado trabalhos incríveis. Vida longa!

This change in her voice is due to improved technique, this voice is going nowhere except better :)
