Hey, folks, these are volunteers doing the readings. Ease up on the criticisms, try a less selfish attitude, or offer to record your own reading, which presumably would be flawless. What's the reason for being so negative?

Exactly! Say thank you for volunteering your time to give me a free book. Don't criticize the gift. Don't listen if you don't like it but quit the outraged insults

Well, the reading IS being done by volunteers... for free, and these short stories ARE, for the most part, rather old, amateurish, and obscure...
Therefore, I personally am quite willing to overlook a bit in the way of loss of quality in their reading, considering. Also, it was the first of these public domain audiobooks, which I have so thoroughly enjoyed FOR FREE, countless numbers of times... that have had this particular issue...

(Grins, cheekily) Mr. P: As a dual citizen with fam in the U.K. (who’s) visited often, please let me assure you:
The U.K. & U.S. - like all other places- have a few brilliant readers, some middling, and many wretched.
All the Librivox volunteers deserve a salute, however.
      Cheers, sir.

I'm sorry but if you're reading for the benefit of others then scanning the story for unusual words, checking their pronunciation using a good dictionary, ought to reduce the painful (to hear) stop/start or halting style. Besides, there are videos on You Tube giving advice on reading for audio. I'm 35 mins in & I can't listen to this reader any longer!!
